Mary wrote about Little Comets ' infectiously catchy new single, "Adultery" the other week , and since then their people have got in touch to show us a rather cool "Making of" video. You can catch the finished video here: Click here to view the embedded video. Aaaaand to get the full Little Comets experience, watch them playing a gig in, errr, Marks and Spencers in Newcastle. Following on from the amazing lineups of the past two years , the Mencap Little Noise sessions are back again this November to raise more money for the mental disability charity. The lineup is almost complete, with a string of pretty amazing performances scheduled. Personally, I'm most excited about Editors day, along with the pop-tastic Alexandra Burke, Mika and Newton Faulkner days - all of the shows have great talent and with the promise of special guests, I say you should hop on down to Union Chapel to check out some great music. Head [...]

Little Comets are four Geordie blokes that make what has been described by some as 'kitchen sink indie music'. I can't really make that judgment from this one-off single, 'Adultery', released Monday on the Columbia label. In the promo video for 'Adultery', the band want you to forget about The Scarlet Letter : this is adultery for the 21st century, with gratituous trysts taking place in a modern art installation. Does going around in circles give you motion sickness? If so, I'd advise you closing your eyes. But the song [...]
little comets - adultery little comets - one night in october [from bbc: Little Comets are a "four-piece multi-pronged quadrilateral" from Newcastle-upon-Tyne. They play 'kitchen sink indie' music, citing Debussy, Roald Dahl, Ella Fitzgerald and Paul Simon as influences. In early 2009 the band were signed to Columbia Records and are currently recording their debut album in France. In early 2009 they released the single 'One Night in October' through Lucky Number Records, reaching number 3 in the UK independent singles charts. The single was played by Huw Stevens, Zane [...]

Thursday night on the Cowley Road, Oxford. It's drizzly outside but warm in the O2 Academy , and as we enter we're greeted by a steward who informs us of the forthcoming entertainment and hopes we enjoy the evening. So for some ale and to find a good spot to stand to see Little Comets . It's good to see a band self-roadieing - setting up - as well as hanging percussion instruments from a string strung above them, from one side of the stage to the other. After a short while they return to the [...]
It's no small secret that the UK produces some infectious new artists every year and sits among my favorite places for discovering emerging artists. The Newcastle foursome of Little Comets [ MySpace ] are another in a long ling of bands bringing a high degree of energy and polish to not only their recorded material, but stage show while still incorporating the witty vocal banter indicating their youth and whimsy. Think Modest Mouse pre-Johnny Marr. Or post-Johnny. Not sure if you even like Johnny. Let's leave him out of this as [...]

"Adultery" est leur premier single, qui sortira le 26 octobre. Ce morceau a tout du tube de pop-rock anglais comme les radios les aiment, mais en plus... eh ben j'aime bien. C'est bien écrit (sans être exceptionnel, hein, mais ça va vous rentrer facilement dans la tête), que ce soit les paroles ou la musique, c'est super accrocheur [...]

4 syllables go a long way.

Little Comets are the rarity: an intelligent indie band. So says the press release. As the degradation of the term 'indie' continues to gather further momentum with rat-faced pricks crying out to 'be somebody'', is the idea of an intelligent indie band now a contradiction in terms? If The Enemy / Scouting for Girls / The Twang etc are seen as 'indie', why would anybody intelligent want to associate themselves with the now defunct term anyway? It's been the victim of a bastard generalization. I think 'indie' now means music with guitars, which is vague. I wouldn't [...]

Well Viv thought it would be a good idea for us to swap roles and he post his favourite dance tracks (at the moment) and I post my favourite Alternative/Rock/Indie tracks (at the moment) all in the name of diversity. So here they are. Enjoy. Download: Backstreet Lovers - The Crookes (Right Click, Open in new window) (Alt Link) Download: One Night In October [...]
whilst it might be lazy of me to describe them as so, up-and-coming Hereford band Apples do take after NY darlings, Vampire Weekend . however, similarly to Little Comets , Apples provide their own unique spin on making 'exotic' sounding indie pop. if sunshine had a sound this would definitely be it, i'd keep my eye on these guys if i were you. Apples - Reason 45 (Demo) and speaking of Little Comets, here's a song [...]

If we're talking astronomically, then yes, even the little ones are pretty damn big. Musically, they might not be that big yet, but Little Comets are shooting towards us at light speed. Been seeing their name pop up on some blogs, most recently on Neon Gold , who I think really has a solid finger on the pulse. They're a four-piece from Newcastle sounding somewhere between Supergrass and The Wombats after a lengthy summer vacation somewhere tropical. A good intro to the band is One Night In October , the [...]

[Photo by Jazzy Lemon ] Kitchen sink indie pop. Why kitchen sink? Think "everything but the," and turn it into a musical philosophy, and you've got Little Comets , kitchen sink indie poppers from Newcastle who believe wholeheartedly in the value of the ambush gig. Since they first formed in 2008, they've never been big fans of doing what the other kids do, like playing concert halls and bars. They prefer university lecture halls and public transportation. But they're no mariachi band on a subway [...]
