We know we've taken a while to post this, but to be honest we weren't entirely feeling it at first. UK trio Friendy Fires have a new single out, Kiss Of Life , off the re-release of their debut self-titled album, which drops August 31st. The more we listen to it though, the more we're feeling it, and the vivid clip for the single is pretty neat too. Check it out below, along with one of the best songs of all time, the Aeroplane remix to their song Paris . [...]

We'd like to introduce you to the best music video of 2009. We've just simply never seen anything like it. It's absolutely amazing. Strawberry Swing , Coldplay's next single off "Viva La Vida", drops digitally September 12th.

Here are a few new tunes for Linus: a sprightly new single from The Dodos, Fables , off their upcoming album "Time To Die" due out September 15th; Walkabout , a new song from Atlas Sound (Bradford Cox of Deerhunter) off his upcoming album "Logos" due out October 20th - the song features Panda Bear (Noah Lennox of Animal Collective) and has his distinctive "Person Pitch" sound and Beach-Boys-esque vocals; and Lovers' Carvings , a hazy, bare, and beautiful ballad from Bibio's new album "Ambivalence Avenue" which dropped last month, we'll be reviewing the album sometime soon, [...]

The Very Best & Ezra Koeing & Theophilus London: damn, thats a mouthful. Check out a remix to the new song from The Very Best featuring Ezra Koeing of their upcoming album "Warm Heart of Africa", featuring one of our favorite new artists Theophilus London (check out our first post about the up and coming rapper back HERE ). It isn't mind-blowing stuff, but it's pretty damn hot and we're totally feeling London's flow, he's super slick. Warm Heart of Afria (Remix)- The Very Best ft. Ezra Koeing & Theophilus London

Now that we're half-way through 2009, we thought we'd do a little recap of our favorite tunes from the past six months. We'll post a playlist every day this week; songs are roughly in order of release date. Check out Linus' favorite jams from '09 so far (these songs largely correspond to our favorite albums of he year too!): Dent May's quirky and fantastic album, "The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele"; two folk masterpieces, Neko Case's "Middle Cyclone" and Camera Obscura's "My Maudlin Career"; Grizzly Bear's "Veckatimest" and Phoenix's "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix." Catch [...]

If we told you how we got our hands on this album, we'd have to kill you. We kid, but in all seriousness "Darnk Night of the Soul" (which has yet to be released) has been very closely guarded: it sits currently in limbo, and in leiu of an album release, a book of photography was released, with a blank disc simply labeled, "For legal reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will." Dangermouse and Sparklehorse, two names to surely grab your attention, got together with director David Lynch ("The Elephant Man," "Blue Velvet") to write a [...]

Check out a bangin' ethereal & electrosynth cover of Kanye West's jam Good Life from Nite Club, off his new album "My Tronic." In addition, check out Gossip's recent take on Kanye's Love Lockdown . Good Life (Kanye West Cover)- Nite Club Love Lockdown (Kanye West Cover)- Gossip Check out the video for the Nite Club cover below too. Nite Club - "Good Life" (Kanye West Cover) from [...]

It's time you met The Very Best, the absolutely awesome collaboration between Malawian singer Esau Mwamwaya and European DJ duo Radioclit (Johan Karlberg and Etienne Tron). They are gearing up to release their debut album "Warm Heart of Africa" this fall, and below you can peep the title track to the album featuring Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend. The new song is fantastic; it combines the Paul-Simon-Graceland-era Afropop sensibility Vampire Weekend brought to their debut album and Mwamwaya's beautiful vocals in his native tongue Chichewa. Catch it below; it's breezy and perfect for the summer. [...]

You should feel pretty lucky: we have for you what we are 100% certain are world premiers. No one's ever heard these tunes before. Don't die!! It's our pleasure to introduce you to a really sweet new act based in Vermont, Ava & the Gardners. The trio only formed a few months ago, fronted by one of the most extraordinary voices we've heard in a while, Ava Kerr, who also plays piano for the group. With her sweet and rounded, utterly luscious vocals, reminiscent of Zooey Deschanel, Regina Spektor, (and dare we say Judy Garland??), she's a voice [...]

