Estranged New Order co-founder and bassist Peter Hook will return stateside this fall for another dip into the nostalgia well. This time around, he's graduating from Joy Division and, instead, performing full albums by New Order : their 1981 debut, Movement , and its followup, 19832s Power, Corruption & Lies . The tour kicks off on September 10th at Boston's Paradise Rock Club and wraps later that month at Colorado's Gothic Theatre. Today is supposed to be warm, maybe even hot. Yesterday Skip, my factotum, was here all day getting the backyard and deck ready for summer. Looks like the timing was perfect. The vegetable garden was weeded, its fence mended, candles hung in the trees, furniture uncovered and cleaned, Gracie's holes filled, including the one closest to China, backyard ornaments put into the ground and my favorite new addition set up from the heavy pine tree: two stars hung together with five tails extending from them all in white lights. I put them on the timer and last night the stars [...]
It’s Saturday, so that means it’s once again time for Shorthanded Goals. Shorthanded Goals is an informal mixtape of the best sounds from the past week (or weeks) that I didn’t get a chance to cover. These tracks arrive via the Sirens of Decay inbox from bands/labels/PR folks and occasionally readers, as well as from my own exploration and feeds on Soundcloud or Bandcamp. They are all great tracks looking for a new home. These are the tracks I end up missing, so you get first dibs. Think [...]

Siberia Acoustic is out now and can be purchased digitally here . In case you missed it, you can find our 4.5/5 review of the album here .

As much as Valerie Anne Poxleitner aka Lights herself is the very image of perfection, sometimes it can be difficult to get past the whole "dance vibe" of her songs, if that's not your thing, and see them for what they are. Siberia Acoustic strips off the synths and eradicates the electro, but the leaves the simple structural beauty in tact, and this is where Lights truly comes into her own. Showcasing an incredible vocal range and complexity, the record blindly speaks for itself and the aural experience outshines the aesthetic. 2011’s Siberia [...]

Sports Arena. ► Canadian electro darling Lights brings her acoustic tour to the El Rey Theatre for a [...]

Words by Matt Yau Electro-pop trio Little Daylight are fast developing a reputation for crafting sky-soaring tracks radiating with vitality. ‘ Name in Lights ’ is the brightest of them all; a true escapist’s track. It may seem difficult then to see how LA duo Pacific Air could add anything to it. But immediately, the warbling bass lurches with substance while the spectral vocals stir a shadow. All over the tune are Pacific Air’s meandering trails that muddy the clean original. Beneath the 802s tinge, subtle textures and sharp melodies glimmer deep [...]

Say hello to Anaye (the Navajo name for unnatural or alien spirits like the limbless twins Binaye Ahani, who killed men with a mere glance) - a rap, producer and DJ-duo consisting of Amber Watts & Alexandra Shanahan from Stockholm. Amer and Alexandra are the 2 parts that is left of the former group Swell (who won a big talent competition last year held by Metropol 93,8, the Stockholm-channel of the National Swedish Radio). Even if Swell is no more this is just the beginning for Anaye, last week they performed on Gnucci's big Famalam Fest and yesterday they dropped [...]

Wanderhouse "Sugar" The picture used for the "Sugar" single is a pretty good representation of what listening to the song is like. It's one of those tracks that washes over immersing you in the beautiful natural flowing current of vocals and music. The voice you hear belongs to Marie Moreshead who is one half of Wanderhouse . The other half of the Los Angeles duo is producer Dr Rosen Rosen . Wanderhouse [...]

Nacho Guzman shot this teaser video for OPALE 's upcoming album, "Sparkles and Wine", that will be released in May. Guzman was inspired by the unfinished 1964 film L'Enfer by Henri-Georges Clouzot. It's crazy this is achieved simply through lighting.

It's just a special place and I'm having fun every time I go.” - Thomas Gold Thomas Gold is now the latest all-star to land a residency at the Cirque Du Soleil powered [...]
