When San Francisco's Lotus Feet (aka Kristofer Lorenz ) sent me his record Animals in the Attic , it almost got lost in the shuffle, like raggedy toys in a dark closet. But these ingenious and inventive songs refused to be forgotten. The first two tracks "Early Bird" and "Evidence" suck you into his weird child-like psychedelic vortex that twists and turns like Toy Story on acid. And it just gets better from there. He tells me, "I can't help but draw from every type of music that I like, from modal jazz to shoegaze, which may or [...]

Lotus Feet is the recording moniker of Bay Area resident Kris Lorenz. He has written a bunch of songs mostly all by himself for a period of roughly three months and put them up on his bandcamp a while back. Now, apparently Lorenz has decided to consider Child's Play his debut effort's "single", and what a neat choice this was: The song is a wonderfully easy lullaby, beautifully meandering through your head like a sparklingly clear river running towards the blue Californian sea, an almost perfect pop song with rich, dreamy harmonies and a very [...]

The Hood Internet - Shoeing Horses in 1901 (Phoenix x Why?) The Hood Internet - Giving Up The [...]
September has little value to me beyond the start of football. The weather manages to retain the worst aspects of summer (NYC is 95°F today) as our lifestyles adjust to more focused, goal-driven tasks. Nothing wrong with responsibility, but I'd much prefer to be doing work when it is bitter cold outside. Showing up to [...]
"Early Bird" quickly transitions between haunting organ sounds and quick swipes of guitar, the former more in the vein of neo-psychedelia and the latter more like garage-rock. A lovely meshing of vintage sounds, to be sure, much like contemporaries in the vein of Ariel Pink. Lotus Feet show comfort in their influences only to a certain extent though, as their musicianship is apparent in itself.
