I've made a valiant effort to go out less, stay in more for 2007. No, this is not a new year's resolution. I won't give it that kind of label. Instead it's just an idea, an attempt...we'll see how long it stays. Regardless, after coming back from Philly and being completely exhausted, I took an early night and woke up invigorated. Not only did I clean my entire apartment, but I decided it was time to tackle that ever-growing pile of cds that I receive in the mail. Look for many new band posts in the coming weeks, but I [...]
Let's Go Sailing - "Icicles". Straight from Los Angeles comes a song with jingle-bells and icicle-talk, a warming tone that's equal parts Winter, Spring and Summer (but definitely not Fall). Shana Levy sings sweet over jangling guitars, and me I imagine her in red shoes and red gloves, posing beside snowmen while icicles fall from red tile roofs. [buy] Alasdair Roberts - "River Rhine". There are madrigals, rounds, quatrains, sonnets, all sorts of names for songs and poems. And I want to add another name to this list: "a kindness". I'm not sure I can put into words what a [...]

A few months ago, we declared Rewriteable Content to be a place of permanence. Since we want our politics to be clean we are trying to sway away from any flippity floppiness. With that said, the Content is bringing back some of our favorite LA sounds over the past few months (or so). If you haven't already heard us rave about these bands then be sure to check the links so you can fall in love

Oh No! Oh My! [MP3] Oh No! Oh My! - Walk In The Park [MP3] Let's Go Sailing - It's As Clear One of the best unsigned bands out there today. A bumblebee flew by me the other day. As I watched the yellow blackness make its turn to descend again on my questioning head, I curiously began to listen closely to its language. Was it angry? Annoyed? Did it love me? Did it even know my name? Even the greatest of my interpretative skills couldn’t judge the nonsensical mumbo jumbo that my friend enemy used to break through the language

Summer has been insanely brutal in Los Angeles this year. I know, I know I really have NO PLACE to complain. I'm sure you readers in Las Vegas, AZ, and The Southwest are having a wonderful season as well. In the past two weeks Los Angeles has seen temperatures well over 90 degrees and triple digits this weekend (as high as 119 degrees in the valley). My apartment doesnt have air conditioning and with temperatures like this it's been super hard to sleep. OY! In place of a music post today I thought I would [...]
