On the occasion of Kitsuné Maison En Vrai #10 on December 1st in Paris, Citizens! and Theme Park snapped their journey over. Breakfast, sidewalk, shows, after shows, parties, diner... For the tenth edition of the Kitsuné Maison en Vrai! shows, Kitsuné is putting the spotlight on some of the bands to keep an eye on in 2012. London is booming with fantastic rising bands... Let's start by Citizens!, a brand new band signed to Kitsuné, three handsome London boys who pen songs with a [...]

In between trying (read failing) to seek out the latest and greatest acts around the world, no small feat, and one we probably can't even pretend to be achieving, and amidst the new gig reviews and acoustic sessions we've been trying our hand(s) at, we found just about enough time to have a chat with Life In Film and get a brief insight into their little world. Harking back to 2009, Life In Film pretty much ruled my iPod. A Nano to be exact. Ever since, their cheerful indie bop sound has reminded me of cold winter mornings and hot [...]
Life in Film is a band you should keep an eye on. They headlined last Friday's Club NME night at London Koko. My first impression? "They sound like the Smiths! " Which, in my estimation, is never a bad thing. You can never go wrong with melodic guitars, typically English self-deprecation (their single coming out on the 14th of November is called 'The Idiot') and more concentration on the music side of things than trying for something flashing. The last item on the list is best represented by the promo video [...]

So we did this a few days ago and it was quite ridiculous but also cool and a lot of fun. And here it is, the interview we (using our Twitter alias: SeedPocket) did with Sam from Life In Film via tweets. Reading this back it was way more shambolic than I thought at the time but here it is as it happened! A Pocket Full Of Seeds: Give us a shout when you are ready! Sam/Life In Film: I'm ready for my close [...]

It's always important to take a step back and remember, there's alot to be said for music that is just plain fun. You know the kind that you need to hear just before last call when you forgot you swore you wouldn't dance. "The Idiot" by London's Life In Film is one of those tracks. With guitars and adjoining melodies that sound like a pouty version of The Strokes, which all lead into a bar room sing-along chorus- "The Idiot" was made for Fridays. Oh, and having a pretty wonderful gif-y video is a nice [...]

In addition to sharing her favorite musical memories from the past year, NYC-based vocalist Madison counts down her favorite releases from 2010.
It's not every day that you see a band play a song in a cemetary, but Hackney-based Life In Film did just that for Watch Listen Tell. Sitting in Stoke Newington Cemetery, they played a gorgeous rendition of their song 'Carla.' Click here to view the embedded video. And if you're not sick of Burberry Acoustic yet, they've done two sessions for them as well. Check out 'Alleyway' performed in the band's back garden: Click here to view the [...]

As I told a fabulous new friend recently, I adore churches illuminated at night. They look so mystical, holy, entrancing, ghostly. I saw the one above at about 4am last weekend while strolling home, and it was perfect - a warm-ish night, some wine inside me, leafy streets, no cars and now this window to heaven glowing above me. All that would have improved things would have been a little of Islington band Life In Film 's chilled-out, melodic and gorgeous music - pretty much the pop version of a hot-water bottle, only far cooler. Major labels should know sounds that sell - with rosters full of great artists or at least great assets. So why was I so surprised at a gig featuring two singers signed to Universal and Warner? Because the two unsigned acts also playing put the big boys to shame. I don't care if artists are signed to a major, an independent or are unsigned. Its the music that counts. What does irk me are major labels wasting money on generic muck when there is spectacular talent on their doorstep. Life In Film [...]
