Two bands who love to get noisier than the speakers can handle join forces to blast off and get blasted. The sudden shift in the post-millennial musical environment has caused many industry vets to strategize new methods of survival and adaptation. Yet, at the end of the last decade, the Flaming Lips made an album too dark to be compatible with their life-affirming live show (Embryonic) and released a decade-in-the-making art film (Christmas on Mars) that even their most dedicated fans can't seem to decipher. It seemed like they were prepping for extinction. Since then,...

Are you surprised that the Flaming Lips would already have plans set for next year's Record Store Day? It really shouldn't be all that shocking. Especially since this is the band that released a six-hour song and is planning on releasing a 24-hour song. Billboard spoke to Wayne Coyne who said that the band is creating a compilation featuring collaborations with artists they've already worked with including Neon Indian, Lightning Bolt and Prefuse 73. But what's more interesting are the upcoming collabs the band is readying. [...]

The band are also hopping for more collaborations to include as part of the special release.

Photo by Heather Kaplan In between marijuana flavored gummy brains , gummy fetuses , real skulls , and 6-hour and 24-hour songs, The Flaming Lips' weird-as-fuck 2011 output has also included high profile collaborations with the likes of Neon Indian , Lightning Bolt , and Prefuse 73 . All of these collaborative tracks have made their way online (just click those links), but physical copies of the releases were limited to select record stores across the country. Now, though, Billboard reports [...]

The Flaming Lips ' 2009 album Embryonic signified a return to the band's early acid-drenched days, trading in their pop hooks for a healthy dose of weird psychedelia. For their latest release, Wayne Coyne & Co. have teamed up with noise-rockers Lightning Bolt for a four-song EP that is fully bathed in day-glo and Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd sounds. Let's check out the seven-plus minute trippy, freak-out video for I'm Working At NASA On Acid... Click here to view the embedded video. [...]

Frank Yang The last time Philadelphia's The War On Drugs were in town was as support for Destroyer , and by drafting on the interest in the "Best New Music" -ed Kaputt , played to a sold-out Lee's Palace . This time out, they were headlining the smaller digs at the Drake Underground but were again buoyed by some Pitchfork love with the same seal of approval being awarded to their just-released second full-length, Slave Ambient . As [...]
THE FLAMING LIPS & LIGHTNING BOLT - I'M WORKING AT NASA ON ACID Wow, that's one hell of a video.

De la espectacular colaboración entre The Flaming Lips y Lightning Bolt ya conocimos la controversial I Want to Get High but I Don't Want Brain Damage . Hoy, más poder lisérgico de la unión de estas dos grandes bandas. The Flaming Lips with Lightning Bolt es el nombre del EP que co-compusieron ambos grupos y lanzaron únicamente en vinilos de forma limitada en los Estados Unidos. [...]

We've had a summer break and now we're back. Whether we're refreshed and raring to fill your various screens and feeds with musical pleasures is another matter (not that we exactly overload you with such delights, but anyway...) Just before leaving on a jet plane to foreign shores I learnt of a collaborative EP by two BBO favourites, The Flaming Lips and Lightning Bolt. Sure enough the first video for 'I Wanna Get High But I Don't Want Brain Damage' was as suitably tripped out and fucked up as a you'd expect from a meeting of psych-pop experimentalists [...]
Last month, the Flaming Lips teamed up with Lightning Bolt to release a collaborative EP. The band have now premiered the second music video for a track off the EP, this time its for " I'm Working At NASA On Acid ". The seven-minute music video was directed by Delo Creative . Watch above.

Here's the music video for Flaming Lips and Lightning Bolt 's song "I'm Working at NASA on Acid". The song appears on their collaborative 12-inch.
I'm not even sure it's worth mentioning that this video for "I'm Working at NASA on Acid," from the collaborative EP between the Flaming Lips and Lightning Bolt is fucking crazy, or has mystery fluids, or seems like these people are high as shit. Because isn't that exactly what happens in every Flaming Lips video? Is there even a point in mentioning that this is what happens? Are there people out there that wouldn't know to expect that this shit cray? I mean, I'm seriously asking. Because this is sort of just par for the course. Just watch it already, [...]
