★★★★☆ Capitalizing on bass music's extended reach, Lazer Sword lock in on a sound where the walls are closing in. You have "Point of Return" bashing away, and "Out the Door" really putting the squeeze on you. Through kindheartedness or luck the San Francisco swordsmen then let you push out into freedom, creating an LP programming a kind of concertina effect for speaker stacks, thrusting then recoiling. Mastering the lithe yet heavy, the hammer and tong of juke in near casual cruise control will never give you a moment's peace – this is a Monkeytown product [...]

Photo by Christopher Wilson [Monkeytown Records] California/Berlin production team Lazer Sword spent much of their early years working on glitchy, bassy variants of instrumental hip-hop, most notably Bay Area hyphy music. Recently, however, the duo have inched ever closer to European club electronics, draining off much of the excess of that early template. Lando Kal's (his other half is Low Limit) solo material has recently moved in [...]

Modeselektor's Monkeytown Records have announced they will be releasing the long-awaited second album from LA duo Lando Kal and Low Limit aka Lazer Sword . Just under two years since the release of their debut LP Lazer Sword are releasing 'Memory', a notable departure from the wobbly dubstep and thumping electroclash of Lazer Sword past. With Modeselektor and Monkeytown's track record being pretty much a perfect ten right now, it should stand to reason that this will be at least half as good as the latest Mouse [...]
You might have heard of these dudes before. Spawned around the San Francisco Bay, Low Limit from Portland, Oregon (who has since been a Brainfeeder favourite) and Lando Kal (who moved to New York, now Berlin) formed as one under the name Lazer Sword . They've released a split 123 on Glasgow's Numbers label, and an album on Innovative Leisure . Seperately, Lando has released stuff on Numbers , Amsterdam's Rush Hour and London's Hotflush , whilst Low Limit has put out on Manchester's Fat City [...]

Here are some things you need to know about Low Limit: he lives in LA; he sometimes returns to San Fran to throw parties with his crew, Icee Hot; he has had tracks released by Numbers, Fat City, and Monkeytown, with the new Lazer Sword LP due for a 2012 release on that label; and finally he runs a pretty sweet GIF blog. For his mix, Low Limit blends a range of music that combines to create his signature sound, as he explains: 'I recorded this mix on a train between [...]

Upon my arrival back to LA this week, I heard a ton of buzz surrounding LDFD, a relatively new 19 year old electronic producer from Texas, who recently released his Outtacontrol EP on Daedelus' Magical Properties imprint. The EP is pretty remarkable, and is one of the few new American records I can think of, aside from Salva's Complex Housing , taking cues from the burgeoning progressive electronic scene in the UK right now. And though LDFD definitely has his own unique twist on things, there's an unmistakable influence on the title track from crews like Night [...]

Lazer Sword is back and they have come with the heat we have been waiting for from them all year. They recently dropped their new self-titled album and this shit is going to be echoing into the far reaches of space for centuries to come. Lazer Sword has totally brought their A GAME, bringing the sounds of the future to your headphones. There is not one ounce of this album that doesn't reflect the intergalactic, space, glitch hop, 8-bit sound that only Lazer Sword could rock this hard. I really cannot stress to you enough to [...]
Writing a review for an electronic album is a pretty difficult feat but add to the fact that it's Nosaj Thing, one of the Princes of Glitch-Hop then it might sound redundant after the first 5 onomatopoeias. After a plethora of sold- audiovisual tours and high acclaim from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs and [...]
Low Limit, from Lazer Sword drop this mix for Brainfeeder. It's Cali! Download Low Limit Mix tweet

Seeing as though it's 3 p.m. on a groggy overcast afternoon in late November, I don't have all that much to say about Low Limit's latest mix for Brainfeeder - save that it gets my vote of confidence. Previously best known for his work as one half of Lazer Sword, Limit rocked a solo set at the Off the Books show I put on in September, and was one of the night's biggest surprises. He's one of those dudes who epitomizes this generation of beat junkies. I assume Bryant Rutledge grew up a hip-hop head, probably got into Aphex Twin [...]

I'm still in the low keys style this week but I brought you some new beat makers ; they all have a smooth/slow but hard bassline that I find relaxing but still banging. Heads up for Fulgeance , Betas , Tokimonsta & Brotherhood Crusade because those guys are going big. Glamoure - Fulgeance Quest (Low Limit Remix) - Nosaj Thing [...]

Referred to by some as the "hipsterwave anthem November 2010." Lazer Sword: "I'm Gone feat. Turf Talk (Low-Limit Remix) Share and Enjoy:
