Spain's Los Massieras released their first release Boogity Boogity Boogity 12" earlier this year to acclaim from Pitchfork, The Fader, and virtually every edge-pop publication on the web. The duo is back with another EP titled Better Than Italians , out now through their label Discoteca Oceano. Their video for their hit "Boogity Boogity Boogity" was mystical and uncompromisingly glossy, their new video is equally glorious but has even more pop substance to it. "Rumores" is a cover of singer and TV personality Raffaella Carra's classic "Rumore."The cosmic clip, directed by Mario Campos, features Natalia Ferviu "making [...]

Spring has sprung! This incredible Bananamania record has got me in the sunshine mood big time. I missed out on their first release and I'm kicking myself - this is such an awesome little package. Cheeky psych-rock-disco vibes, like a house party version of History Clock. The Velvet Underground-esque banana sleeve and the name of the record 'Better Than Italians' gives a pretty good indication of where Los Massieras is coming from. Insanely fun. In the cataclysmic sewers deep beneath the haunted architectures of Northern Europe there runs rivers of purest ectoplasm. EU directive 2010/666/8 dictates that a certain level of all energies contained in this powerfully emotive substance be kept in balance at all times, lest there be some hardcore spiritual ruptures happening at some seriously inopportune moments. [...]
We might have found Thelematicos' debut alienating and underwhelming, but we pretty much love the rest of the Discoteca Oceano catalogue, including Los Massieras, even if there's so little material from them to really judge. They have released a 12-inch sampler titled Bananamania, one that has caught the attention of media all around, including privileged attention from Pitchfork and The Fader. Their single "Boogity Boogity Boogity" has put them on the map with a refreshing dance jam; it's a celebration from beginning to end and an exemplary tune on wax-cleaning spirit. Pitchfork has premiered a fantastic video directed by Gerson [...]

we gave you this superdope Los Massieras track in March now we have the video Boogity Boogity Boogity is better than ever

Uni for this semester is coming to a close (exams in two weeks) and thus, I'm trying to get all these tracks out on the blog, one step at a time. Let's progress onwards shall we disciples? > > > > Heard this one in a Revenge mix a while back. Acid Pauli makes it cool deeep. And who doesn't love that Gaye vocal? MP3: Marvin Gaye - What's Going On (Acid Pauli Remix) Here's a nice remix by The Popular People's Front released in 2009 [...]
Daily Doses: Los Massieras - "Boogity Boogity Boogity" From Bananamania I have passed on posting this song for months now because it really doesn't in any way fall in the scope of my normal subject matter. But it's gotten very consistent plays since I first heard it. Finally today I realized why I loved it so much… It's a palate reset ! Mark from Yvynyl asked this question earlier , about what was best described as "Digital Music Lethargy". The point where the four to five hours every day I listen [...]

Los Massieras have emerged into the light with a debut 12" that fulfils every hope that pops into your mind when you read the sign marked 'Boogity Boogity Boogity'. Jumping headlong into deranged disco, the whole thing drags you down to the floor where you'll be throwing shapes you always knew you had, but struggled to find. The constant focal point of the track is a lick that's like the party that's been going on for days and days, meme years, that you have no hope of ever leaving. Relent and you'll find the most composed element comes from the [...]

A princess of crimson dress and black mane of hair roams halls of a darkness thick as ink deep down in the forgotten heart of the castle, illuminated by the light of a feeble candle, following chalk symbols scribbled in the walls by an exiled hermit who will tell her of the end of her [...]
