Last Friday was just fucking incredible. Crosswave, which is our clubnight that we co-organize with the guys from Deathray was absolutely massive. For one night, we transformed the entire upstairs bit of Bar Room Bar in Leeds into a dark, smoky lair with our smoke machines, lasers and visuals and pump out the kind of dark new wave sounds that you have not heard in a long, long time.Alongside the usual Morrissey, Bauhaus, Joy Division stuff, we also played some stuff you've seen on this blog like Ulterior , Aaren Reale , Ritualz , [...]

Ah fuck. Liger has broken up! This is barely a few months since they've just released their new EP, Unknown Pressures . Read about the post I made about them here. As a last parting suicide note, they're giving away 5 previously unreleased tracks. I suggest you go get it. Download it from their website here . Apparently there's gonna be a new band thats going to be born from this death. I await with bated breath. Meanwhile, here's a preview of the tracks: [Liger - Body Blow]->Bad Fotography [...]
Dino from BeatisMurder dropped this beautiful 3-track ep, Unknown Pressures from his band Liger a couple of days ago. Dark and poetic indie from Germany. Vocals like the deranged Elon Katz from White Car . Alot of references to early goth rock, the laziest and easiest comparison would be to pull similarities from Joy Division (obviously counting the ep's giveaway title), but I'm thinking its a less whiny The Silent Scream, an 80s goth band. Rectangular and Body Blow are moody songs, [...]

I want to say the the lead singer of Viennese duo Liger actually sounds like what a liger might sound like if he was portrayed by a human in a futuristic revival of The Wizard of Oz (in other words, he has a dark, sometimes sad tenor). The music, a throwback to '80s British New Wave, comes and goes quickly; this EP, Unknown Pleasures , is but three songs. But there's some very nice instrumentation, including steel drums, amid all the standard dreamy pop fare (hand claps, emotional vocals, jangly guitars and fierce, reverby drums). "Funereal" is [...]

Liger - Split Yourself Lilith Zugegeben: ohne den Film "napoleon dynamite" würde ich das heute vorgestellte tier, den liger, gar nicht kennen, oder zumindest fände ich ihn nicht so großartig. Deb: What are you drawing ? Napoleon Dynamite: A liger. Deb: What's a liger? Napoleon Dynamite: It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic. Dass ein Liger eine Mischung aus Tiger und Löwe ist, genauer aus einem weiblichen [...]

I'm telling you now, your new favourite artist is Javelin . They're certainly mine. Feel like I'm beating a dead horse here but their album ' Jamz N Jemz ' is brilliant - one of my favourites released this year. If you're wondering who they sound like, I'd pitch them as a mix of the crate-digging Avalanches plus the Sesame Street/childhood nostalgia of Go! Team and the summery warmth of Neon Indian . If you're a fan of any of those 3, you'll LOVE Javelin. [...]
Please to enjoy this wonderful new netlabel compilation entitled 52 Weeks, four albums covering each of the four seasons, tied together thusly: basically we had a new artist make a song every seven days that transitioned from the previous week,...
Every once in a blue moon, we notice a pattern developing with the artists featured on MML and make an attempt to organize somewhat of a quick reference guide for those who may have just stumbled upon our little music blog. In May 2007, we presented the Shoe(gaze) Cupboard which was a compilation of artists who create music from a particular genre we love. Following the internet(s) attention
Every once in a while I run into an artist that blows my mind with both musical talent and/or an idea of what music is all about. The DIY thing can be done by just about anyone these days but it takes something of a non-entrepreneur to do things in just the spirit or path chosen by today's featured artist. In this case, we didn't find the music...the music found us with the band's
