Diplo - Blow Your Head for January is finally out (actually came out 4 days ago). With an austonishing amount of new tracks this is by far one of my favorites from the series on Sirius/XM. Diplo's song selection and ability to spot new talent makes him one of the best producers in the EDM world. Not to mention his hilarious tweets. Tracklist: Redlight - Get Out My Head (Main Mix) [Beatport] Download audio file (Redlight - Get Out My Head (Main Mix.mp3) [...]
Guess what Dub fans! Crizzly is coming back to Orlando! The original crunk-step Jedi devastated Bassmelt (now OVRKILL ) last time he was in town (Jump to the pics HERE ), and he's coming back to wreak more havoc on our dancefloors! This time, he's got his homie Protohype in tow, and an entire tour behind him! Even Orlando's own DallasK joins him on a few stops! The Young Gunz Tour is an exhibition of the best and brightest of the 'post-dance-music-explosion' crop of talent emanating from [...]

Mix Monday is back and we've got a gnarly Vacay exclusive from our favorite villain/hero duo, DIGIRAATII . The mix is "chock full of new DIGIRAATII material, as well as dubplates from around the world that have been given to [them] by all of our [their] uber famous producer friends lol." It also includes some tunes from fellow Killpopers Crizzly, Lucky Date, Gosteffects, Midnight Conspiracy, and Kids At The Bar. Our little tutorial in bass music, makes a trek from 128 BPM all the way up to about 174 before it finds it's final resting [...]

Whatup - This first track is probably the filthiest Rage Against Machine remix I have ever heard. No one, until now, has been able to capture the raw aggression that RATM would have on their tracks. This changed all of that. The bass is heavy and the vocals are still strong. Reppin' Dallas, TX, this is the first track these dudes have pumped out, so as soon as there is more, you'll be the first to hear. Without further ado, I present you Team Awesome Rage [...]

If you're not dirty enough from last week post this one should help you out. First an for most the Lil Wil-Bust it Wide Open (Crizzly Remix) is so dirty. After listening to this the first time I was just in the utmost disbelief on how he makes those sounds. Big ups to Crizzly he's a monster, he also does a lost woods remix that is sick. Really looking forward to see him at the Electric Daisy Carnival . I [...]

Dorrough reps the Central Expressway too, it seems...Looks like Dallas rapper Dorrough is making a name for himself on the national level. This week, Dorrough's "Ice Cream Paint Job" reached the No. 3... Continue reading "Dallas' Own Dorrough Is Walking The Chart Walk." >

So I went home to Atlanta for Thanksgiving break. It's always refreshing to see mass amounts of black people and to hear southern Atlanta accents. Not to mention get away from cold depressing Upstate NY. While I was at home I heard a few songs on the radio and although I'm against people naming themselves "Lil -blank-" or "Dem -blank- Boyz" I like both of these songs and feel like everybody needs a lil foolishness in their lives. Credit Atlanta radio stations for puttin me on. Listen/Download - Bust It [...]
This video took forever to come out. He could've just taken a camera to a Xi Sig party and gotten way better footage.

"Fat" is such a harsh word. How about "Big-Boned Pimp"? Three Dallas rappers who have each had a taste of commercial radio success just collaborated on a song all but guaranteed not to be played on the air. That is, unless Tum Tum , Lil Wil and Fat Pimp offer a completely bowdlerized radio edit of "Fuck Dey Girlfriend." But after excising lines about pimpin' ho's, kushy kush and keeping X pills for them girls, mayne, there wouldn't be much song left. Give a listen to the [...]

Ain't a stain on Big Tuck. Or the girls either, for that matter. This time, as a few other area blogs have already pointed out, it's The Fader who checks in on the topic, giving 'bout 2,000 words or so to the cause . For the most part, it's just a rehash of the same things we've been hearing for the past year or so around town--that a new cast of players seem to be taking over the area scene and have big things on their [...]
...or that's how it went down in my head. First, check Tahiti 's very Nintendo-like take on Lil Wil 's "My Dougie." Then hop over to Big Tuck's Myspace page and hear the newest remix to his fabulous "Not A Stain On Me," which features Paul Wall and Slim Thug among others. (There's a Dallas Remix to the song on the page, too, by the way.) -- Pete Freedman
Like sands through the hourglass, these are the Dallas music-related videos posted to Youtube this weekend. Snoop Dogg opened for 311 this past weekend at Superpages.com Center. Which proved that...well, that 311 is way bigger of a draw than I will ever pretend to understand it to be. Also, it proved that maybe this rumor isn't true after all... John Mayer's great on all those VH1 clip shows. And Rolling Stone makes it a point of theirs--in pretty [...]

Over on our home page , we've got two slideshows of photos by the great Hal Samples from last night's Dallas Observer Music Awards ceremony at the Best Venue-winning Granada Theater . Part I contains 21 color images, while Part II has a dozen black and white shots. I'll echo music editor Pete Freedman's sentiments about last night. I thought it was by far the best of the three DOMAs I've attended so far. The only letdown of the night for me was that [...]

Thanks to everyone who came out to tonight's Dallas Observer Music Awards! I, for one, had a grand ol' time. How couldn't you have? The performances were amazing: Doug Burr and Sarah Jaffe stunned; The Whiskey Folk Ramblers riled; Lil Wil repped hard ; the Best Instrumentalists killed; THe BAcksliders rocked; Record Hop deafened; and The Cannabanoids, they kept thing fresh all freakin' night long. And the winners? Plenty worthy, folks. Full winners list after the jump, yo. (Oh, and keep an eye out on [...]

Spoke with Dallas's own hip-hop sensation Lil Wil last week about his upcoming album for a story that'll come out in our print edition in a few weeks (right before his Asylum Records -released debut Dolla$, TX drops on June 3). So, yeah, look forward to that. Wil's an interesting guy; he's unassuming to an extent but, mostly, he's incredibly excited about the prospects of his future--and for the future successes of other Dallas hip-hop artists , too, something he believes his current status can only help. [...]

What's that? You don't know Lil' Wil ? Well you'd best familiarize yourself, 'cause the dude's about to turn heads across the map. I got a head start on the dude's "My Dougie" since I'm from Dallas, and now I'm here to share it with y'all. The cut's got a simple instrumental coursing beneath it. Eerie and infectious, the track's sure to spread an ominous yet exhilarating energy across any club. Lil' Wil has a slow, relaxed (and heck if that's not an understatement) flow that yields a clutch juxtaposition with Tum Tum's somewhat nasal [...]
