[Lorn a.k.a. Marcos Ortega] We have had our eyes on Lorn since he released his debut LP Nothing Else on Brainfeeder in 2010. Ortega's sonic signature is unmistakably distinct. He has recently shared this adaptation of "The Well" from his June 2012 LP Ask The Dust on Ninja Tune . "On The Ice" is villainous. Wolfey [...]

Young adults like to spend New Years Eve getting ridiculously drunk. Oldies countdown the new year with the fam bam, if they make it to midnight. Fourteen year olds drink goon and dodge the copious amount of police on the Harbour. But then there's the festivals, the glorious NYE festivals. You get to watch live music, camp under the stars and surround yourself with like-minded people as you whisk away the previous twelve months and set yourself a new years resolution that you know you won't stick to. One of these wonderful [...]
A round-up of some global clubbing hotspots for NYE.

I don't know about you, but back in early July I was in a state beyond euphoria as I was informed of the highly anticipated first lineup announcement for the 2012/2013 Falls Music and Arts Festival . Bearing the knowledge that certain bands and artists' presence would be closing 2012 and opening 2013 in a beautiful, natural amphitheater had me ready to buy tickets from the get go. I'm talking The Flaming Lips , Beach House , SBTRKT and Best Coast - just to name a few. [...]

Lorn fans: if you haven't already, you need to go and download his latest free offering in the Lorn & Dolor beat-tape series. If you've been following these then you only need to download part IV - otherwise hit the PARTS I-IV link for the whole thing zipped up. The series is compilation of unreleased material and sketches all with Lorn's usual HEAVY hitting dark yet ethereal and beautiful sound. It might not flow like a 'mix' (it clearly wasn't intended to), but it's surprisingly cohesive, given the jumpy/cut nature of some of the transitions. [...]
Lorn's new music video for "Diamond" follows an old school, arcade style video game character on his journey across various ominous, lo-fi landscapes. The electronic track comes off of the album Ask the Dust , out now on Ninja Tune . Music Player: [...]
Streaming below are two videos from the new Lorn album, Ask the Dust . The electronic music producer's sophomore effort is out now via Ninja Tune. I talked about this album a bit on a Y U NO REVIEW segment, saying that I was impressed with the improved production from Lorn on this new release. Ask the Dust is definitely a step up in texture, and combines sounds both beautiful and rough for a really nice atmosphere. My qualms with the album, though, sat mostly with the sequencing of the rhythms and synths on the track, which [...]

this week's cutie is the video for Lorn 's Weigh Me Down taken from the album Ask The Dust out now on Ninja Tune

Earlier this week we had the chance to speak with Lorn about his new album, drum & bass, and a ton of other subjects. “Weigh Me Down,” is the new visual that was directed, produced, and animated by Max Friedrich. The track is off Lorn ’s latest album Ask The Dust, which you can pick up here.

Just like it's hard to categorize Lorn's music, the video for "Weigh Me Down" (which is taken from his Ask The Dust album, which is out now on Ninja Tune) is an 8-bit oddball masterpiece that almost surpasses the track it's providing visuals for. Feels like a call to arms for the cattle of the world to rise up against humans who harvest them for meat. Whatever's going on, it's eerie and intense. Perfect visual to steal away four minutes to.

O si prefieren el LP doble, Ask The Dust , [...]

What’s going on, We’ll start by asking where are you at in the world today, Lorn!? You’ve bounced all over the States. Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Hell yeah. You’re new full-length album, Ask The Dust , dropped this year on Ninjatune, how do you feel the sound progressed since 2010’s, Nothing Else ? Some of its dead on same era.. Diamond, Ghosst and Ghosst(s) were all started before Nothing Else came out and I already felt like I was moving forward in a lot [...]

Mario Cotto Originally a part of LA's Brainfeeder collective, Lorn released a grim long player of seriously heavy beats called, " Nothing Else ." His latest - and first for Ninja Tune - " Ask The Dust " is a similarly grim affair but throbs with the intensity of an angry heart as opposed to the cold, mechanical logic of his debut. For all it's beat heft, melodically it is [...]

THE LATEST VIDEO FROM NINJA TUNE'S 'LORN' ENTITLED 'GHOSST(S) www.facebook.com/lornnn THIS VIDEO DROPPED A FEW MONTHS AGO AND I AM COMPLETELY OBSESSED WITH THE TRACK, PLUS THE RECORD THAT IT COMES FROM. THE ALBUM IS A RICHLY TEXTURED, DARK AND BROODING RELEASE CALLED 'ASK THE DUSK', IT CAME OUT IN LATE JUNE ON NINJA TUNE RECORDS . [...]

Mono/Poly delivers an outstanding remix of Lorn's , 'Weigh Me Down'. The uplifting Hare Krishna rolling cadence is paired against Mono/Poly's metal screeching analog richter that literally weighs you down. Download via XLR8R . Brainfeeder visions... Lorn - Weigh Me Down (Mono/Poly Remix)
