I'd say it's been a pretty good year in my musical world... and a pretty good year other wise too! I'm about as blessed as a girl can be and the end of the year always makes me incredibly aware of it! But enough of the mushy stuff... let's get down to the nitty gritty! [...]

Here we are at the end of another year. All things considered, it was a pretty good one. On a personal level, I came into 2010 facing some pretty freaky & scary health issues and I'm leaving more or less in tact and healthy. Both my Seminoles and my Buccaneers had positive seasons while it looks like my Lightning are gonna be in the playoff conversation all season. Musically, it was a pretty solid year too and that's what we're really here to talk about now ain't it. In preparation for this show I literally (yes, I am [...]
Some of the songs I couldn't stop listening to this year. Enjoy. Cee-Lo - Fuck You The Pack - Wolfpack Party 2010 Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros - Home Plushgun - Mixtapes Josh Ritter - Change of Time Tom Goss & [...]

While some blogs and publications filled their year-end lists with nearly every album released in 2010 I decided to whittle my list down to my 5 favorites . While only discussing my absolute favorite music of the year made for a more meaningful list, choosing so few albums to place on a pedestal left out a lot of great music. I certainly enjoyed more than 5 albums this year and in an effort to share some of those with you I've put together a little mixtape full of my honorable mentions of 2010. Before the hype machine of 2011 gets [...]

Listed below are what I consider to be the Top 10 albums of the past year. Some may surprise, some may be missing in your opinion but for, all 10 represent my own personal tastes and artists who achieved an outstanding level of musicality throughout their albums, which flow as one piece of work. So here you go: 10. Cee Lo Green - The Lady Killer Number 10 on my list is an album that is has achieved huge mainstream success, while standing out as [...]

After writing for TWJ for about a year now, I have mutated into a spider of the Interwebs. I creep across my familiar threads and pluck tasty morsels from the regular traps with ease. Now that I seem to be officially a blogger (*gasp*), I have become more of a "Song" fiend, who sees and [...]
DC says, "Not a Top 10, just a dozen 2010 albums we think deserve a serious second look and listen. We'll do one a day til the 31st": We will be the first to admit and advise that it's really not worth the effort of resisting Lissie Maurus' particularly ingratiating charms. Last fall's engaging EP Why You Runnin' was a "folksy but thoughtful melding of hymnlike chamber pop with a touch of Americana charm" we opined, a collection of songs from a naturally gifted singer/songwriter that has now yielded [...]
Lissie played to a sold-out crowd at Hiro Ballroom during CMJ and she is now coming back through Canada and the States on a Dec/Jan Winter tour. The local tour stop is at Webster Hall on January 28th and tickets are $18 in advance and $22 (DOS). At the Hiro Ballroom show, Lissie played the entirety of her "Why You Runnin'" EP and six tracks from Catching A Tiger . While Lissie has been getting a lot of publicity for her cover tunes (which include songs by Lady Ga Ga, Led [...]
Every year we talk about doing a "Favorite Songs" list, but we never do because it always ends up being so huge and unwieldy (we like a lot of music, alright?!). But this year we decided to just break down and do it, only here's the catch: these are our Favorite Songs that DIDN'T appear on any of our Favorite Albums . So no matter how amazing "Cold War" or "Ambling Alp" or "We Used To Wait" might be, they won't be on this list. Instead this gives us a chance to highlight a bunch of other fantastic artists [...]

End of the year list time. My favorite time of year. Yes, there are plenty of the usual suspects, but I'm pushing 40 and that's what we old people do...hang onto the past. So with further ado, Song 20 - 11 of my top 20 tracks of 2010. Enjoy. fig 1. Lissie 20. Lissie - Bad Romance [...]

single_ladies number four to be lifted from the LISSIE 's debut album is the EVERYWHERE I GO . we don't got a release date butt we do have her artwork. wotyougot

A few months ago I complained that few albums released this year had grabbed me; suddenly there came an avalanche of quality albums that compensated for my disappointment in sets by some favourite artists that I had looked forward to. I have not been able to get on with the Ben Folds and Nick Hornby collaboration, much as I am a Folds fan and as I like Hornby's books. Joshua Radin's album is decent enough, but it did not attract the affection I had for his debut album. Jenny Lewis' collaboration with Jonathan Rice bored me. Even the [...]

This is Part 5 of The Tale of The Tape's Year End Best of Series : Covers I almost didn't bother making an entire list, as this Kills cover slays the competition. Somehow almost completely swept under the rug, Alison Mosshart & Jamie Hince's take on the Velvet Underground classic captures everything you could ask for in a cover song. Familiar and faithful without becoming a replica, "Pale Blue Eyes" borrows the best parts from the original (Reed's eternal melody, Morrison's delicate guitar) while Hince's dirty distortion and Mosshart's faraway delivery help make this [...]

After much consideration I have managed to put the top ten long-players that have rocked my world the most this year in list form. I'm going to get it written up before I decide to fine tune it any more! Where I have reviewed an album on the site I have included a link for your convenience. The one thing that surprised me compiling this list is that some of the records I waxed so lyrical about have ended up lower down the pile than I imagined. A couple in my top ten I have not even reviewed, not [...]

So today I stumbled upon this Cudi cover by Lissie. The Ellie Goulding cover of a Temper Trap song I posted a while ago seemed to be a crowd pleaser and this is up the same ally so I thought I'd share. It is an interesting rendition of "Pursuit of Happiness" with a female vocalist and it's pretty well done. Check out the video and download if you like it!
