VIDEO: Wilco on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert

Wilco stopped by the NPR Music offices and filmed a Tiny Desk Concert that was just posted this morning . The band plays three new cuts ("Dawned On Me," "Whole Love" & "Born Alone") and finished off with one of my favorites , "War On War." You've got to see how Glenn Kotche rocks the drums on this one... Photos / Videos: Pretty Lights @ Red Rocks, Colorado 8/13/11 Our friend Greg Maximov (drummer for The Neurovoltaic Orchestra ) recently flew out to Colorado to catch the Pretty Lights show at Red Rocks and took an amazing set of photos while him and his friends bopped along with Derek Vincent Smith's latest visual and aural assault on the famed amphitheater. Video: Phish – "Undermind" @ UIC 8/15/11 [Official]

Video: Phish – "Undermind" @ UIC 8/15/11 [Official] I'm finally sitting back at my desk in SF and I'm getting my first official re-listen of the first night that Phish played UIC Pavilion this past Monday. A week ago at this time I was packing up and getting ready for a 6am flight the next day to see Phish in Chicago, and as many have reported it was definitely an insanely strong show and almost felt like a completely different band than what fans were seeing on the West Coast. This was one of the highlights from the first night, the official [...]

Video: Phish – "Rock and Roll (jam) -> Steam" @ Outside Lands 2011

Phish - Rock and Roll jam into "Steam" @ Outside Lands 2011
I decided to shoot some video during the Phish set last night at the perfect moment. The jam out of "Rock and Roll" seemed to flow seamlessly into "Steam" last night, a song that people were definitely predicting would make an appearance more this tour and especially at Golden Gate Park . Predictions were correct amongst my crew and we got a great version of this tune last night right before a really solid "Piper" with tons of Type II action finishing it off. Make sure you launch the 720p version and go [...]

Video: Unofficial Phish Summer 2010 Video Compilation

You've likely already seen the whole lot of these if you follow our blog but this is still worth its own post. Some kind soul on YouTube named skriddler decided to splice together all of the professionally shot videos that Phish.com released this year and it's now one big three-hour video that easily demands your attention again on the next rainy or snowy day to grace your hood. I just got through the Cuyahoga "Backwards Down the Number Line" and it still gives me chills at the end. [...]

Long View: Marco Benevento Trio @ MASS MoCa – House of Usher 10/22/10

Long View: Marco Benevento Trio @ MASS MoCa – House of Usher 10/22/10 Ever since the news broke last year that Marco Benevento would be treating the classic film, House of Usher , to his own personal score and presentation of said score in a public setting, I always wondered how those shows came out. Thanks to cleantones on YouTube, we can see the whole show from October 22nd, 2010 that was filmed at the MASS MoCa during the few times this saw the light of day last year. From this review , it would seem as though the show was an outright success... [...]

Live Review: Lylah Crying @ The Carousel, Longview 10-29-10

Live Review: Lylah Crying @ The Carousel, Longview 10-29-10 Nestled in the a far corner of southwest Washington, a couple hours south of the alternative music capital of the world, and only a few dozen miles north of the indie capital, there lies a city that many Northwest dwellers may not know, but have likely passed through the fleeting and somewhat abandoned of all hope community that is the twin cities of Kelso-Longview. A once bustling industrial town that acts as the unofficial home to famed Mt. St. Helens, as well as the non Highway 101 gateway to the longest beach in the country. Although the times [...]

Long View: Girl Talk Releases NYE 2009 Documentary Last night I finally got a chance to get through all three parts of the mini-documentary that Girl Talk put together from his New Year's Eve 2009 concert in Chicago , and having been a bit more inspired by music like this lately I was totally floored at the behind the scenes footage. To give you an idea, here's what went down: As a surprise to the 4,500-capacity Congress Theatre audience in Chicago , Girl Talk had a two-story, five room house built [...]

