Yesterday we celebrated The Queen Is Dead 's 25th Anniversary . Today we celebrate the live version of new Morrissey song, " The Kid's A Looker ," which Moz performed on BBC Radio 2 a few days ago along with "People Are The Same Everywhere" and "Action Is My Middle Name." He did those other tracks, too, but so far no video's surfaced. In the meantime, this is what "The Kid's A Looker" looked like at Perth Concert Hall: Read More...
In advance of a European tour that kicks off in Perth tomorrow, Morrissey and band performed three songs from his next album on BBC Radio 2 earlier tonight. Last month he wrote on his site that the LP, his tenth solo, was finished but did not have a label ("My talents do not lie in DIY"). The tracks recall classic Moz, and of these three the rousing "People Are The Same Everywhere" bears the most potential as a single to my ears. Take a listen while you peruse the Internet's ten best photos of Morrissey and a [...]

"They got the guns, but we got the numbers." -- James Morrison, touting a strategic advantage "Come on. Help me! HELP! HELP!" -- Thomas Scharpling, yelling for the arrival of his army "It's a recession. I'm not gonna name names, but, uh, let's just say there's a new President . Right? No? Played that wrong? Blaming Obama for this? That's not going over so well. No, I'm kidding. That was a joke. Please, [...]

I'm a bit late on the uptake here (sorry, I was in New Haven sans internet when this happened), but y'all know how much I love Looker , so when they get the attention they deserve, it's sorta' exciting. The title track to their 2008 release Born In The Desert was NPR's song of the day on the 18th, to glowing review: Just because Looker's "Born In The Desert" doesn't have roaring power chords, a simple 4/4 backbeat or explicit aggression doesn't mean [...]
New Looker video for "After My Divorce." Looker has just released a music video for big hit "After My Divorce" that looks absolutely classic. Todd Albright of Flim Flam Productions directed it. This song considered by many (including me) to be an undiscovered masterpiece. Albright's video evokes memories of ...

They are a bit like a Kills - you know that new wave, indie punk sound? I love the guitar sounds. It just sounds right, like it has a timeless quality to it. I think you could listen to 'Stand Back' in 20 years time and still think it was relevant. I actually like this track on the b-side better than the title track. The other b side is the fast paced 'Masters Gone Away'. It's a bit more pop orientated than the other two songs but the thrashy guitars make it worth a second listen. [...]

1. Let me break it down: Girl loves music. Girl loves message in music. Who wrote music? Oh, it was Attractive Boy who can play the guitar/bass/drums/sax (umm...no, not keyboard, really sorry). Music = the musician who wrote it which is what girl loves. So, girl loves musician. -- http://wellobviously.blogspot. com If you've been keeping track, you'll remember that I don't do year-end lists . First off, the thought of compiling my top 10/20/50 tracks or albums is daunting. But more importantly, I feel I'm totally unqualified to do so. I [...]

How many CMJ bands are going to threaten you while their pants are undone? Well, I can give you one example. Robbie from Looker's coming out of the closet-pants undone-to tell you to come see them at CMJ. Or perhaps to kick your ass. Probably the latter. But Looker is still one of my favorite UI-Approved, Must-See CMJ Marathon Artists. And it might have something to do with their lack of pants. Looker : That's What Belts Are For . Make sure to [...]

The Accidental - Dream For Me Aside from having cover art which I would love to brandish on a T-shirt, The Accidental have a great, bittersweet of a folk tune in Dream For Me ; incredibly organic and authentic, this lightly executed but emotionally charged song will sink into your consciousness with its bucolic harmonies and dreamy, restful tones, as wispy as the red-eyed sheet ghost which graces the front of their album. Looker - Gates Of The Old City Now for those of us [...]

Looker is a female fronted pop band out of New York who has so far released two singles and have one coming out on April 15. Looker first got my attention a month or so ago after I liked a few songs streaming on their myspace. With very limited material to write about, and ending up with a lackluster post such as this one may turn out to be, I'd pass. With more an effort to update more often, I finally decided to share some tracks that I do quite enjoy even if [...]

Mount Eerie is at it again folks. The band known for their dark, hard rocking ways have once again put it together on what is quickly becoming a fave around these parts. It rocks hard, it has it's weird lyrics, and it never stops luring me further in. I was a little put off by the track "Don't Smoke", but my personal afflictions have no real place in a pre-review. I've only gone through the album
