Since her critically acclaimed 2010 debut album 'Catching a Tiger', Lissie has forged a reputation as one of the most talented and enigmatic female rock artists of recent times. Today she releases the video for new single 'Shameless' - released on June 16th through Columbia Records. Her much-anticipated second album is set to be released this September. Bristling with distorted guitars and fiery attitude, 'Shameless' is a smouldering commentary on the culture of modern celebrity, introspectively examining what it takes to achieve fame and success in [...]

Photos and words by Ethan Shvartzman Lissie showcased a slew of new tunes as we stood and sweated along. We danced to her new single "Shameless" and a set highlight "Little Lovin." Serving up some delicious electro-folk, Lissie's bluesy vocal delivery was also the perfect vehicle for new rockers like "The Habit" and "Romance Police." But it was the quieter numbers like "Oh Mississippi" and "They All Want You" that really resonated with the intimacy of the Masonic Lodge. The audience cheered for an encore before Lissie was done, and after a short [...]

Lissie is back, and she means business. After having her great Fleetwood Mac cover featured on a Twinings advert and guest starring on Robbie Williams' last album, she is readying the release of her second LP with a new single, the no-nonsense "Shameless" . An honest take on the fame game and celebrity culture, it shows Lissie in a raw, rockier direction, but that powerhouse voice of hers is still present. Her first album has quite a few solid songs so I'm curious how she's going to follow it up. Check out "Shameless" below and let [...]

Parking between the dark hidden recesses of famous gravestones and Hollywood hipsters, I couldn't help but notice how the glow from my headlights revealed a familiar name: Fairbanks Lawn. "Whoa, is this where they buried Douglas Fairbanks?" I said to myself, as I attempted to rationalize some swashbuckling purpose behind parking in the middle of a cemetery to see a rock ‘n’ roll show. Walking briskly towards the Masonic Lodge at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, my purpose became clearer as the lights from the second floor illuminated the gravestones and revealed the endpoint of my [...]
Tuesday things: ► John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival headlines a solo night at the El Rey Theatre. ► Legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac continues their tour over at the Honda Center in Anaheim. ► Lissie stops by the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery for an intimate show featuring new songs off her forthcoming album due this September. ► Over at the Echo, Red Bull Sound Select presents DIIV , Bad Suns , Cillie Barnes and Harper Blynn . That's [...]

As I tucked a second swimming suit into my bag that was probably too large for the three days I’d be away, I actually said aloud to myself, and I suppose perhaps my cat, “I’m going to a music festival. On the beach. As a VIP. With a press pass.” A little yelp came next, accompanied by an involuntary jig I can only assume looked like a combination of the Bluths doing their respective chicken dances. Such behavior showed up in spurts since [CoS photographer] Josh [Mellin] texted me on a cold March morning and said, “Um, guess what I [...]

Lissie hits the Midwest this week with a stop at Varsity Theater on Wednesday. It's no surprise that the charming indie rocker sold out yet another show in our fair city, but MFR is here to help. For your chance to win tickets to this sold out party hit up laura@minneapolisfuckingrocks. com with your answer to the following question. Who would win in a dance off: Patton Oswalt or Zach Galifianakis? Lissie [...]

"Shameless" is our first sneak peak at album #2 from Lissie -- due September via Fat Possum -- and the long-awaited follow up to her most excellent 2010 debut Catching A Tiger . It's also a bit of an ironic tweaking to her own past imagery as photos of her early attempts at the L.A. "star-maker machinery"(as Joni put it) are portrayed as tabloid fodder and Lissie defiantly sings "I gotta keep my identity and focus on what I can do." The song is raw and rough, guitars blazing and Lissie's vocals processed, [...]
We've been following the career of Lissie since all the way back to December of 2009, right around the time that the singer-songwriter released her five-song EP of soulful, sun-baked folk-rock called Why You Runnin' . Since then Ms. Maurus has dropped her full-length debut, an EP of radically rearranged covers ranging from Metallica to Kid Cudi to Lady Gaga, toured the world and played just about every major music festival around. Last week Lissie gave a preview of her yet-to-be-named sophomore album, which is rumored to be hitting stores this spring, by [...]

First track from the second album due for release June 16th

Not really too much to say about Lissie that hasn't been said here in the past - so we'll let you live with her huge new single "Shameless" which finds her stepping out of the pop/country/americana world and into an edgier more rock zone. Enjoy. We are. "Shameless" comes out June 16 in the UK (Columbia).

Have to say I’m a little underwhlemed by this crossover from soulful Americana to alt rock by Lissie . Shameless is the first single from Lissie’s forthcoming album. The single is out in June, the album sometime in September.
The musician who brought us 2011 favorites "When I'm Alone" and "In Sleep" will return to Philadelphia for a show at Union Transfer on June 7th. Lissie will be on tour in support of an upcoming effort that is set for release through Columbia this summer (no title has been announced). The sophomore record follows ... Continue reading

Olivia Malone Some weeks, the inbox is a veritable cornucopia of interesting concert announcements for acts big and small. Compiling the blog posts that collect those up is a genuine delight. And easy. Generally so easy. This was not one of those weeks. Indeed, most of the news was of the "support announced" variety, which isn't necessarily uninteresting - sometimes it's more interesting than the headliner - but it is less easy. Anyways, we'll kick off with New York's

They were going to retire this song but the fans won't let them, the cover of Kid Cudi is a big favorite in their encore
Many people are aware of Deadmau52 2012 and 2013 Grammy nominations, but less are acquainted with his 2009 nomination for "The Longest Road" (released in 2008). The track was considered for "Best Remixed Recording, non classical" and although it didn't win at the awards show, it's still one of his best offerings. Everything from Lissie's rapturous, smoky vocals to the tinkling melody and infectious bassline are blissful and calming. With the summer months rapidly approaching keep this song in mind for your top down drives and festival road trips. Fun fact: Deadmau52s [...]