Check out a handful of new tunes from some pretty big names. Calvin Harris drops his funky new single, Ready for the Weekend, on BBC radio; Zero 7 gives away a new track, Everything Up (Zizou) , off their highly anticipated upcoming album "Yeah Ghost"; check out the lead single, The End Is Near , from The Fiery Furnaces' new album "I'm Going Away" dropping July 21st; a new song from Yo La Tengo's new album "Popular Songs" out September 8th; a slow jam from KiD CuDi, Mr. Solo Dolo ; one of our favorite [...]
Check out the newly released music video for Animal Collective's latest single Summertime Clothes . We don't love the video, but it's pretty trippy stuff. Summertime Clothes (Dam-Funk Remix)- Animal Collective

We realize reviews of these albums are a little irrelevant at this point, but we've at last given them all proper listens, and we figured it was time to talk a little bit about three of the biggest albums of 2009... go figure! Passion Pit's debut album "Manners" is everything we wanted and hoped it would be. Like every other self-respecting person with ears and an inkling for indie music, we spun their debut single Sleepyhead hard last year; if you were fans of the song too (and chances are you were!!) you'll love the album, [...]

Dirty Projector's are back today with a new album, "Bitte Orca," an absolutely incredible follow-up to 2007's "Rise Above." The new album's lead single, Stillness Is The Move, has been our hipster anthem for the last few months, check it out below. "Bitte Orca" feels instantly like something we haven't heard before. It's not pop, per say, but it has substantial pop appeal ( Stillness Is the Move , Cannibal Resource ); it's not electronic music, it feels more organic than that, but it shimmies between electro sounds ( Useful Chamber , Remade [...]

Check out two killer mash-ups from The Hood Internet below: the first features Grizzly Bear's sweet new single Two Weeks , and Dead Prez's It's Bigger Than Hip-Hop ; it works beautifully, we're lovin it. The second mashes Happy Up Here off Royksopp's new album "Junior," and Lil Wayne. These kind of mash-ups are our favorite, two completely different genres fused almost seemlessly together. Two Weeks of Hip-Hop (by The Hood Internet)- Dead Prez vs. Grizzly Bear Comfortable Up Here (by The [...]

Yo La Tengo is back with a new album "Popular Songs" (peep the album art above) on September 8th, and you can have your first taste of what the new album sounds like below, with a new track Periodically Double Or Triple. We were huge fans of 2006's "I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass" and this new track has us super excited for some more new stuff; it's got a really funky, retro, almost jazzy vibe, and we're loving it. Check it out below, and for more info on the album check [...]
This song is just really great. So is Matthew Wilder's mustache in the video below. Happy Sunday!
Cleveland duo The Kickdrums just dropped the second single, Things Work Out , off their upcoming debut album "Just A Game." The Kickdrums have been in the game for a while now, pals with Mick Boogie, producing for hop-hoppers and rappers like Kid Cudi, 50 Cent, Talib Kweli, Chamillionaire, among others. They're breaking away in 2009, though. Their solo work is pretty chill stuff, lots of smooth horns, relatively low energy vocals, and mellowed piano. We're loving it. Check out both the lead single, Just A Game , and Things Work Out below, as [...]

Here We Go Magic keep on building their buzz: they just recorded a Day Trotter session (check it out here ) and they've announced that they'll be joining indie gods Grizzly Bear on the road. You can check out a few tunes from their self-titled debut album below: Luke Temple & co. craft fuzzy bedroom pop, with stuffed together slinks and slanks, a lot of the time reminiscent of Paul Simon circa "Graceland" (with a much less radio-friendly vibe than Vampire Weekend, mind you). Some of the album gets a little too fuzzy for us, but most [...]

Check out the new, completely bizarre music video for Two Weeks off Grizzly Bear's new album "Veckatimest," which drops tomorrow. We're not too sure about the video, but the song is pretty fantastic. Two Weeks