Long View: Phish: The Bluegrass Sessions on YouTube

Phish: The Bluegrass Sessions [YouTube] This has already been called the "Holy Grail" of Phish Videos. This is a FREELY TRADED, NEVER SOLD home movie of Phish Backstage. Total running time 1 hour 20 minutes. The Rev. Jeff Mosier (Blueground Undergrass) was contracted by Phish in the Fall of 1994, to help them learn Bluegrass. They flew him to Michigan and Gordon picked him up in a limo, and they had their first lesson on 11-14-94, same night as Grand Rapids. With his Blessing, the footage he shot of this whole experience, backstage [...]

Long View: Yeasayer @ Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn 2/9/10 I'm pleased to introduce the first of many writeups here at LMB from our friend, Wesley Hodges. In his first column, he previews the newly released Baebelmusic.com video featuring a full Yeasayer set from earlier this year in Brooklyn. -Jdub Admittedly, I sort of burned out on Odd Blood months ago, after a few weeks of constant rotation and initially proclaiming it on par with the band's debut All Hour Cymbals . Now that I've had time to fully digest and take a step back I [...]

FT5: Songs About Loving Yourself

"My cousin Walter jerked off in public once. True story. He was on a plane to New Mexico when all of the sudden the hydraulics went. The plane started spinning around, going out of control, so he decides it's all over and whips it out and starts beating it right there. So all the other passengers take a cue from him and they start whipping it out and beating like mad. So all the passengers are beating off, plummeting to their certain doom, when all of the sudden, snap! The hydraulics kick back in. The plane rights itself and it [...]

Sneak Peek: Green Day Rock Band- Longview

For some, June can't get here soon enough when the highly anticipated Green Day: Rock Band is released. Check out a sneak peek at the video of the Rock Band version of band's first single, "Longview," which sparked interest in the band from it's major label debut, Dookie . Hardcore fans, will be looking closely at every fine detail down to the stickers on Billie Joe Armstrong's guitar and nuances of the band while performing. Family fun in the form of Green Day: Rock Band hits PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii on June 8.

Long View: The 60-Minute "Runaway Jim"

Long View: The 60-Minute "Runaway Jim" There are times when I feel like I know Phish and the folklore behind the band, and I'm definitely deeply embedded enough within the scene that I've picked up more knowledge about this band than all of the knowledge I have of every other band I enjoy combined. Then I see some video playlist proclaiming that the band did a 60-minute "Runaway Jim" and that factoid and media-I-must-consume nugget seemed to have gotten lost in the shuffle that I call "being Phish nerds." FAIL. Internets, to the rescue! [...]

Long View: Phi8h: Halloween Phish in the Desert

Phi8h: Halloween Phish in the Desert from Tim Saccardo on Vimeo . I've had a bit more free time lately (more on that soon) and I've been devoting tons of that time to sifting through the media that I've collected over the past year but haven't had a chance to fully digest. Rather embarrassingly, I still haven't processed my collection from Phish Festival 8 and I'll likely be posting a bunch of nuggets before the start of the summer tour . The video shown above was one of [...]

Long View: Phish @ Madison Square Garden, NYC 12/4/09 All on YouTube

Long View: Phish @ Madison Square Garden, NYC 12/4/09 All on YouTube It's end-of-quarter time for me in my day job so I just spent a few hours working through my inbox here on the weekend, but I took it in stride by taking the opportunity to watch my way through (most of) the entire video of Phish at Madison Square Garden this past December 4th right on YouTube. I threw it all in a playlist right when it got uploaded, and user ErroneusJ (i.e. PhishTube) already has that covered for us . Not to mention the December 3rd MSG set as well as the first night of Hampton [...]

Long View: The Disco Biscuits @ Stubb's

Long View: The Disco Biscuits @ Stubb's If you're anything like me, you usually take the weekends to chill and consume some of the media backlog that can occur throughout the week. Normally I'll throw on an album I haven't heard yet or a concert video that gets sent our way, and more and more we get links for full concerts being posted online. It's not like this is a new thing, but it really does seem to be commonplace these days. It's rad to see it continue to proliferate for the benefit of all of us. To celebrate that fact, we're [...]
