We've covered the work of Will Phillips a few times on the blog before but much has changed since our last update in September . Will previously released dreamy synthpop under the name Little Loud up until 2012 when he decided to rebrand as Tourist . Getting comfortable in the new outfit, he's preparing for his debut Placid Acid EP set to release on March 12th via UK label Make Mine . Just about a month ago, Will gave his introduction to Tourist by streaming the album's first song titled "Placid Acid." The [...]

New Mixtape! Commuute - A Portable Playlist Sometimes it feels nearly impossible to go anywhere without a pair of headphones and some really good tunes blasting in your ears. It doesn't matter where you're going or how you get there- try making this music the soundtrack and see if it doesn't make the commute a little easier. This mix is designed specifically for strutting, but it should work on any mode of transportation. Some songs for the travel to your destination, and a few in there for your way home- [...]

Tweet The Brighton music scene is often thought of as a hot-bed of middle of the road indie-rock bands, think Kooks *shudder*, the Maccabees etc. But more recently we've been able to highlight some of the more varied sounds from the city including Abi Wade , The Robot Heart , the Tru Thoughts label Pope Joan and Tall Ships . An increasingly respected producer from Brighton is Will Phillips, aka Tourist . He's more known [...]

Remember when we couldn't figure out who Little Loud was? Turns out he's Will Phillips (…), and he has a new name: Tourist. His EP, Placid Acid, is due in March. This is good news. Until then, here's the title track to tide you over. It's just what you would expect from the musical genius that is/was Little Loud. Clean, melodic, mellowed out but infused with some kind of focused energy. Happy Monday!

The gentleman in the picture above is Tourist. In a previous life he was known as Little Loud, but that moniker is now dead. Which is a shame, because all of us here at the blog were fans. Luckily the name change hasn't meant his new material is any less exciting. The material in question is a song called 'Placid Acid', which is going to be on an EP released on Make Mine in March. It starts off quiet and almost - so very nearly! - sounds like it's about to drop into a garage influenced beat. That is just [...]

Tourist is the artist formerly known as Little Loud , and I was given the opportunity to simmer with his forthcoming Tourist EP this week. This kid from Brighton produces clear, upbeat chillwave that references the better sounds coming out of 2009 as demonstrated by this debut single, "Placid Acid". You can purchase the full EP from Make Mine when it's out on March 12.

We're not entirely sure if a bonafide music scene can actually exist in a city anymore. Since that damn Internet thingy got invented it seems that everyone's " into a bit of everything ", so tribes don't properly exist in large numbers like they used to in decades gone by, and scenes -where lots of bands share a sound, a fashion or a culture - don't generally gather much momentum in the modern era. These days, what we seem to have in their place is simply a bunch of bands, from all ends of the spectrum and a multitude of genres, that [...]
I introduced you to Little Loud , young electronic artist from the United Kingdom, back in March with his remixes for Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti and Clock Opera. I've been following his work since then and am excited to see that he's been working on some productions of his own recently. It seems as though his practice with remixing has paid off with his first two tracks that were just released online as they are definitely a step up from most artist debuts. An EP is definitely in the works here, however, no announcements have been made [...]

Memory Tapes (AKA Dayve Hawk) has been growing quickly on us since we featured " Wait In The Dark " in our Weekend Burn about a month ago (see our Weekend Burn archive here ). Since this time, we've realized how remixable Hawk's music was and to no surprise, did we find not only Memory Tapes remixed by multiple well-known DJs, but that our boy Dayve did quite a few himself. In the list below, you'll notice yet another Phoenix remix. If you're interested in more of these, we just put our [...]

Little Loud // Claude Debussy Hi there. I shan't keep you too long today, but these are two songs which are worth a minute (actually, back-to-back it's about 12 minutes) of your time. They're pretty good to have in the same post too, as one is originally from the 19402s and the other is very contemporary. Anyway, we'll start with the new one. It's from a Brighton-based producer/remixer called Little Loud. This song is the 802s like you've never heard it before. It took [...]

Clock Opera are from London. They make what can only really be described as pop music. It is not the kind of pop you're likely to hear on Capital FM, Radio 1 and the legions of other popular stations. This is a band who are making music that deserves to be listened to by people who are into house-y stuff, ballads, electro, indie... The list goes on. Having recently signed to Moshi Moshi they've released the song 'Belongings', which is a slow build to an ending that, frankly, you wished didn't end. Clock Opera - Belongings [...]

Little Loud, aka Will Phillips, is an electronic popster from Brighton, UK who has a very soothing portfolio of chillwave remixes. This young chap has been revisiting tracks from a variety of artists over the past year including Memory Tapes, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Yeasayer and even Bruce Springsteen. He seems to put them on stage with a synthetic orchestra to create an elaborate version of its original sound. Although covering quite a diverse range of genres, Little Loud has kept consistency by topping his signature soft cosmic experience to each track. With an echoed [...]

Ariel Pink (born Ariel Marcus Rosenberg on June 24, 1978) is a Los Angeles based experimental/pop music ian. Pink boasts a cult following and endorsements from more widely known artists such as fellow founding Paw Tracks group Animal Collective. Album #23: Head First by Goldfrapp The number of people who still care about Goldfrapp seems to be dropping with each release since their third record Supernature . I, for one, am still on board. Head First is the most straight-forward pop record Goldfrapp have yet made. In fact, a lot of the time it sounds like it could by a Kylie Minogue album as Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory craft Head First 's massive singalongs with ease (at least they don't sound laboured over...a good thing). Plus, [...]
In which I bring you every good remix ever. Hold on to your hats. For this week's dose of celestial beauty, we look to LA's Active Child and Phantogram, of upstate New York, who both toy expertly with a couple of songs off School of Seven Bells' spring release, Disconnect from Desire. Bells' Cranberries moment "Heart [Read Full Post...]

Girl Talk (Greg Gillis) When discussing the best mash-up artists, Girl Talk is widely considered the King of Kings. Girl Talk, also known as Greg Gillis, is the best there is. The album Feed The Animals is a big favorite of ours here at inALLcaps.com. It's over 54 minutes of mash-up madness and got played hundreds of times on road trips, pre-party warm ups, and of course was on the playlist of countless trips to the gym. [...]

We run an ongoing series here on The Recommender called ' Remix Specials ', where we select those artists, producers and DJs who have built up a significantly impressive collection of remixes. Previous editions involved Soulwax , The Knocks , The Shoes , Bloc Party , Starsmith , The Golden Filter and DiscoTech . We've had one eye secured on today's DJ, Little Loud , ever since we first heard his remix of Yeasayer 's Madder Red. His remixes have a certain signature to them, like all the [...]
