Yep, so think of it what you will, but this thing always manages to end up being a pretty massive day as well as creating a bit of controversy. Be it not having any females...to Angus & Julia Stone winning with a song about a big fucking plane. Shannon Noll sang about a big car...didn't [...]

Loon Lake are out of Melbourne, Australia. They have been featured on Triple J Radio's "Next Crop 20113, check out their video/track "Bad To Me" off their debut EP. Also, check out " In The Summer ", another standout.
I am so happy to see Loon Lake starting to get all the credit they deserve. Austrailia's answer to The Strokes, have released the visuals for their single "Bad To Me". This girl is toxic and has got to go. You just don't treat Teddies like that. Even though this chick is crazy, she is pretty cute. You can get the single from Aussie Itunes now , and should be available next week internationally. Loon Lake - "Bad To Me"

Not too much info on Melbourne's Loon Lake , but we'd be hard-pressed to find a song/video more fitting than In The Summer , which has been plucked from their debut, Not Just Friends EP . Loving the Super-8 feel of the video, and if you'd like to hear more of this Aussie quint, the whole Not Just Friends EP can be streamed right here for nothing.

Click here to view the embedded video. While the rest of our interstate counterparts battered our social networking walls with their hipstamatic prints basking in glorious UV - for those of us in Melbs, 'Summer' never really arrived. Currently living vicariously through this video while I go wring out my ego, broken umbrella and the moat in my shoe. Catch Loon Lake launching their EP on June 3rd @ Ding Dong and supporting Red Riders in Melbourne and Sydney on their farewell shows. [...]
Now you have found something to do on Good Friday Eve.

Our friends from down under are back with their first single "In The Summer" off of their forthcoming EP. Loon Lake really knows how to turn up the heat in a time where us New Yorkers are battling the snow storms and frigid winter days. Of course, Loon Lake were probably inspired by the nice summer weather they're receiving now, so we'll take it and use the song as a glorious escape from our current conditions. On the worse of days, I can see this being a song that gets you back on your feet and [...]

Loon Lake based out of Melbourne, have a raunchy, raw sound sound that is filled with infectious riffs. Only releasing two demos so far, there is so much promise here. Their song, "Into The Office" is so much fun, with the verses having almost a back and forth conversation between vocalist Sam and the playful guitars. I can hear definitely hear alot of The Strokes in this, which is maybe a reason why I'm loving this so much. Their sound is just perfectly made to be played in sweaty, energetic live gigs. The band is currently working [...]

(image via Triple J ) I first came across Melbourne's Loon Lake at the start of the year , on a 40 degree day. It's hard to believe it's ever been that hot, sitting in here while the wind blows a gale outside and the mercury hovers around the early teens. (Shut up - that's damn cold where I come from!) Back then Loon Lake didn't even have a myspace, though they've rectified that now , and have three demos available for your listening pleasure. 'Easy Chairs' is the most recent, while 'Into [...]

L oon Lake - 'Easy Chairs' ( mp3 ) Here's a sweet new jam from Melbourne newcomers Loon Lake, who wowed me with their track 'Into The Office' earlier this year. Thankfully these bros still sound like they're just kicking around in their garage, keeping shit loose and direct. Even though it's actually pretty melodic with crisscrossing guitars, it's all sounds so effortless thanks to the way singer "Sam" (couldn't find a last name on Myspace so I gave up) talk-sings (in a slight Julian Casablancas drawl) his way through the verses and half strains for [...]

Loon Lake - Into The Office Totally fun vibe on the new demo from this Melbs five-piece: obviously just bros hanging out and playing as loudly and exuberantly as possible at each other, which is nearly always a recipe for greatness, especially when the sound du jour is scrappy 90s power pop. It's played without any pretension or self-consciousness either - check the 'Sounds Like' section on their MySpace, which reads "hopefully no one but probably a bit like someone". Word. Also totally great that they're singing about sitting around in yr jammies, watching [...]

I could do this too if it didn't hurt to go outside It's currently 40C outside, and 32C inside my house. With the cooler on. I don't think it's working. I've spent this Saturday morning cleaning my house because a) it was a bloody mess and b) I'm going away next week and while I'm not a neat freak (obviously) I hate coming back to a messy house. I'm sure you needed to know that. The point is, the only way I could get through the sweaty boring [...]
