Alright, which one of you pulled the fire alarm? Bender!?!? With high expectations, a few drinks already imbibed, and tickets procured several weeks ago, two cars full of potential Health Ledger For Oscar fanclub members left their cushy Echo Park hobo homes and drove to the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood for a midnight screening of The Dark Knight . That is the name of the new Batman movie, in case you've bee locked up in a closet getting fisted by your pedophile uncle for the past six or seven months. After a short [...]

"My colleagues at Octagon Global Recruiting assure me that Comic-con hosts some of the brightest minds in the country," said Mr. Van Eeghen. "As Head of Recruiting it is my [...]
As I was leaving work last evening, I checked my cellphone and noticed I had three text messages and a voice mail. This is not entirely uncommon, seeing as how I am an immensely popular public figure who has to constantly deal with the demands of friends and family who often claim to "never see or hear from" me. The messages were fairly standard, your "What are we doing for dinner?" "Yo fag, call me" run-of-the-mill type stuff. The voicemail, though, was completely unexpected. It was from a woman who claimed to be the manager of the Pizza Hut I [...]
Dear Yum! Brands & Pizza Hut, Last evening (Thursday May 29th, 2008) I had a very upsetting experience involving one of your franchise's locations in Los Angeles, California. I feel it is my responsibility to inform you about what happened, and I will try to do so as objectively as possible. For your consideration: Allow me to set the scene. A small group of clean-cut, polite, Caucasian twentysomethings have gathered to watch the season finale of their favorite television program ( LOST , airs Thursdays at 9:00pm EST - 10:00pm PST on ABC). The consensus opinion [...]

Holy shit, you guys, fucking LOST last night was unreal. And now the reality sets in: summer, fall and winter will all pass before the next new episode airs eight months from now. The Super Bowl will probably occur before the next new installment of LOST , and football season is still about 100 days from starting. That's fucking tragic. CNN and Career Builder have once again teamed up to create one of the all-time bonehead top ten lists. They've already conquered the "ten things not to do at work" list, which I amended [...]
The Warehouse Raves series ended with volume 8, by this time the series had changed name to the slightly more generic Warehouse 8. Unfortunately trying to find this final volume proves to be somewhat tricky due to the Dave Matthews Band releasing a series of bootleg/live CDs called live at Warehouse 8. Hrr. Anyway, might as well pick up where I left off last year with this series. I had intended to come to this one day, but just didn't find the time. First up, and needing no introduction Nomad (ft. MC Mikee Freedom) - I Wanna [...]
Today is my last day in New Jersey, again. Who knows how long it will be before I return. It took almost exactly one year -- from April 27th, 2007 to April 30th, 2008 -- to warrant a first visit. Supposedly (if you believe what I've promised my parents and friends) it will not take another year for me to find my way home. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm taking today "off" in order to relax and prepare myself for the return voyage. I awoke early this morning and drove to Denville to pick up [...]
The clock struck 7:00am and I was already awake. I rolled out of Nicci's bed, dressed, packed my dirty clothes and gathered my belongings before waking her up and leaving for the airport. It was 8am when we hopped in her car. The traffic between Echo Park and LAX was very manageable, and we actually arrived there in less than thirty minutes. This left me way too much time alone at the gate, reading the book Ilya got me for my birthday. At some point a voice came over the loud speaker announcing that anyone who printed their boarding pass [...]

I just re-watched the Vinyl documentary with Nicci yesterday, and burnt a copy of it to CD for one of my bosses, so of course I feel compelled to speak about record collecting today. I'm not going to discuss the process of acquiring new albums, or the analyze the psychology of someone who attempts to fill holes in their life with material possessions. I'm going to rant about how more and more bands and record labels are engaging in "limited edition" releases as a last-ditch effort to make dwindling audiences more greatly appreciate their recorded output. [...]

