The 15th of the month means Music Alliance Pact day, when music blogs share the best their country has to offer with the rest of the world. Thanks to the latest addition of Finland's Glue , MAP now stands at 25 blogs/members/nations. It is raging out of control but we did create this monster. As Scotland representatives, it's our job to pick 12 acts per year to foist upon an unsuspecting global audience, so we choose very carefully. We hope you agree April's selection is a worthy one, be sure to let us know what [...]

Apparently this is the first single off Lisa Mitchell's debut album The Attic Space, though in that case Im not so sure where Stevie comes in. Regardless, a very cute song-which is exactly what we would expect from Mitchell. Has she finally shakes the Australian Idol tag? Lisa Mitchell- Coin Laundry (zshare)

Lisa Mitchell - 'Coin Laundry' So yeah this could easily be an iPod Nano commercial, but catchy accessibility is hardly a terrible quality for a song to have. And I also realise that WhoTheHell posts about Lisa Mitchell (super young former Australian Idol finalist) quite heaps relative to her output, but who really expected Australian Idol to produce anything of worth? This is a lovely song, and I hope it gets overplayed. www.lisamitchell.com.au/
Neopolitan Dreams is one of the singles released to promote Mitchell's second EP 'Welcome to the Afternoon' on 31st May 2008. Most people wouldn't of heard of the Australian singer-songwriter but will know this song as it was used in a 3 Mobile television advert in July 2008 and also in a Surf Detergent advert in September 2008. Have a listen and see if you recognise it. Music Videos on MUZU .

We don't have resolutions at New Year, we have revelations. What can be better than recuperating from the excesses of Shloer-fuelled festive partying than handpicking the 10 most incredible should-be-famous artists to stalk in the next 12 months? This time last year we got a bit overzealous and chose 16 tips for the top, a few of which actually went on to sell more than 16 records. For 2009's hot young things, we have three Scots, one English, two Aussies and four Yanks, starting with a band who we've been listening to [...]

Straying from the holiday theme, and going way back to the late 60's... let's have some Shag. Shag were a Milwaukee, then later California, band, known for their 1967 "Stop and Listen" 45, which was a pretty cool garage/fuzz number. By '69 they'd gone all psychedelic, as was the fashion eh, and got a flute on board (you don't find much flute in garage, do ya?). They recorded tracks for an album which was never released at the time; but later made it to vinyl and cd, entitled simply "Shag". Listen to ♫ Mad Hatter [...]
Today's post is gonna be brief, I apologize, but sometimes the quick and fast route is the most effective. Here's some female singer-songwriters for ya. Rough Cut- Amber Rubarth [mp3] God, these lyrics. So young and so old at the same time. She's the Queen of Ladada's, something that I heavily support, and she's also in cahoots with The Paper Raincoat, previously mentioned on GFP. I hope to

First time I heard about and listened to Lisa Mitchell's music was when her first EP was released last year. She got a lot of negative vibe on last.fm because of her competing on Australian Idol. Negative or not, I listened to her music, and liked it! After a while, I unintentionally forgot about her, but since she's releasing a single in Europe now, I rediscovered her. Give her a try! At just 17, Lisa Mitchell is shaping up to be a new kind of singer-songwriting protégé. She's a teen, and the music is pop, [...]

I have a terrible confession. It's pretty bad...brace yourselves...I watch Australian Idol . When questioned I blame my mother (as I do with most things) and say that I only watch it because she does. But this simply is not true as I actually quite enjoy it and have watched almost every series. Why is it that I am made to feel ashamed to admit that I enjoy watching people of varying skill enjoy an evening of karaoke? Need I say more... But in the same way that I [...]

Lisa Mitchell - 'Neopolitan Dreams' ( mp3 ) I think I mentioned here before that I don't really watch TV that much and definitely not Australian Idol, so I don't really know the background story to Lisa Mitchell reality tv exposure. Nevertheless this cute pop song, complete with glockenspiel undertone, sounds like a promising start for a 17 year old teenager having a go at a music career. www.myspace.com/lisalisamitche ll
