Today, Jason handed me the Sam Cooke SAR Records Story box set . From 1959-1965, Cooke ran his own gospel record company, SAR. It would give way to several standouts, including Billy Preston, Lou Rawls and the Pilgrim Travelers, and Bobby Womack with the Valentinos.
