'Vanguard Presents' is a project in which every few weeks we will feature three of our favourite artists contributing 10mins worth of a mix each to showcase their styles, tastes and new tracks.
The proliferation of remixes is such that I commonly discover new artists not through their own releases, but through remixes that are particularly catchy. Case in point: I just listened to Louis La Roche's take on Speech Debelle's "I'm With It," and now I'm checking out Speech Debelle for the first time. The UK based rapper has been on the scene for some time - in fact, she was the 2009 recipient of Britain's Mercury Prize (their equivalent of the Grammys). Louis La Roche has given Riva Starr and Fatboy Slim's 'Get Naked' the French touch. 'Get Naked' was released at the tail end of last year, and although it's a great track, LLR's irresistible and timeless French House production takes it somewhere totally different. It's not called the 'Is It Summer Yet' remix for no good reason; there's some serious summer vibe going on, perfect for taking away those winter blues (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere anyway!). LLR has kindly made this free to download, so get on it!
