Youtube has become a haven for Letherette beats that will probably never see the light of day, and this unofficial video for "Maybe" by Synesthesiæ Films (who are also responsible for Solar Bears ' "Forest of Fountains" ) uses footage from Japansese cult classic Cruel Story of Youth to take it somewhere else. You should revisit their most recent mix for Ninja Tune if you'd like to hear what they've been up.
Kicking off what's sure to be an exciting year for the duo, Solar Bears headline the Button Factory on Sunday, May 6. Our latest Substitute Teachers mix comes from Tim Parker of London's You'll Soon Know , one of our all time favorite blogs and radio shows on NTS . I asked Tim a few questions after listening to his mix. How did You'll Soon Know come into being? Rich is a good friend of mine, we went to university together and just before we finished we decided to start the blog as a way to [...]

Letherette made a very special appearance on Ninja Tune 's Solid Steel Radio Show last night with a fresh mix that included five unreleased tracks and some great work by Prince , Autechre , and Aphex Twin . Their set starts at 100:00:00. 22/03/12: Ninja Tune's Solid Steel with Letherette in the mix by Strongroomalive on [...]

A genre currently getting a lot of love is the beat scene, which is mainly coming out of Los Angeles, and has been popular there for roughly the last decade. Originally pioneered by the likes of Flying Lotus, the sound is finding further acclaim through new artists like Shlohmo, and basically consists of very experimental instrumental hip hop, with wonky sounds coming from all over the place. It's very hard to exactly define what is "beat scene" but below are five of our favorite tracks to emerge from this weed-infused genre. [...]

Machinedrum has swallowed the early chunk of 2012, collaborating on new works with Azealia Banks and Om Unit , remixing Bonobo and Gang Colours , and releasing his own SXLND EP on LuckyMe earlier this month. I don't know how he's going to keep up at this pace all year, but hearing this Letherette remix of a [...]

Bonobo 's cinematic Black Sands brought a downtempo tinge to the Ninja Tune roster, and the label is celebrating it's success with the release of Black Sands Remixed . Lapalux , Machinedrum , Floating Points , and FaltyDL will join so many top electronic producers on a full LP of reworked material. All physical orders will also receive a bonus CD of remixes by [...]

Sounds of 2011 features many of the top songs and artists we've written about this year. We can never fit in all the ones we would have liked to, but Crimson and I took on the daunting task of summarizing a year of exceptional music and discovery. Keep yapping at us on Facebook and Twitter if you like what you hear. Chief Alexander O'Neal Interview [...]

Stephen Farris is a producer and visual artist based in Houston, Texas. He's my favorite unsigned producer at the moment, with three outstanding releases to his name that display a unique understanding of composition and form. I didn't know what to expect when he agreed to send a mix our way, but this work features a broad spectrum of influences - including a track he's made exclusively for the mix - and serves as the perfect introduction to his sound. [...]

Here's the latest EP of badass boogie cut-ups from Wolverhampton's Letherette duo. Their chops are just as tight this time out, covering dusted Dilla-esque HipHop, cosmic soul, and one heavyweight Boogie-House job. A-side slydes through the elastic funk of 'Bruse', a gorgeous Dilla-style harp and sitar chop up on 'In And Out', and stuttering soul on 'Shoe Be Do'. Flip it and you'll be smacked with 'No Point', a killer Thomas Bangaltar-style disco-House cut-up treatment deserving of instant anthem status, sitting next to two Madlib-like HipHop joints. [...]

This has been a good year for Dipped in Dollars. From getting a mention on The Guardian, previewing Jai Paul 's album in XL's New York office, interviewing artists like Gilles Peterson , Jensen Sportag and Onra to premiering exclusive mixes by Solar Bears , Teams , and Streets Of Beige , our second year has been filled with lots of [...]

It seems like the name of the game for some of the best contemporary producers is breadth of style. It has never been easier to explore and utilize vast amounts of original source material, and as a result artists are now able to pioneer new sounds and aesthetics by combining specific musical elements as they please. Some of the coolest music is born through this approach, and Letherette offers us a pretty good case in point. With a scattered assemblage of B-sides and unreleased material, Letherette 's dynamic handling [...]

In July Focus is a perfect beat. I'm a little in disbelief at how Letherette were able to chop The Whispers ' You Are Number One into this two minute wonder, but tracks like this are why I search for beats in the first place. Dive into the rest of their EP and discover some gems for yourself. Letherette - In July Focus

Letherette (Richard Roberts and Andy Harber) created another stunning remix of static bumps and glossy samples, this time for duo Jed and Lucia 's breathtaking "Helium". Listen to this incredible track below, then purchase the EP over at Ubiquity .
<p&a mp;gt;&amp ;lt;a href=" http://jedandlucia.com/track/h elium-letherette-remix"&am p;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;Helium (Letherette Remix) by Jed and Lucia&amp; lt;/a&amp; gt;</p& amp;gt;
In related news, Letherette have a new four-song EP dropping June 13th via Ho_Tep Records. Letherette - Blad Letherette - Comput Letherette - Montego Fuzz Just stopping by the blog to blog a blog about a terribly blogworthy duo from London who split the difference between Ghostface's Supreme Clientele and the entire Brainfeeder roster. That is to say, if you like your hip-hop wordless and vaguely backwards-sounding, chock full of barely-recognizable snatches of finely-aged soul, if you use music to assist you with your couch-sitting and maybe even some couch-snack-eating, if you are between the ages of [...]

Letherette have proven themselves countless times as a super talented duo from good old United Kingdom. You can buy their latest EP here . Source: Dipped In Dollars Letherette - The Way Bonus: Machinedrum – Late Night Operation (Letherette Remix) [...]

Love how this new/unreleased Letherette track sticks and jabs then unfolds into a funk-leaning electronica jam at the 30-second mark. According to an interview with Dazed Digital , the duo of Richard Roberts and Andy Harber are "...sitting on a huge amount of unreleased material" and hope to release even more songs/records this year. Can't believe there's not a massive bidding war over these guys.

Letherette have proven themselves a talented duo through some hard-hitting Bibio and Solar Bears remixes in the past, and much of their other work has demonstrated an effective progression in sound. Letherette 's down tempo, stutter-sampling creates a sonic environment in similar vein to Dilla and some of Bibio 's work, though their tracks definitely take on a life of their own. Chalk another one up to the UK. You [...]
