In part 1 of our 3-part Rdio playlist series showcasing bands heading to Austin City Limits this weekend, Gareth from the Welsh hearts-out indie rockers Los Campesinos! drops off this set of tunes for us. The band will hit ACL this Friday at 12:30 p.m., and Gareth made us this - well, look: this playlist is full of beautiful bummer jams. But if you haven't heard Pieter Nooten and Michael Brook's "Searching", you haven't lived. EMA's former band Gowns, Tim Hecker, and one of Xiu Xiu's most slept on songs all make an appearance. Listen to "Cross [...]

The ATH crew is heading full blast into our ACL Festival coverage this week with some spotlights, interviews, battles and any other craziness we can think of. Today we're coming at 'ya with our first interview of the season from Welsh band Los Campesinos! Prior to the festival, we sent some interview questions to band member Tom Campesinos! who was kind enough to answer our tough questions. Follow the jump for his answers. ATH: When we first [...]

Los Campesinos! have announced a London show set for this coming December. The gig will mark the end of the Hello Sadness album cycle, and will be the Cardiff band's final show before they go away to record their fifth record. The show will take place at Islington Assembly Hall on 15 December. Support comes from Best Fit favourites Among Brothers and Sparky Deathcap . More info can be found here .
Having previously returned home from Leeds Festival with a mild case of trench foot, it was with some apprehension that I returned, armed with two pairs of wellies, a towel and a tent with a fully functioning zip. Fortunately, there was no such problem with the Northern weather and Thursday was a day spent meeting [...]

The legacy of largely overlooked but wholly genius indie rock duo Nosferatu D2 has experienced yet another unlikely echo, as an enterprising reporter with PRI's "The World" radio program last month once more amplified the startling singularity of the defunct Croydon, England band. Featuring interviews with fronter Ben Parker , who these days is writing plays and fronting an expanded version of his Superman Revenge Squad , as well as Audio Antihero Records founder Jamie Halliday, the radio piece is embedded below, and is very much worth a listen. We've written perhaps more words than [...]

So after the jam packed first day of the Reading Festival I couldn't wait to see what new bands I could see, bands I love and bands I really needed to catch live. My day opened with a trio of bands gracing the Main Stage, first up was Los Campesinos!. I've Only ever seen them at festivals, yet every time I still get amazed by how well they transfer their tracks from the album into live songs. Never dropping a beat, everything is all in place and Gareth wows the crowd with his charm and wit. [...]

That a band who can hardly have claimed to have racked up the radio support, who rarely if ever grace the covers of magazines but, understandably, are close to the heart of so many are opening the main stage of a festival like Reading should be a cause for celebration. Los Campesinos may be able to refer people to "the song off the telly" ('You! Me! Dancing! and it's flirtation with a certain brand of bottled beer), but today certainly feels quite important. It's no easy task they face, either. Just minutes before taking to the stage [...]

>> Based on his remarks in our interview with his band a year ago about logging copious hours jacked into his beloved Japanese 8-track machine and Fruity Loops, it's little surprise that Johnny Foreigner drummer Junior Elvis Washington Laidley has finally revealed a bedroom project, the beats-and-electronics concern Fridge Poetry . The name itself is apt, as Mr. Laidley -- in the spirit of Dntel and The 6ths -- produces the music and then invites vocalists in to complete the tracks. Fridge Poetry 's debut tune, a demo titled "Crash [...]

Within indie there are a whole range of styles of lyric writing, ( check out Joe Prendergart from Tubelord talking about lyrics from their new album Romance ) as with anything, and I've become more and more excited by bands with heart on sleeve lyrics over the last few years: Johnny Foreigner and Los Campesinos! to name two bands. So it was lovely to receive an email from a band who [...]

I realise that those of you across the pond have been enduring some kind of crazy heat-wave, but let me tell you: Summer has taken its sweet time arriving in the UK. Still, it's finally as close to gloriously sunny as we ever get, and with an unerring sense of timing, indie pop charmers Bordeauxxx have delivered their new single, "The Beach Girls And The Monster" . As with their previous efforts, it's infectiously upbeat and sure to bring a smile to your face. I mean, it would probably still give [...]

The Guardian So yes, been away a little while - San Francisco was lovely, thanks for asking, I've just started putting up photos on Flickr - and yes, there's a bit of a backlog of stuff to get through. But there's also a dollop of jet lag to get over, so I'll just ease back into this if it's all the same to you. We may as well start with the only thing that I actually listened to from all the RSS/Twitter/email items immediately: yesterday's livestreamed Blur mini-concert from atop a [...]
Photos by LP In the six years of being a band, Los Campesinos! had never been to Miami. But on Saturday, June 30th, the seven piece Welsh band finally graced us with their presence by cramming tightly onto Bardot’s carpet. They were loud, they were sincere, and they didn’t hold back, though a good percentage [...]

Not just another Tuesday… the lineup for the 2012 Treasure Island Music Festival is out of the bag!

Treasure Island Music Festival will return to San Francisco's Treasure Island from October 13-14th. As has been the case throughout the festival’s six-year history, the bill is split between indie rock (The xx, M83, and Divine Fits) and electronic (Girl Talk and The Presets), though hip-hop also has a presence this year in the form of Public Enemy. The festival’s first day leans toward the electronic side. Joining Girl Talk, Public Enemy, and The Presets are SBTRKT, araabMUZIK, Grimes, Toro y Moi, Porter Robinson, Matthew Dear, Tycho, and Dirty Ghosts. The indie-centric second day promises [...]
