Little Sur have given us their video for Patterns In Canvas , which consists of over a year's worth of footage collected of the band. We also have Wolf People's video for All Returns , shot in performance mode from their rehearsal space and Valleys' Tillie Perks' haunted travels through a city at night for Undream a Year . Lastly, watch Kaki King's beautifully shot video in black and white for No True Masterpiece Will Ever Be Complete from latest album Glow . [...]

You Ran With Me is Little Sur's second offering and a fine collection it is too, the songs are to quote the band "snapshots of moments shared with others; family, friends, and lovers" the recording features s host of collaborators and was recorded over a six month period in 2011/12 in New York City and blended together with field recordings captured in San Francisco and Stinson Beach California during the summer of 2011. You could get the EP for free though you'd likely feel a tinge of quilt so give what you can. You [...]

It's one of life's little peculiarities that while the days, weeks and months fly by so past, seasons can still seem to last forever. This Winter especially seems to have been draping its murky cloth upon us for far too long now. If you're looking for some form of escape, a little window into brighter days and heightened hopes, then we recommend drifting off into day-thoughts accompanied by the subtle and breezy tones of Little Sur . Coming out of NYC, the band are Josh Meer and a revolving cast of creative collaborators and they've recently released a new EP entitled [...]

Little Sur has perfectly meshed some of the best elements of bluegrass and folk and their newly released You Ran With Me is a showcase for it all. Put together in California, a state to which I've never ventured, it is what I imagine (when dreaming of sun and ocean) music from there should sound like if it were to be called perfect. Bits of Appalachia and surf combine and the waves that result from that quake are awash in happiness. You Ran With Me is available at Bandcamp for whatever [...]

We've been playing this little beauty since we received it from Little Sur , a folk band from New York (and school mates of MM faves Town Hall ). It is a six track EP titled You Ran With Me and features some banjo which is always good to hear! Head over to their Bandcamp page to hear more and get it on a name-your-price deal. This isn't one to miss we promise. Follow @madmackerel

Little Sur is a NYC based band that I follow. They have just released their second collection of music entitled You Ran With Me . The record was recorded in NY and in California. There are some found sounds in this recording - notably the sound of the ocean - on the song "The Coast Towards Home". "The Coast Towards Home" features almost all of the band's players and extended family of musicians. Banjo, percussion, guitar and towards the end trumpet combine with layered vocals to create a wonderful indie folk soundtrack. [...]
A Quick Word from the Author: As I mentioned in week 25, EARMILK is currently in the gradual and delicate process of refining our features, aiming to provide more than just lists of tracks, but solid editorials. A big part of this process is creating a feature that tailors to you, the fans, and your needs. We've implemented some more changes to the Sabbath, mainly categorizing the sets by the 'feel' of the music, if you will, as well as implementing a few more visuals and tracking back to the Straight From the Teet features. In [...]

92YTribeca is hosting another great folk show on March 30th with 2 emerging NYC acts and one New England guest: Brooklyn's singer-songwriter Will Stratton, NYC based folk collective Little Sur and Boston duo Tall Heights. Will Stratton (pictured) is a California born artist who studied music composition at Bennington College, where he composed his first string quartet pieces. He released his first album, "What the Night Said," in 2007, and his second "No Wonder," in 2009. His music - lush, mellow and textured - features an extremely personal guitar style based on syncopated arpeggios, supported by occasional [...]
![LITTLE SUR THE LATEST NYU BAND TO GET SOME BUZZ [FREE EP]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3981230_lg.jpg)
New York’s Little Sur (@littlesur) has generated a great deal of buzz given that they've has only played a few shows. Led by NYU seniors Jesse Aicher and Josh Meer, this indie folk outfit has already landed one of their songs on hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother . “A Retrospective’s Bliss”, from their eponymously-titled debut EP, has a back porch appeal that manages to be both whimsical and rootsy, making me crave some small town charm and down home cooking. “Barbarosa”, another standout track, features simple guitar lines that dovetail [...]

I think because of this blogs longevity and doggone stubborness it inevitably pops up near the top of any Google search for any roots music genre term combined with the words "music blog". For example type in "americana" and "music blog" and you guessed it #1. But type in "indie folk" and "music blog" and we're way down at #2 (ironically my other music blog Swedesplease is #1). So in an attempt to move up to # 1 in the all important "indie folk" music blog google search here is another post about an indie folk band [...]
