This twosome from Jersey City have a love affair with lo-fi electronic music. Lismore sounds like Matt & Kim's cousins from the wrong side of the tracks. A little grimier, a little less pop-y and a little more of an edge. But it sounds to me like they have a sound that would be even more enhanced and engaging live. Lucky for you, they are embarking on tour at the end of this month so go check 'em out... Lismore - All That you Are tour dates (more...) [...]

One of my favorite, slow-burning, wraps-around-your-subconscious -'til-invading-your-daily-li fe bands of the past few years is Lismore. During our livejournal days, I wrote a quick missive on the Jersey City electro-glitch-drone-pop group (I believe I called them, and henceforth became quoted using this label, "prettydrone"). As with all good things, Lismore bears repeating. Earlier this year, they released their home-made "It Takes Guts To Deceive So Eloquently" e.p., which indulged a bit more of their lo-fi indie rock sensibilities than had previously been shown on their lush-'n-lovely debut album We Could Connect [...]
Yesterday I just so happen to stumble across an email asking me to check out an electronic pop band from Jersey City called Lismore . The laptop-based dance band is made of up two next door neighbors... Stephen and Penelope. The duo is embarking on a full US tour in support of their new EP, All That You Are , and will be blasting their danceable pop jams at a venue near you. Badical Beats came across a FREE mp3 of the title track from the new EP... you can snatch that up right [...]

Fuck, there's a sense of holiday calm. As Angel Foodcake McFade (aka Fader) said so eloquently, "we know that Christmas ain't the only party in town", but, with Hacks, Trixie, R. Jamz, Placeholder and myself all scattered to different ends of the earth for the next week or so, I, at the very least, am signing off on this end of things until some early morning when I've time to post up the oft-discussed, little-seen Best Of 2006 list (hint: SEXYBACK). For MY holiday present to you, I wanted to put up something from a band [...]
The second band on this Friday's Neon Lights bill are the glitchy dreamboats known as Lismore . Lismore will be making the treacherous journey in from Jersey City to join us at the Delancey . Their striking singer Penelope moved all the way from Australia. It would be rude to stand them up. Yesterday, I gave you an original song from co- N. Lights star Bell, as I had already offered up her cover version. Today, in a stunning reversal, I give you a cover version from Lismore, as [...]

Since my partner in crime d let the cat out of the bag yesterday, this is hardly a world exclusive announcement, but it is very exciting nonetheless... We've been working behind the scenes for weeks cobbling together a bill with all the loving craft that terminal mix tape makers like us can muster. The resulting endeavor, dubbed Neon Lights , will be a synth pop explosion of the first order. To make up for lack of announcement synchronicity, I've provided an all-new, all different [...]

Lismore sent EAR FARM a MySpace add and I thought "hm, why do I feel like I know this band already?"... I researched. Could it be because everyone in the whole world has already talked about them ? I mean, Allmusic said : "...Lismore points directly towards the current future of pop music." Maybe that's why they were already in my memory bank? Because I'm always looking towards the "current future of pop music". Nah. I only read [...]

Lismore "Far Off And Away" - "That's me in the corner, that's me in the spotlight, that's me crying by a bus stop in St. Paul..." -- The structure of this song is both epic and vaguely disjointed, seeming something like an emotional travelogue tied together with brisk snare hits and a voice that shifts from an enchanting siren call to a bitter sing-song and back again. There's an implication of physical distance and space, but it all seems to be taking place within one woman's mind. ( Click here for the official [...]
Who loves the Smashing Pumpkins? Who is totally pumped for the new album? Who else thinks that "1979" by The Smashing Pumpkins is one of the best songs of all time...? Who thinks that any cover wouldn't cut it...? Who has heard New Jersey's own Lismore cover this song? If you answered "yes" to these three questions, maybe you don't understand them... just kidding... But seriously, take a listen to Lismore and tell me what you think of this cover... cause I don't like it much. Why listen to this attempt at an electronic [...]

Lismore is the musical equivalent of hallucinogens. This three piece electronica band from New Jersey gets creative and eclectic with sounds, putting their listeners on a substance-less acid trip. Their cover of the Smashing Pumpkin's song 1979 is a must listen. Add this Band on Myspace Web Mix [...]
