Italian producer Reuben Keeney has quite a talent for putting together a catchy riff. This week he's partnered with Manchester-based electro producer AudioFun to release "Solar," and it's clear that their talents' play off of each other well. Honing Keeney's capricious ear for instrumentals and vocals and AudioFun's futuristic take on melodic electro, the result is more than just a melodic progression: it's an edgy, uplifting club track that has enough groove to make it hard to sit still while listening. On this EP we also get appearances from masked duo Fast Foot and [...]

Welcome to the 49th edition of The Club ! In case you missed it, this week there's been quite some drama going on in the dance music community. Or well, it's more like the dance music community vs. Will.I.Am for taking creative property and repurposing it as his own production. The track he used, coincidentally, is one of the most beloved tracks in dance music, and though it's a few years old, "Rebound" by Arty & Mat Zo is not something to tamper with. One thing we've learned from this experience is that it's quite something to see fans [...]

2012 was a good year for film. I ended up seeing 126 releases, and I have to admit that the majority of them were far from terrible. This, of course, made crafting a Top 10 fairly difficult, but I gave it my best shot. Just a heads up, below the main section of this article you'll find some mini-lists. Read on! 10) The Avengers I feel like some people are afraid to put this movie on their year-end list. It's like the 1.5 billion dollars it made worldwide [...]

It wasn't my best year for film viewing. Where 2011 saw me watch somewhere near 110 films, I'm embarrassed to even count my paltry little number. Weeks, even months went by in 2012 where because of the cruel infringement of life, I was unable to watch a single movie in the Temple of Cinema. Thus, and I will freely admit it, my selections are culled from a pretty standard selection. And even as, of late, I've rallied against the generic selection of films that seem to populate every list this year, my list is very much the same (perhaps even [...]

Looper and The Perks of Being a Wallflower are some of the nice suprises in the WGA award nominations. The Writers Guild of America have selected their films in contention for the 2013 awards, which take place on 17th February. The Master, Flight, Looper, Moonrise Kingdom and Zero Dark Thirty are up for best original screenplay, while Argo, Lincold, Life of Pi, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Silver Linings Playbook are in the adapted category. DIY favourites Searching for Sugar Man and West Of Memphis are among the documentary nominations. [...]
As we press on into the new cinematic year with the likes of Django Unchained and Les Misérables opening the doors on 2013, State looks back on the cream of the crop, the films that defined 2012. 10. Amour To say Amour is enjoyable is a fallacy. In fact, the chances are that I'll see The Avengers (which didn't make my top ten) seven times for every time I see Amour , because it's easy. Michael Haneke does not make easy films. He [...]
2012 left me a bit blah. I'll always find at least 5 great albums in any year that trips me out and will be listened to for years to come. The top 10 i've listed here to me I feel they've hit it right out of the park. You may have noticed that i haven't blogged much about new [...]
Alt-J - An Awesome Wave 2. Tame Impala – Lonerism 3. Dirty [...]

Yves V, hailing from the Benelux, has teamed up with Dutch house master Loopers as well as newcomer Jacob Van Hage. Yves V has commanded the main stage of the world famous Tommorowland Festival alongside Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Known for his anthemic releases such as “ Bronx ,” “ Loops n Tings ” and " Chained ," Yves V doesn’t disappoint in his newest endeavor titled “Amok.” Like his other tracks, “Amok” utilizes hard-hitting basslines characteristic of electro-house and a powerful leading melody. The lead is perfectly distorted and the Arabian influenced melody combine to deliver an organic [...]
Yves V , Jacob van Hage , and Loopers have concocted a medley of bulky electro bits for the release of their three way collaboration. "Amok" plays through like a roller coaster with melodic upswings and ground pounding drops. Building with kick drum, grinding with synths, and relieving with harmony, the production dishes out loops of spontaneous flavor. Colossal in every sense of the word, the sounds of "Amok" range from deep bass to piercing reverberation. The team effort is available for purchase courtesy of Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike's Smash The House imprint. Purchase: Beatport [...]

We last saw newcomers Dyro and Loopers team up back in May with the release of their collaboration, " Monster Talk ." Loopers is back with a release entitled "Dealbreaker" on Cr2 Records and Dyro is loyally following up with a remix. Both of the tracks got their premieres on MYNC's Cr2 Live and Direct radio show and although not terribly different in sound, both productions demonstrate a knowledge for the electro-inspired big room sound dominating live sets around the world today. These tracks will be released on Beatport on December 7th for your [...]
