Last Thursday the one and only Alex Winston played one of her first shows in the States for a long while at a special edition of All Things Gold. Fortunately, U Hall now allows concert photos so we were able to capture her, along with fantastic openers Long Walks On The Beach , on camera. Scroll through some fantastic shots of the night, courtesy of the always-amazing Laura Lopez , after the jump. STREAM: Alex Winston - "Velvet Elvis"

Every now and then we and our partners in crime at Neon Gold Records get the opportunity to bring an artist down to DC so special that it's impossible not to break our usual schedule. In February, it was Chiddy Bang. This month, it's Alex Winston . The Detroit songstress has been spending a lot the of the past year serenading the Brits overseas. Her record release party in New York last night marked her first show there in a year. Crazy, right? Well we're making sure the District gets a taste of the fun and hosting a performance [...]

Welcome to another edition of 'Monday Threesome', a series of posts from The Wild Honey Pie where we post free/cheap music from three bands with similar vibes. Think of it like a Pandora station made by humans. After such a stormy weekend, we could all use some tunes that remind us of the joys of pleasant weather. Oregon Bike Trails simply sound like California. While that may be cliché to say, their 50's-60's lo-fi pop sound, shuffling rhythm, and bright lyrics [...]

It's late, I'm depressed and - well, let's just get to the music: Portugal The Man - So American But here's a song to cheer anyone up - from the psychedelic pop-producing Portland band's new album. Who broke the rules? They do. (via Trendland ) 01 So American by ATL REC Edrédon - Sopena Edrédon are a Madrid band [...]

You may remember our dear friend and DC local musician Long Walks on the Beach , who has played our stage and who has played on our station many many times and who has no doubt played on repeat in your head, in your heart, in the deep recesses of your mind as you're falling asleep, all thumping bass drums and jingle-jangling guitars, filling the empty dark room, building slowly from a beat, with smooth, even-keeled vocals: slow jam on a Saturday night. [...]

Long Walks On The Beach (DC's favorite metaphysical pop band) have dropped a new single. The track is upbeat and even raucous at times. I hope this is the direction LWOTB is going, cause I am all in. And... if you listen closely you can hear the forceful sound of a Chevy [...]

Long Walks On The Beach is a bedroom pop project of Fritz Kramer out of Washington, DC. The song "Literally Crazy for You" is off a new EP coming out called SINGLES. I remember loving his stuff last year, and then finding out that my friend Chris from Indie Music Filter put one of his songs on an epic end-of-year mixtape that I pretty much listened to non stop for a good while. That sort of re ignited my interest, and so of course I get stoked when I hear about new stuff that he's got. [...]

Long Walks on the Beach - Literally Crazy for You Gotta rep for the hometown dudes being premiered by my good bud. Another glimmer of hope for the DC music scene. Rumor has it Fritz puts on killer DJ sets around town. Every time we try to hang something comes up… via yvynyl : PREMIERE: Long Walks on the Beach - Literally Crazy for You This is a single from Washington, DC musician Fritz Kramer 's bedroom pop project, but it sounds like a Bruce Springsteen [...]
I seem to be spending more and more time infront of a microphone, these days. Whether it's on the new This is Fake DIY Radio show, ' Into the Blogosphere ', or when I'm fronting my tweenxwave band (forget I said this), I'm gradually becoming more confident with speaking about music… These podcasts nevertheless continue, and show no signs of stopping. After a week away in the remote Irish countryside, I had just enough time to scour the web and find not just 8 but a good dozen or so fantastic tracks. All the same, several songs had [...]
A wise person once told me that any good writer should only use the word, "literally" less than four times in a lifetime, making it like the "I love you" of the grammar world. It is too often used to emphasize, like a zombie version of "really" or "so", instead of its intended purpose of proving you aren't being figurative or remotely metaphorical. Making it the "love" of the grammar world.

Every so often I get an e-mail from a guy named Fritz (aka Long Walks On The Beach ) with a new song. Every time this happens, I not only like the song, but I get the urge to start telling others. Here's "Literally Crazy For You", a song which will be on a 6 song EP of old and new songs called Single. Look for that in August, and yeah, I'll probably mention that here around then. For months, Washington DC-based TV producer by day, musician by night Fritz Kramer has been recording energetic bedroom pop gems under the moniker Long Walks On The Beach as he finishes up the project's debut EP entitled SINGLES . The release will be out sometime next month and will feature his three previously released jams 'TRUE LOVE or bust,' 'I Didn't Want To Make Out,' and 'metaPhysical' as well as three new tracks. Check out one of the new tunes, ' Literally Crazy For You ,' below. You can download Fritz' tunes over at his bandcamp [...]

With a growing fan-base and a series of great live reviews, Long Walks On The Beach (known as Fritz Kramer when off-duty) is gradually making a name for himself. metaPhysical is the lead single that somehow manages to sound warm, infectous and familiar from the word go. It's raw and breezy pop music in its purest and will surely slip into many a summer mixtape. The only possible complaint is that it's less than three minutes long so he's clearly less us wanting more. Long Walks On The [...]
