San Francisco's Little Teeth will be releasing their debut album, Child Bearing Man , September 9th on Absolutely Kosher . As is clear on the track " Japanese Candy " (mp3), the group's songs have a distinct vocal style that listeners will likely either hate or love. Personally, I really like the rough, chaotic nature of the vocals as they explore unexpected jumps and tones. To celebrate the release of Child Bearing Man , Little Teeth will be having a record release party on September 14th in San Francisco at Cafe Du Nord [...]

Little is what we know so far about Little Teeth. And this is what little we know. What surrounds the band is a strong raucous of a friendship, a touch of mental instability, and a rare look into music formed out of feminism. Clicky the pic for more info & their myspace: Amazon describes their debut album as being: "A record of growls, squeaks, sing-along choruses, complex wordplay, and made-up words, tied together with bluegrass mandolin, banjo, accordion, rock 'n' roll drums, [...]
Here's another interesting proposition from San Francisco that comes complete with a female vocalist, Dannie Murrie, who sounds curiously like Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell. Little Teeth are quite clearly loopy but there's also a deep intelligence at work. So while Murrie singcreeches the band lurch from one sonic juncture to another with the frequency of a toddler's bowel movements. It takes

At first impression one might want discard of Little Teeth as just some crazy kids making crazy music. You can probably leave it at that and just enjoy the craziness. Personally, I think it's brilliant. Consisting of three rather erratic souls, Little Teeth's music isn't for everyone. (But then what is?)Lead singer Dannie Murrie growls, shrieks and snarls more than she actually sings at times, which combined with their quirky melodramatic indie-pop might be a bit too much for some. But if music isn't for channeling [...]

MP3: Little Teeth - "Japanese Candy" Screamo? No, but I'm sure the lead singer of Little Teeth would fit right in if she ever decided to cross over to that genre. If you prefer your vocals soft and in key, then Little Teeth might not be for you. Same if you don't like the banjo. The music is fun indie-pop but it's the melodramatic singing that make it stand out. Their debut album ( Childbearing Man ), which I highly recommend and might write more about later, will be out in September. [...]
Little Teeth - Japanese Candy. A lot of people traffic in insanity. A lot of bands try to sound like that moment when you're all by yourself and you sing some gibberish shit to yourself. I hear it more and more, especially from bands that just have one member. And most of the time it just doesn't work for me. It seems like it should really just be kept to themselves. But little Teeth here have really found a way to do it right. They're like an acoustic version of the Mae Shi back when Ezra was still in the...
Little Teeth are Dannie Murrie (Vox, Mandolin, Guitar, Accordian), Ammo Eisu (Vox, Drums, Cello, Violin) and Andy Tisdall (Vox, Bass, Banjo, Electronics). Little Teeth is the union of three strange souls, whose mystical convergence has bred their only faith. It started in the suburbs of Stockton, CA 1982; Dannie Murrie is born. Being the daughter of a singer/composer/pianist and accordion player, she was taught from a very young age to fire back at life's blows with the cannon of her voice. In a search for feminist rocker chicks, she began posting Craig's List ads in the Women [...]

The Afternoons just announced they will be doing the Monday night residency in June at Spaceland. The psychadelic indie pop group began as a side project of the much adored local act Irving and includes Irving members Aaron Burrows, Brent Turner and Steven Scott. Sadly, Irving quietly played what appears to be their last show a few months back as the members begin to focus more on other projects such as Sea Wolf . The Afternoons have been playing sporadic [...]
