After leaks in both Rolling Stone and Spin this weekend, the folks behind the Outside Lands Festival announced the initial lineup for year three of the Outside Lands Festival. Headlining a pack of 42 announced artists were Kings of Leon , Further (featuring the Grateful Dead 's Phil Lesh and Bob Weir ), Phoenix , My Morning Jacket and Al Green . Lineup announcements can a tricky thing. Do your standard, let's-post-at-midnight reveal and a festival has the potential of being lost in the shuffle of the 1,100 other festival announcing their lineups on that same day. Last fall, Levon Helm , the former drummer for The Band, was forced into vocal rest after doctors found a non-cancerous lesion on his vocal chords.
