Awww nawwww he done did it again!!!! Get it while the gettin is good... Word on the street is that Zo! and the homie Phonte (of Little Brother) have only pressed up 2500 copies of their new project, Zo! and Tigallo Love the 80's . So why am I spreading the news? Because I got a chance to remix their remake (that's what I said) of Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out". Blasphemous? Nah. Homage? Yes! And I was even lucky enough to get the vocals from PhonTigallo Pain himself... The remix [...]

Ok, I love Jean Grae ! She is probably the most talented female emcee in the game today. Strike that, one of the most talented emcees in the game, male, female, or martian. Unfortunately she has no gimmick, no significant label backing, and thus no mainstream attention. What to do, what to do? Well, there is one way to solve this problem. Put her together with a star making producer! Blacksmith (aka Talib Kweli's boutique label) [...]

Thursday's head-nod business comes courtesy of Little Brother with 9th Wonder on the beat. This one comes in anticipation of the re-release of Mick Boogie/LB collab mixtape, And Justus For All , on June 10th. Look out for this and more exclusive no-dj bonus heat on that mixtape in about two weeks. Shouts to the non-stop hustle at 2dope . Little Brother - Two Step Blues Been a long week? YES, it has been. For you, for me, for your boss, and even for your mother. Have no doubts though, as this weekend is gonna rock socks. You know how I know? Cause the weather is beautiful, and you've got Little Brother to bring in the evening hours with a delicious booty shake. If you're at work, wait to listen to this song til you get home. You're gonna wanna kick off your shoes, dance on your kitchen table, and act like a [...]
Benjamin William Harpo Cronin Lambert by Molly Lambert My brother is one year and four months younger than me. When we were little, everyone thought we were twins. I didn't mind. Now people think he is older, because he's way taller than me. I still don't mind. We are redheads with bedhead whose parents are Deadheads. [...]

I have to agree with The Bwog ; Columbia obviously didn't do any research before the Bacchanal show. Most people had never heard of Grizzly Bear , even though the band name was written on the ticket. Of course, I was one of the very few people who went to the show mostly to see Grizzly Bear. If you're curious about the National, check out my friend R's coverage here . Before this show, I'd never seen Grizzly Bear perform. I heard them play from afar when they were at [...]

Hey, look! A Hip-Hop act! Coachella still has those? Little Brother Who they are: Actually they are two brothas reppin' Durham, North Carolina... which I love because of Bull Durham , but hate more because of Duke Basketball. Suck it, Duke. Suck it hard. I hope Belmont kicks your asses! What they sound like: Well, here's the big question... because they used to have a 3rd brotha, producer 9th Wonder, [...]

1. Port O'Brien - I Woke Up Today - Hey you! Yes, you. Stomp your feet, clap your hands, and yell til you're hoarse. I want to see hot, stinging redness on those hands. I want you to sprain your ankle from stomping. And I want you to like it. [from All We Could Do Was Sing (out 5.13)| info ] 2. The Lionheart Brothers - I Burn Myself on You - She is the sun. She is very hot. She will burn you. She [...]

25. Chamillionaire ft. Slick Rick: "Hip Hop Police" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =If8e1x-6Uds Chamillionaire's a good rapper. His flow kind of reminds me of Krayzie Bone had he grown up chugging syrup through humid Houston summers. And unlike a lot of Southern rappers, Chamillionaire has interesting ideas, even if he doesn't always know the best way to implement them. "Hip Hop Police" is one of those moments where he connects, with Paul Wall's former better half in storytelling mode, venting about the hip-hop police playing the role of [...]
Little Brother - Good Clothes I thought I would post some good hip-hop for a change. This coming weekend I'll be going to Vermont to play a show with my band, then drive back to Philly the following day to work the M.I.A./Cool Kids show. Stay posted for coverage. In the meantime check out a song off the new Little Brother joint. [...]

Sans 9th Wonder Little Brother dropped The Getback on Tuesday . The North Carolina duo consisting of Big Pooh and Phonte. I worried that having them part ways with 9th would result in a production drop off but the duo came up huge by keeping 9th for some tracks and then having some of the best do work for them. Hi-Tek, and Denaun Porter both produce tracks and probably the most hard hitting song "Good Clothes" was produced by a dude that helped them with their mixtapes, Illmind. The best part about this [...]

Katie. I just drove 18 hours yesterday. From Texas all the way through Oklahoma City and back to Chicago. Long road with lots of Christians everywhere. But New Young Pony Club is in town tonite over at Subterranean . Should be a good time. I'm surprised that they are playing at such a low key venue- def. not a complaint at all, every show I've seen over there has been awesome. Who knows. I posted the Mehdi remix a bit ago, so that's why it's missing. New Young [...]
Little Brother - " Two Step Blues " Cool joint off of the new Little Brother album GetBack - which right now is definitely a favorite amongst the staff. On the album, these cats are flowin' like they have a chip on their shoulder and are also as easy to relate to and comedic as ever. It also just dawned on me just how prolific these guys have been within the past four years: (What is about to be) 3 full length group albums, The Chitlin' Circuit and Separate [...]

Nicolay is an amazing producer. Really. When the Foreign Exchange album dropped in 04, I was floored. That was one of the best albums released that year. Now, in 06 he's dropped the Here album. I gave it a listen and for some reason I wasn't feelin it. Tracks have recently seeped into my playlists and I've finally given them a propper listen. I stand corrected, there's some damn good cuts on this album. I don't think I made any "he fell off!" statements but I may have. So, I apologize. Let's get to [...]

Video game inspired mp3s after the jump. A few years ago I picked up an Atari 2600 and a bunch of games at a thrift store. I never had an Atari as a kid. I always had to go to the neighbor's house to play his Atari, which was frustrating because he could give me a sound thrashing on pretty much every game. Finally, after much begging, I did get my own videogame system, but it was, dammit, Intellivision ("intelligent television"). 16 bits be dammed, it just didn't have the [...]

Its no secret that M Ward is a favorite here at Each Note Secure. Transfigurations of Vincent is in my top 10 albums of all time and Post War is not far from it. So, when I found out he would be back at Little Brothers , the Columbus bar where I saw him almost two years ago, I jumped at the chance to take in the show. It seemed that it was a bad night for anything but Ohio State football in Columbus though and my wife and I enjoyed a quiet dinner in a nice [...]
