A new video from Liturgy for the track "True Will," which comes off the experimental black metal band's latest album, Aesthethica . I've actually given the album a glowing review , and put it in my list of favorite 2011 albums . I usually don't go for these videos that choppily splice footage from various sources, but at least the video Liturgy compiles for this video has a consistent theme: The stranger side of religion.
When you're long-hauling it's annoying sitting by the wing of a plane as the extra noise makes it imposs to catch forty winks. You need 'True Will' to ignore. And the LITURGY 's new video needs much explaining.

Metal band Liturgy have released a new video for their song "True Will" from 2011's Aesthethica . The new song features religious imagery in the background, so if you're offended by black metal playing behind Jesus, you may not want to watch the video below. Read more »

Suena [...]

New Party Systems is a new supergroup, featuring TV On The Radio's Kyp Malone and two current and former members of Liturgy, and their track "We Are" is an honorable attempt at creating an anthem for the Occupy Wall Street movement. The group doesn't show up in the video. Instead, starry-eyed Occupy sympathizers from around the world lip-sync the lyrics and generally show off the sort of fresh-faced idealistic glow that you only ever see at protests. Watch it below. As previously reported, TV on the Radio's Kyp Malone recently teamed with ex-Liturgy drummer Greg Fox to record Occupy Wall Street-inspired music. As Pitchfork points out, their first collaboration has now hit the web, an anthem titled "We Are" released under the moniker New Party Systems. Dave First, formerly of The Notekillers, composed the track with Malone supplying vocals, Fox on drums, and Liturgy's Bernard Gann on bass. Oneidia drummer Kid Millions was also reportedly involved in the collaboration, but does not appear on the track. An mp3 is available for stream and/or purchase below. Further [...]

It's that time of year to look back on the past 12 months and say "what the hell happened to the last 12 months?!". It's also that time of year where us music bloggers and self-proclaimed critics take the time to put together some Best Of lists for your reading pleasure. They don't really mean a whole lot and you can love 'em or leave 'em, but it seems like the right thing to do to sum up the year in preparation of the next. This year we're featuring personal lists from all of our fantastic writers. [...]
