Tweet I don't make it a habit of actively seeking out acoustic pop music. I wouldn't even consider it to be one of my top three favorite genres. I find most of it to be either too lazy to listen to, or too opinionated for me to enjoy. Still, I somehow end up finding some diamonds in the rough. These usually end up being the longest lasting albums in my musical rotation. Long after the dance pop and new wave numbers have lost their flavor, artists like [...]
Listen to The Chieftains Celebrate Their 50th Anniversary with The Decemberists on a Cover of Bob Dylan's 'When The Ship Comes In'.

Everyone needs a good morning song that will get you up and going. This surprisingly upbeat track from Lisa Hannigan's second LP, Passenger . "What'll I Do" is the audible equivalent of a caffeine jolt. It's one of this optimistic folk-tinted songs that are so catchy, they can become nursery rhymes. Not that there is anything juvenile about this track, but its so cheery, its sprightly. Definitely another one of the highlight tracks on Lisa Hannigan's impressive album and the video's not too bad either! Filed under: Beats , Ire , Tracks Not Wacks Tagged: lisa [...]

Personal bias at large, as Lisa Hannigan gets set to release her second single on March 26th from lyrically rich and emotionally enthralling album 'Passenger'. 'What'll I do' is a bright, infectious and colourful component to the album which continues to highlight the growing change in Lisa's writing and delivery of her music. Reminiscing someone who clearly makes the world a little better, it's the sort of track I'd find myself toe-tapping to as I walk down the street (inesrt comedy moment). Whilst still delivering on the a... Read more..

Yet another wonderful video from Lisa Hannigan. After the colour frenzy of 'Knots' and the water-filled tub of 'Little Bird', 'What'll I Do' ratchets up the fun once more. When they were thinking up video ideas for Passenger, Hannigan's second album, which is also up for the Choice Prize, she [Read more]

Watch, and try not to smile, we dare you, Lisa Hannigan's official video for "What'll I Do", lifted from her latest album Passenger
The official video for 'What'll I Do' is the third in a series of official videos where Lisa Hannigan is desperately trying to sing with significant distraction. In 'Knots' she was pelted with paint for the duration of the song and in 'Little Bird' she's underwater. In this video she's on a rollercoaster at Dublin's Funderland! Apparently it took 18 rollercoaster rides to get the footage needed for the video. Impressive and fun, I love this series of videos from Lisa Hannigan. http://www.lisahannigan.ie/ Tweet

We're not two weeks into 2012 yet but there has already been an enormous amount of sniping going on as regards Irish music. I realise Ireland couldn't exist without a healthy dose of cynicism but it seems that we've reached a crescendo already. First up, the state of music blogs [Read more]
