Myspace // "I Won't Lie To You" [mp3] "Let's Wrestle are the most miserable and hateful band in London," so heralds the Stolen Recordings ' website. It's a ridiculous claim, as everybody knows that Kate Nash is easily the most miserable and hateful person in the British music scene for cruelly subjecting the world to her music. Though the label's statement definitely seems like posturing, I am infatuated with Let's Wrestle nonetheless because their EP, In Loving Memory Of , is seventeen minutes of pure slacker rock bliss. I sorta see [...]

At last! West Ham have finally managed to not only score but to win!! After three 4-0 drubbings on the spin it was a great relieve. Freddie Sears is a name for the future. And Lewis Hamilton won the first Grand Prix of the season, putting that stroppy spaniard in his place!! Speaking of bright young things - tracks for you from 3 of the new Indie vanguard.First up are Bolt Action Five whose AA side single was released on This Is Fake Diy last October. Another band hard to categorise - indie, electro, post-hardcore, dance-punk [...]

"No matter how many records I buy, I can't fill this void". So starts In Loving Memory Of… the new EP/mini-album by Let's Wrestle , but in case you might be thinking that what follows are tales of musically-related existential crises, don't worry. That song – I Won't Lie to You , one of last year's best tunes in my opinion – is one of six short, scrappy punky rock 'n' roll tunes that mark out Let's Wrestle as one of the most interesting bands around at the moment. It's a brief calling card for sure [...]

I see dozens of horrible band names day in and day out, and after a while it can drive you a little nuts. I won't get into specifics and call people out, let's just say that when I come across a band with a decent name I am a bit shocked and awed. If you think it's bad now, just imagine 50 years from now when all of the good band names have really been taken. I weep for billboards everywhere just thinking about it. What does all of this have to do with Let's Wrestle? [...]

Another set that should have been posted a couple of weeks ago. Enjoy. 01. The Cribs - " Don't You Want To Be Relevant? " ( buy ). Seriously, this is what their B-sides sound like?!?!? It's amazing. I love the way this one kicks right in and even though I don't quite get these lyrics, I do love the " your onstage antics out in Leeds were tailor-made to suit men's needs ". [...]
Almost everything about this song is a bit off as if it had been left in the refrigerator past the best by date, and opening the lid only reveals a strong stench emitting from the container. However, the truth is what this track reeks of is greatness. The nonchalant count off; the less than perfect backup vocals combined with the definitely not perfect lead vocals; and the bass mixed with almost as much treble as the guitars are all apart of what glues this track together. The UK's Let's Wrestle have the swagger of [...]

MP3: Let's Wrestle - I won't lie to you They wagger through door. People look up, they wink. The room parts. It's seems so simple when you've been up there for so long - you deserve it. Indie-Rock presented by the consistently-on-fire Stolen Records. Let's Wrestle don't just spin around in pointless chorus-led circles in their English urban sprawl - they float, follow the ley-lines and probably don't care for dirty-dancefloors: this sounds so much more free: triple filtered, triple strength. www.myspace.com/letsfuckingwre stle [...]

These days wrestling is about taking so many roids your heart explodes and/or killing your whole family, but remember when it was just old, fat men having fun? Our Grecoroman dudes do and they're back in London with another of their legendarily redonkulous parties on 21st December. Booji Boy High and the electro Chris Cross, Grovesnor, play live while Jesse Rose, Felix Jaxx and Joe Hot Chip grapple with the decks. Rumours that 'Rollerball' Rocco will be offering lapdances remain unconfirmed. Check the Grecospace for details.

There are so many bands out there. So many guitar-toting kids competing for your attention, and so many PRs and record companies pushing stuff your way in the hope this or that bunch of young bucks will be the next big thing, or at least develop some sort of cult appeal. So to help with the selection process today, here are a few questions to ask: · Does the band have a great name? Possibly named after a David Shrigley book? · Do they have a theme song? · Do they, more specifically, have [...]
Let's Wrestle have a song that begins with the line "I Wish I was in Hot Chip." Hot Chip's forthcoming album has a song called "Let's Wrestle." One had to be the direct result of the other, right? That sort...
I haven't done one of these entries in quite some time, and Stolen Recordings in London just hooked me up with a handful of good tracks, so here we are again. Let's Wrestle , who I mentioned before, kick it off with the opening line "I Wish I Was In Hot Chip." They're followed by the first of six Stolen Recordings bands, a noisy trio called Screaming Tea Party . Filling out the other five are Tap Tap, The Ghosts, Jesus Licks , Pete and the Pirates , and Oxen of the Sun [...]
Oh my golly, there is some good music here. Hexstatic kicks it off with some rump-shaking jams, and DJ Format follows with a few minutes of music for the mature b-boy. Athlete comes in next with a couple of crushing grooves from their third album Beyond the Neighbourhood , which will be hitting the shelves on Sep. 3rd. Anyone remember The Coral ? Well I do, and I've got a couple of tracks from their new album Roots and Echoes that comes out next week. Let's Wrestle finishes [...]
Oh shut up and drive already... So, it's been a while since we sat around the Castle and watched music videos; we've been busy at work and not in the mood to go to shows, so that's what we did this evening, after stopping at the grocery store after work and ooohing and ahhhing over my new box of records shipped direct from End of An Ear in Austin. When Rihanna's "Shut Up and Drive" came on, Pinkie unceremoniously sneered, "This [...]
