Click here to view the embedded video. Well, the mainstream is picking up on this a bit late, but better late then never, right? Let's Go Sailing's brilliantly sweet The Chaos In Order has been a constant listen since it came out a couple years ago. One of the most memorable tracks is "Icicles" (though it's hard to pick a legit standout track because they're all so good), which Radio Shack realized (...two years late) and have now decided to feature it on their appropriate wintry commercial, "Product Tree Farm".

This morning I woke up to one of my favorite sounds: rain. I *love* rainy grey mornings, especially when its a weekend morning so you can lay in bed for a while if you want to (read: me right now). The world almost seems to say, "go ahead, take it easy while we're making ourselves all nice and shiny, listen to our rumbles." And then if it so happens, you throw on some music that just make the

Christmas is coming and kids are having fun (so said the chorus of my fifth grade play " Shaping Up Santa ," for which I still know all the words and thankfully no longer have to wear the green elf costume). I have a love/hate relationship with this time of year because of the overabundance of really bad, synthy, jingly, repetitive Christmas music that bombards me at every pass. But tonight I was listening to my friend Dainon 's superb radio show out of Salt Lake City and he filled two and a half [...]

I haven't seen Guy Ritchie's new movie RocknRolla yet. The film received mixed reviews and then the A-Rod divorce scandal hit. However, the soundtrack is phenomenal. The Clash, The Subways, The Beat, The Hives, The Sonics, 20-20's, War and Lou Reed are some of the artists that contribute tracks. It's by far his heaviest soundtrack to date. So I was watching SNL last night (side note: does anyone else think that Jason Sudeikis and Ed Helms are actually the same person, or perhaps even the world's first successful human clones?) and they did this rather innane Gossip Girl skit that caused me more pain than I could have ever anticipated. No, it wasn't the boring approach of the skit, no, it wasn't the lame repetitive small-penis joke,

postsecret Thank you to everyone who put their name down! I know there were tons of you who decided against it, because I have access to my page view count..hehehe. But to the ones that did: thanks! Anyways, a lot of you I know, a lot of you I don't, but none of the songs were just chosen out of a hat. Feel free to ask why I chose the song I did. Anyways, enjoy! "Well, I was thinking of taking you on a cultural tour of L.A." "That's the first fifteen minutes, then what?" Let's face it...LA can occasionally feel like a bit of a wasteland. It's impossible to live here without, sooner or later, embracing the stereotypes - says me, the vegetarian who works in entertainment. On the bright side, being an Angeleno does make it easy to pull out random seemingly impressive star-related antidotes at dinner parties. [...]

The schedule for Friday, March 14, includes some bands that are brand new to me, like Minneapolis band Solid Gold, King of Prussia from rock-rich Athens, GA, Driving By Night from Belfast, Ireland, Austin's own the Lovely Sparrows, and the exotic Ruby Suns from New Zealand. I knew People In Planes previously from only one song, "If You Talk Too Much," and I was pleased to find out that I like more of their songs. Liam Finn, son of Neil Finn (Crowded House), obviously inherited his dad's talent for melody, harmony, and hooks. Speaking of exotic, [...]

Angela Correa, from Echo Park, California, records soft, lovely music under the name Correatown . Her EP, Echoes was released January 22, and is like an appetizer of what she will bring on her unreleased full length album. I just heard about her and missed her EP release party last weekend, but she'll play a few shows in the Northwest and Northeast before heading to SXSW . Angela provided the singing voice for Jenna Fischer in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story . See her myspace page for the [...]

It's Sunday, it's cool and kind of foggy, it's not your typical sailing weather (not in the northern hemisphere, at any rate), but this music is lovely. Let's Go Sailing is from L.A. and released their first full-length album, The Chaos in Order , last year. Technically the band consists of Shana Levy, formerly of Irving , but when she plays live she has a backing band with her. I must admit I'm a sucker for a sensuous cello line, which is [...]
Songs That Might Otherwise Pass You By Celebration, "Evergreen" The more I hear this song, the more I absolutely adore it. Her voice is a smoother Johnette Napolitino's, capable of blending low and high notes so effortlessly that I'm looking to see if this is Siouxsie Sioux's new band. It's not Siouxsie, and it's not Concrete Blonde. It's a band out of Baltimore with a sound so magical, so
This picture rocks. Thank you, dear visitors, for not insisting on long expositions. You don't know how much that means to me. To tell you would require a long exposition, which we do not want. I don't know much about LA based girl-troubadour Shana Levy - AKA Let's Go Sailing - other than that she used to be in the band Irving and isn't anymore. I do know that she has a pretty great song called Sideways which was just remixed by the guy who wrote the music to the Natalie Portman rap and "Dick in a Box," undoubtedly SNL's best accomplishments since the 90's. [mp3] Let's Go Sailing - Sideways Buy Let's Go Sailing records .

Asa Taccone (of "Dick in a Box" composing fame) has taken on a track by indie pop chanteuse (and object of our current indie pop obsessions), Let's Go Sailing . The group, led by former Irving member Shana Levy, has been quietly creating the kind of heart-on-sleeve indie music a la Elliott Smith with a penchant for The Flaming Lips for a little over five years. But we think that's about to change dramatically. One listen to this remix of "Sideways" (off of Let's Go Sailing's excellent debut, The Chaos in [...]
