Living Things is the creation of three St. Louis brothers who have been playing and recording in their parents' basement since they were in elementary school. A band that's been called everything from punk to psychedelic to Buddy Holly-esque, Living Thing isn't interested in the typical, proven by the fact that the trio's first concert [...]

Even when he's not backed by his band Thrice, O.C.'s Dustin Kensrue [pictured] has some pretty formidable songwriting chops, as he displayed on his solo album "Please Come Home," released two years ago this month. Kensrue gets top billing on a tour called "Where's the Band?" — which features the frontmen of four rock bands going it by themselves. Kensrue, along with Matt Pryor of the Get Up Kids, Chris Conley of Saves the Day and Anthony Raneri of Bayside, hits the Troubadour tonight. ... The Rumble LA rumbles back [...]
We remember a time when Rolling Stone used to do a wrap-up issue at the end of each year with their critics top ten. Now every website on the planet (including ours!) spews out their own, holier than thou list. But RS used to have the decency to ask the popular artists of the time to submit their own top ten lists, which were either good for a chuckle or a trip to the record store. In the spirit of sending you off to buy some new records, we've asked a few bands/musicians/writers to give us a [...]

Everybody knows what I speak of: the local modern rock station owned by a large corporation that plays soulless music a majority of the time only in effort to drive ad sales. They are populated by aggro DJ's who speak constantly of their hooking-up prowess and make witty jokes ...

The Brighton , England band, known as Brakes to me and most everywhere except America, is known under the moniker Brakesbrakesbrakes stateside. Despite the "difficult to say five times fast" name they have when they come visit us, I found singer/guitarist Eamon Hamilton and bassist Marc Beatty to be extremely nice guys, as you shall read in the following exchange between us. In the first half of my interview with them prior to them sound-checking at D.C.'s Black Cat on October 5, they tell me about recording their latest [...]

So JB and I are going to a rock show tonight. And the reason we are going to a rock show tonight is because our friends Jeff and Monique just had a baby, which means they've been trapped at home taking care of the little guy for like 2 months straight now. So when Monique said "Oh, The Bravery are coming!! We should totally go to that show!", JB and I RAN to the Ogden to buy tickets, then RAN back to where Monique was standing finishing that thought, and before the words were even out of her mouth, we [...]
