A vaguely dissonant and withering vocal chord gives the distinct impression of early TV On The Radio, quickly includes a hooky, hopeful melody from Lost Lander on single "Cold Feet". It is a buzzy and spacious arrangement featuring the most lyrical bass guitar of 2012, an instrument very nearly speaking its own language and on its own accord, an insistent and monosyllabic tongue. The synths,

SXSW has come and gone. Once again, we have survived. The Panic Manual crew even did a road trip through New Orleans to Memphis after the fact to prove it. Nevertheless, it'll be another twelve months til we hit up Austin again and so for now, we can only relive these memories. In this engaging round-table discussion, we discussed some of our favorite things about SXSW. Favorite SXSW Moment? Paul : There were a few ... ![LOST LANDER IS COMING TO NEW YORK! [FREE MP3]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4148850_lg.jpg)
Afraid of Summer - Lost Lander Portland based Lost Lander (@lostlanderband) will float through New York on the 6th and 7th of April, giving fans a chance to see their unique dream-pop melodies live. Front man Matt Sheehy, accompanied by his producer Brent Knopf, (from Ramona Falls , also formerly of Menomena ) have produced their latest album, DRRT , which trembles with immense affection and a beautiful child-like introspection. Their cloudy, opaque sound has attracted attention in their hometown indie scene of Portland with their signature song, "Afraid [...]

In honor of SXSW 2012, we'll be doing our own SXSW Advent calendar, of sorts.
Lost Lander's debut album DRRT offers a glimpse into humanity through heartfelt lyrics and seamlessly unique melodies.

Those of you looking for something to fulfill your folk/americana niche this week definitely need to look into Lost Lander, the project of Matt Sheehy. He's just released his debut for the project, DRRT , this week, and I've definitely got some room on my daily playlist for this album. There's definitely a rising moment in this song, as the strummed guitar builds to an eruption of lush orchestration featuring various string instruments; it all crashes into a steady drumbeat, creating an emotionally beautiful moment within the song...and then [...]
The worlds of nature and technology collide on Lost Lander's debut album, DRRT . The music video for Lost Lander's "Cold Feet" is composed of one night's worth of television viewing, shot from director Jonnie Ross's iPhone and then cut up into a pastiche of random scenes, some obscure and some archetypal within the collective consciousness of American popular culture. It's a concept that works as a powerful critique of compulsive 24-hour media consumption as movie images of car chases and explosions are juxtaposed against news footage of war,...

Here's what I know about Ruler, its not much: Alphabetically the first bandcamp tags to describe the project reads "dignified, dramatic, folk" which I like right off the bat. Ruler is a brand new band from Matt Batey of Cataldo. They'll be playing their first show on January 29th at The Sunset with Portland's Lost Lander. [...]

Portland-band, Lost Lander , has caught my ear in a bear trap called fusion. "What type of fusion?", you may ask. "What the hell does that mean?" you will more likely ask. Well... I suppose it means they've got my attention and aren't letting go. Lost Lander fuses the sounds of Fleet Foxes , Broken Bells and a whole lot of their own flavor. Matt Sheehy has done his share of solo work, as well as work the band Ramona Falls , formerly Menomena (previously featured on MTIB), but for whatever reason this [...]

Just got an email about this and its pretty freaking legit. Lost Lander is a band created in portland. Matt Sheehy's new band who had done lots of solo work and played with Ramona Falls. He's teaming up with Brent Knopf (from Ramona Falls, also formerly of Menomena). Pre-Order their album DRRT If you're in seattle, they're playing the Sunset Tavern on January 29th. WOOT

For those who closely follow the music scene in Portland, Ore., Matt Sheehy is not a new name. Some may know him as one half of the band Gravity and Henry while others may have seen him on stage with Kaki King or Ramona Falls. Sheehy has also released solo material before , but his new sounds under the moniker Lost Lander have turned some heads. After collaborating with each other on previous projects, Sheehy and Brent Knopf (of Ramona Falls and formerly of Menomena) have decided to exclusively work with each other on an [...]
