After three months of radio silence, Local H just posted an update on their site: "We've kept you waiting for four looong years for a new Local H record.... and you're gonna have to wait just a little longer. We're getting closer: tracking was done in January, mixing and mastering will be finished in February. [...]

Hard rockers Local H have returned to the studio to record the group's first full-length album in nearly four years. And the band is allowing fans to check out the results. The duo of Scott Lucas and Brian St. Clair filmed themselves during varying parts of the recording process and posted the clips to the band's Facebook page (like this one ). It looks like most of the new jams, such as "Another Februrary" and "Paddy Considine," that surfaced during last year's touring cycle will appear on the new [...]

Disappears Annnnnnd, it's the final Weekend Diversions of 2011. So sad. So, so, so sad. Or is it? Yes, it is. Maybe. Either way, there's no shortage of rad New Years Eve shows we just have to talk about this weekend. Of course, there's Disappears at the Bottle or Local H at the Bottom Lounge , but there's also JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound at Schubas tonight and so much more. Dig it, y'all. [...]

Up High in the Night (2001) Stab the Unstoppable Hero (2002) Must have gotten these two Arlo releases from a SubPop publicist. I'd have to go back and look at SubPop's catalog releases during the early 2000s to see just how these fit into the stuff the label was putting out. Seems to me that it was between the mid-90s grunge/punk stuff and the later 2000s bearded folk stuff. Up High in the Night [...]

Nirvana dressed for a white wedding Breed (Nirvana Cover) by Titus Andronicus . Spin put a 20 year Nevermind comp out a little while back and I was surprised that TA broke their formula on this where they sound like a really rocking band versus a rowdy/horsy version of Crooked Fingers. Complete with octave pedal. Pretty good. Territorial Pissings MP3 (Nirvana Cover) by Local H . this is from a whole show of Nirvana covers. Kind of funny but if you think about it they are [...]

Ah man you haven't heard of Matt Pinfield ? What's wrong with you? You must of been really stoned in the 902s or your're from Canada. The music industry in the world of DJs and VJs was pretty much catered and curated by him all the way from with his early College Radio days in the mid 802s to today. If there is a up and coming act Uncle Matty knows about them - no researcher tells him. He just listens and literally gives them a spin. One of those place was the old Melody Bar on French Street [...]

This week rocker Scott Lucas made his second appearance on Coach House Sounds , this time representing his longtime project Local H . Lucas, armed with an acoustic guitar and sheet music, pulled out some rarities such as "Grrrlfriend" from Local H's 1995 debut album Ham Fisted , "O.K." from 1996's As Good As Dead and "PJ Soles" from 2004's Whatever Happened to PJ Soles . The entire set is worth watching, but if you're looking for a particular song the session's audio is available here .
Have you ever wanted to know more about the history about Wicker Park live venue Double Door ? Cable channel Fuse TV shot this documentary on the club, which aired earlier this year on its Comcast-only OnDemand service, which includes appearances by Chicago rockers Scott Lucas (Local H) and Greg Corner (Kill Hannah) as well as Double Door owner Andy Barrett and his long-time staffers. Find out which shows still stand out and why so many bands opt to play there.

Local H is back, baby! The band just wrapped up its "All The Hits All Night" tour last Sunday at the Metro and now we're getting a taste of new material the band has in store for its next album. Drummer Brian St. Clair shared a demo for new song "Cold Manor," which has been popping up on Local H's set lists for the past couple of months. The track seems to bridge the area between frontman Scott Lucas' work with the Married Men and Local H. "Cold Manor" is epic pop rock at its finest with [...]

All's well that ends well. Sure, it rained all week, but it's nice and sunny outside with just a tiny nip in the air. Naturally, that means it is time to party down while we still can. This weekend, especially, is a doozy. There are so many great shows that it is almost impossible to choose among them. Some of the shows we're all abuzz over are Gypsyblood at Liar's Club , Dead Milkmen at Congress Theater and Local H at the Metro . Let's hop to it, [...]

[Local H live at The Riot Room, Kansas City, MO in 2008. Photos courtesy of Todd Zimmer. See his Flickr stream [ HERE ]] The Chicago power duo Local H are a bit of a rock n' roll time capsule. Although they formed in 1987, the band first hit the mainstream in the the post-Cobain years with their 1996 FM smash "Bound for the Floor", which couldn't help but remind alt-rock fans of their departed hero. The album that featured the single, As Good As Dead, generated several more radio classics, including "Eddie Vedder" [...]

Local H at The Brighton Bar Long Branch NJ The duo tradition of musicians goes back a long ass ways. Local H is one the greatest unknown bands who are cocky in their own right and maybe a little pissed they weren't as cute as Jack White's counter part. Alas on album their records sound just as full as their live show. They started their thing pre-grunge in 1986 and have been somehow managing to keep bringing the music post Cobain. Tonight this working band will jam it out at Brighton Bar [...]
As one of the strongest rock duo's still around today, Local H came out wednesday night (4/20) and did not disappoint. Out supporting for their greatest hits album, Local H: The Island
