Here’s the video for London based ElectroPop/House act Ursa Minor (Little Bear) ’s 909 fuelled new single Ha! . It’s a hunting, imposing, track with 90s House overtones, and the clip is suitably retro, laden with vintage video effects. Ha! features on Ursa Minor (Little Bear)’s Shell EP, out now. What does Bob Something, aka Robert Ellis Orrall , do? Whatever the hell he wants. His one-man solo project, Monkey Bowl , released its third eclectic pop album, Space , last July on Plastic 350 Records along with Art Circus ' Apples & Oranges and the little bear 's eponymous release. Space , not an album to be pigeonholed, is a diverse, mellow, lyric-driven record that outfits accessible pop in various masks from soft and acoustic ("And You Were a Spaceship," "For the Hard Days Ahead") to bright and sparkling [...]
It’s been a fair few months since we heard anything from London based left-field ElectroPop collective Ursa Minor (Little Bear) , but they haven’t been waiting their time as their forthcoming new single proves. ‘Droplet Affection’ is a massive, euphoric Pop tune with more heart and soul than you could ever need. Musically ‘Droplet Affection’ comes across as and, almost Balearic, Summer House track played by a live band, which adds a nice live shuffle to the rhythms and gives the Ibiza style hooks and arpeggios a raw power beyond that of House music. All [...]

Live & Reel , a one-take acoustic monthly video series profiling Nashville's independent musicians, debuted last month with awesome performances by Natalie Prass and Evan P. Donohue . On Oct. 14, Live & Reel caught indie folk act the little bear on camera. The band decorated the studio with pretty lights and candles for the occasion and premiered three new songs. You can watch and download "Sweet As Honey" and "Hello" here ; join Live & Reel's mailing list to see the third, "Heaven."
Ursa Minor (Little Bear) are a London based outfit consisting of Little Bear, Yoshee, Evee and KTP who set about creating a kind of live, House influenced, synthesizer soundscape. It’s really hard to pigeonhole Ursa Minor (Little Bear), I can definitely hear a root in the heyday of 90’s House and, more specifically, DancePop but they have taken that basis and moved it to a raw, live place. Like a garage Dance act there is an excitement, and urgency, about the real drumming and analog synth riffs and something almost freeform and jazzy in the musicianship. All [...]
![LittleBear: Army Of Trees [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1599413_lg.jpg)
The cover art for Army Of Trees by LittleBear naturally features a forest, as does the image of Nick Principe, LittleBear's sole member, shown above. Likewise, the music sounds like nature overproduced, but not in a bad way. The vocals are clear and the instrumentation a windy memory; dream-like. Army Of Trees is a warm and soothing mix songs that are pleasant and a little unexpected. Take, for example, opener "The Beaverkill", which kicks off with a relaxing near shoe-gaze drone of guitar notes which builds as [...]

Well the rainy season has started over here in the Bay Area and I honestly couldn't be happier. Sound weird? Well when you haven't seen rain in 3 months you might feel the same way. Anyway, the music world is buzzing with awesomeness and I'm here to project it to you listeners and sift out the crap. So here's what I've found... Pallers While their track "Humdrum" has been floating around for sometime, Pallers are ready to release an official EP off Labrador Records on [...]

Little Bear has a great little release in the form of a 4 track EP entitled "Army of Trees" that is recently collected, recorded and released for all to have. "All to have" as it is a complimentary download! We all like free music, but I think we often push aside free music as "not quite good enough" which is not the case here. Little Bear puts together an organic, folk and even slightly Alt Country release that is definitely worthy of a little bit of play - or maybe a [...]

First, and just so we get this out of the way, I saw Spenny on the subway on the way home from school on Thursday. Very exciting. I almost challenged him to see who could stay on the subway longer, but, well, I've got stuff to do ya' know? Okay, now for the good stuff. Some good singer-songwriter stuff that has crossed my proverbial desk (I actually work on the couch - for the inquiring minds that want to know) in the last little while... 1. Jon McKiel [...]
One man band Nick Principe of Little Bear has created a tantalizing EP with Army of Trees, and I for one need more. In what must have been a busy summer Principe isolated himself, presumably in nature, somewhere in upstate New York. Seclusion for artists has had a history of success; see Thoreau and Emerson. Little Bear does little to buck the trend offering up a short and sweet four track EP covering topics from animals and waterfalls to jungles and brush. The songs themselves follow an indie folk style reminiscent of Iron and [...]
Though Santa Cruz, California's LittleBear [Official Site, Myspace] may give the impression of a full band, it is actually the work of one Nick Principe. His latest offering is an EP, Army of...
I was chatting with a college friend on Monday. The subject settled on work eventually. She didn't have much to say about her job. I didn't have much to say about school. We fill our days with static, it seems. And then a guy named Nick Principe who records under the moniker LittleBear emailed me about a new EP that he recorded in upstate New York, and about how afterwards he went where the
So after spending the whole weekend in the hospital, I was delighted to find that I was pretty much the only person who had neglected the website. To everyone who sent me anything to review over the past couple days - I will most definitely get to it. First on the list, because it was [...]
