Filed under: Concerts and Tours As they gear up to play SXSW for the fourth time, the Austin, Texas natives behind Low Line Caller -- Marc Ferrino, Eddie Torres, Raz Khandpur, Jason Brint and Josh Rosenblatt -- have become festival veterans. Bolstered by the regional success of their 2008 EP, 'Hi Def Soft Core,' the group has yet to even play outside of the Lone Star state, but that hasn't stopped them from racking up the local accolades. Originally an all-instrumental, synth-heavy ensemble in 2006, the band [...]

Every year, we listen to mp3's of every band scheduled to appear at SXSW. We then present you with an A to Z preview of the bands that we think should earn your attention. Whether you're coming down to SXSW (recommended!) or just looking for new music, there's no better time of year. There's a variety of music here, so buckle up for some different sounds. We'll be previewing two letters per day, which'll take us right up to SXSW Music Week. Then we'll give you our picks for the "Ten bands you must see at SXSW!". This is part [...]

Been a crazy week for all of us here at the Static camp. I have been working 2o hour days and working on no sleep, and Bonnie, who has gotten to go to two music festivals in two weeks, has been swamped at school. But luckily her and Ellison Aston got some great photos from this past weekend in my other home away from home, Austin, Texas. LOW LINE CALLER [...]

One couldn't have asked for a more beautiful evening to watch music, as the cool breeze, rare for a summer evening, crept in upon those in attendance at The Mohawk this past Thursday. Every thing was poised for a perfect night of music, as good friends joined to watch The Helio Sequence. Follow the jump for review and pics. Local band Low Line Caller opened at [...]

One of Sub Pop's great bands, Helio Sequence , will be making their way to the stage at The Mohawk this Thursday night, in what is sure to be another beautiful set from the band. Last year's Keep Your Eyes Ahead was one of the more quiet albums that grew as the year wore into it's final season. They'll be taking the stage with D*R*I* and Low Line Caller . Doors to the show open at 8 PM and you can purchase tickets by heading over to [...]

Tonight is the first of the many days of Free Week. We're here to help you get ready for the shows tonight. It's a Friday, gotta love that! Lots of good shows, let's get into it. Please feel free to let us know if you are going too! Emo's : (Outside) The outside stage features music from Lemurs, a band that has been around since 2004. [...]

I've talked about them before , Low Line Caller - one of Austin's hidden gems, finally has some songs for purchase on their myspace page . The above image came from the search results for "night+beach+drugs", which seemed appropriate for beach music with a pharmaceutical theme: Low Line Caller - Over the Counter Kids Low Line Caller comes out of their shell tonight for a show with The Winter Sounds and The Bubbles at the Mohawk. Go see this band.

If you don't have any other plans on this blustery Friday evening, may I suggest some live music? A good option this evening would be the Low Line Caller show at Stubbs (indoor stage). If you haven't had the privilege of seeing this Austin based 6 piece yet I would definitely suggest that you right that wrong and check out the show tonight. I'm a sucker for a good rhythm section and you get plenty of that here (two drummers and it doesn't sound unnecessary at all, which is saying something). Doors are at [...]

Last Thursday, Brad and a few friends and I headed down to Mohawk to celebrate Brad's birthday by watching one of our favorite bands, Starlight Mints. The two opening bands were The Separation and Low Line Caller. Neither Brad nor I enjoyed The Separation at all. In the middle of their set, we looked at each other and both of us had screwed-up faces of unenjoyment. Low Line Caller, however, was a different story entirely. I kept on freaking out while they were playing, going, "Ohmigod, Brad, I love this band," "Holy shit, Brad, they have two drummers, look," "Ohmigod, [...]