In the absence of LOST , Nate, Nicci, and I yearned for something -- anything -- to fill the immense void created by a lack of epic dramatic television. That's when Tom asked if any of us had ever watched Twin Peaks . I was still two weeks shy of my seventh birthday when the show first aired in 1990, so you'll have to forgive me for my inability to experience the television series at an earlier time. In all honest, I wasn't even allowed to watch much television growing up. I recall ABC's Friday night [...]

So, uh...what's up, everybody? I've started this entry without having anything to write about today. I could rant about how Apple is now the number one music retailer in the United States , and why that's bad for artists (Remember when I reported on how Apple wants to lower the percentage royalty earned by songwriters even further ?). I could write about how Wal-mart is tired of willingly losing money by selling CDs , and now wants every album they sell to cost consumers less than ten dollars, but that would mean citing (at length) an article [...]

Constellations. Plural. • A professor has penned a detailed article on the topics of aliens and time travel, and I guess the fact that he is a currently-employed professor lends some credence to the fact that he's talking about the existence of extra terrestrials and the possibility of time travel . I think it's fascinating that France opened up their UFO sightings vault, and that the government said 58% of the sightings could not be explained. Fat dudes wearing pointy ears and speed suits while living in their parents' basements are probably really excited about [...]

Walt (above) is shown not soaking wet for the first time in four seasons. I've been promising for a week to write about this season's eighth episode of LOST , the mini-season finale before the show returns with five more episodes (and a true season finale) starting at 10:00pm April 24th. Apparently Grey's Anatomy will take over LOST 's 9:00pm slot, which is complete and utter bullshit because the former show sucks and LOST is the best show on television -- but that's not important right now. Today, [...]
The new season of Lost has started and it is damn-diggity good. They started with the annotated version of last season's finale ( called "Lost, Enhanced" ) and then a recap episode that summarized the story thus far. The first episode of the season follows off from last season's promise of a possible rescue from the island and a jump forward a few years into the future to see why that might have not been such a good idea. There's no need to feel like you can't join in on [...]
I didn't really put much thought into naming this place, it was only really intended as somewhere to amuse myself while I slacked off working for my previous employer. Audio.out it was as I was probably playing with a headphone jack at the time and the thought process likely came from that. The globalvariables part of it was from one of those eureka moments where I had what I thought was a great idea for something that I can't seem to find the time to work on, but maybe one day I'll get that back on track. I [...]

Last night, Chuck broke down both Spoon's "Don't Make Me a Target" and the Violent Femmes cover of "Gone Daddy Gone" by Gnarls Barkley , using them as thematic devices. In the case of Spoon ( O.C. vets ,) the song's title made it an obvious choice, and they used it as a sort of theme for Sarah, the CIA agent posing as a Weinerlicious fraulein. This reminds me of a couple years back on The O.C. [...]
A couple weeks ago, the radio program This American Life did a special episode for Memorial Day called The Center for Lessons Learned which is based on a real organization called the Center for Army Lessons Learned . The program addressed a key question: "Four years into the Iraq War, what have we learned? " In this episode, producer Nancy Updike speaks to Conrad Crane, the head of the U.S. Army Military History Institute . He said something interesting, which is in [...]

Jace over at Televisionary already recapped the season finale so eloquently, but I've been obsessing over it for 30 hours now and have some more to add - and naturally they include the use of music. Two songs make appearances that lend themselves to all sorts of theories, The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" and Nirvana's "Scentless Apprentice." In the flash forward Jack is driving out to the funeral parlor ( whose name is Hoffs/Drawlar - an anagram for 'flash forward ,) he's blasting Nirvana 's "Scentless Apprentice," a which [...]
The following collection of tunes in this playlist - are some of my own. The title doesn't really mean, "Me Me Me - it's all about Me!" But, you do kinda feel that way when posting your own tunes. Think of it as the opera singer on Bugs Bunny warming up, "me me me meeeee!" Enjoy the tunes ... Go! (A Day in Life) is presented here followed by Thief - which is the way the songs were intended to be heard (Thus why thief is such a short song - it's a coda to Go! and really [...]
