This is a very quiet time of the year when it comes to new music. Most major bands don’t start releasing material until February or March, so January can be seen as a reflective time. 20112s Top 50 list took me quite a while to finish, but I must say that I’m pretty happy with it overall. Now I find myself wondering what I should be looking forward to in 2012. If the Mayans are to be believed, the world shall be ending sometime in late December. This only leaves 11 more months of new music until mankind is lost [...]

Heads up, New Yorkers! It's the giving season, and the gentlemen of Locksley are throwing a holiday shindig at The Bell House in Brooklyn to benefit P.S. 142. To put it simply, we think you should be there. For the low, low price of $15 (with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the kids), you'll get a stellar show featuring Locksley, with special guests Lily and the Parlour Tricks, Nat Brower & the Power, The Jonnies, Raccoon Fighter, and Little Racer, just to name a few. [...]
Very rarely am I at a concert and only have my focus on the opening (rather than the headlining) band. It’s not that I wasn’t excited to see the Wombats last night; I was just overly excited to see the Postelles . Their album has wormed its way into my personal rotation since I first heard it in June, and after the show I made a point to get it on vinyl (side note: I am a hipster). But, as I’ve been in the position before, let’s show some love to the opening band. [...]

Photo by Bobby Russell On September 30, New York City-based quartet Locksley opened for the bluesy rock veteran Will Hoge at Vinyl , the smaller and more intimate of the three stages that make up the Center Stage complex. This particular Friday was like so many others: The end of a long week, a dimly lit bar, friends meeting up, and just all around good vibes. Everyone who arrived early (and this was just about enough folks to fill up the place) was just relaxing and mellowing in this chill atmosphere. [...]
Mondays are for getting excited about CMJ! Jonquil - 'Get up' Chad Valley - 'Fast Challenges' The Forms - 'Steady Hand' featuring Andrew Thibaldeux (Pattern is Movement) LiL iFFy - 'Patron Us' The Beets - 'Friends of Friends'
So, who's excited that CMJ is just around the corner? Well, amongst the many thousands of other potential revelers, WE ARE. The Ruckus will be in NYC next week, watching bands and hanging out and generally being awesome. Our most exciting CMJ related announcement, however, is that in exactly one week, the Fleming Artists and HMG Public Relations showcase is taking place at the beautiful Rockwood Music Hall , Stage 2. This is exciting because the showcase features some [...]
It's safe to say, in this day and age, that defining what constitutes "punk" music is irrationally difficult. Classicists will tell you that it means 3-4 chords, lightning-fast drums, a general disregard for playing instruments BESIDES drums with extreme skill, and lyrics focused on dissent, disturbance, and general disquiet with the way things are. Others [...]
This song is catchy as shit and the video is a riot! I dare you NOT to dance along!

Madison, WI indie rockers Locksley described their recent self-titled LP as "doo-wop punk". Despite the massive gap between genres, the sound itself is a high-energy blast of pure rock and roll abandonment tailor made for live gigs. Thankfully, there's plenty of chances to do just that as the band have announced additional U.S. tour dates for this fall. With a few shows later this month, the real action kicks off on October 1st in Modesto, CA. From there, it's on to rock hot spots like LA, NYC, Chicago, IL, and even a random gig in Japan [...]
The Society of Illustrators is celebrating their Rolling Stone Art exhibit with a rock n' roll show. The bands playing are Locksley, Lily & The Parlour Tricks and our bros Raccoon Fighter. It's $10 to get in. Info & Tickets: For The Record
A few weeks ago I played Locksley's The Whip in a podcast. I think I compared them to vintage Weezer, just because I had a hard time staying ...

Earlier this week I was pleasantly surprised to find a great little rock n' roll band called Locksley in my inbox. It reminds me at times of Sweet, T. Rex and other glam party bands of the late 70's. Add a dash of Weezer's 90's rock sensibility and you have a great soundtrack [...]

With songs from their previous releases frequenting commercials and selected tracks appearing on games such as Rock Band , chances are even if you don't know Locksley , you know them. With incredibly catchy choruses and interminable energy, the Madison, WI based quartet has been releasing tunes since the early 2000s. Their third full length LP Locksley is more of the same British Invasion-indebted, formulaic pop songs, refusing to hide influences and refusing to slow down the tempo. It's a collection of frenetic, fun tracks that won't drastically change the rock 'n' roll landscape, but [...]

Locksley at After The Jump Fest (08/25/07) Major League Baseball has set up a temporary " Fan Cave " in the old Tower Records space on Broadway and 4th. They are doing a series of free concerts there including one tonight featuring After The Jump Fest vets Locksley . The show starts at 5pm and is open to all ages, but space is limited! Check out the cool (but slightly old) video for Locksley's "The Whip" after the jump. [...]

When it comes to Mondays, few things feel better than a straight up pop record; however, what might feel even greater is knowing that one is getting to experience said record a full two weeks before it’s supposed to officially hit hard drives. That’s exactly what’s going on below as CoS has teamed up with Wisconsin-born trio Locksley to give them the NPR treatment and stream the entirety of their self-titled debut LP (out July 12 th via the band’s own Feature Records). The reocrd is the first piece of recorded [...]
