Metronomy - "Hearbreaker" (mp3) One of my most anticipated albums this year is London-based Metronomy's 2008 effort, Lights Out . Front man Joseph Mount writes, records and remixes music under the aforementioned moniker. And if you've been reading Bwank!, then you're familiar with his remixes. Lights Out is, without a doubt, a strong contender for the Top 100 Albums of the year. "Heartbreaker" kicks into gear with twangy bass lines, reinforced and doubled by guitars, and, oddly as it may seem, a loop [...]

Over the years, I've taken my fair share of late night train rides. Getting myself and whatever else I may have with me frantically to the station and aboard the train uses up the last of the day's energy. Once onboard and situated, there's nothing else to do except for sitting back and enjoying the ride. In my book, there's not a more calming and relaxing way to travel. For the time being, stresses and "to-do's" are tucked away in bags stuffed into the overhead compartments and the next day feels just out of reach. [...]
I recently discovered Swiss group Low Motion Disco. They just released their new LP entitled Keep It Slow on June 16. If you liked the Studio post the other day I think you just may like Low Motion Disco. Their style is kind of balearic, but their material is a lot more laid back and chiller than Studio. When you are crashing hard after a long night and you just want to vegetate and have your mind blown a little bit by some relaxing but experimental music then go low motion for me. The Low Murderer [...]
Get all over the golf buggy mate. Low Motion Disco - Things are Gonna Get Easier (Sébastien Tellier Remix)
Douglas Armour "Fall Apart Again" - The character in "Fall Apart Again" is desperate to express himself to his partner, and trying very hard to get on the same page, but something isn't working. No matter what he says, he's left wondering if they even understand what he means, and if they've somehow gone reverted from sharing a close rapport to being little more than strangers in familiar bodies. You may expect a song with that theme to have a fairly anxious sound, but instead, the gently bouncy synth-pop groove and Armour's airy voice conveys a feeling [...]
It is with unbridled joy that we celebrate the arrival of the summer, this humble outlet of yours welcomes the period of Apollonian domination with a two-part post full of tunes to be enjoyed surrounded by palm trees in the deserted context of a post-apocalyptic tropical beach that could well ...

I recently discovered this band called Aeroplane. I think they are from Belgium. They cite Pink Floyd, The Alan Parsons Project, The Who and Elton John as their idols and have a passion for "cosmic disco and old-school house"....well, i think there's nothing more to say. Except, i love this remix. Low Motion Disco - Love Love Love (Aeroplane remix) [...]

Los Angelian and DFA delegate Woolfy keeps it funky. The British transplant migrated to SoCal in the 90's and quickly became a staple in the underground club scene went on to record for Guidance Records in the early part of this decade and has recently had his work released on quality imprints like Rong Music and Permanent Vacation . His music is rooted in disco, funk, house, and the dubbed out electro and post-punk that fueled global dance-floors in the late '70s and on through the [...]
Quick post - last nites Italians Do It Better bonanza of dry ice love and synthesised kick drum romance has left our fragile states shattered with glacial adoration! Swedish 33 disco pioneers, Low Motion Disco, are pushing things forward and have released a double 12" of new single 'Love Love Love' ...
I'll never forget the first time I heard "Aeroplane" by Aeroplane – it was listening to Lindstrøm and Prins Thomas ' Radio 1 Essential Mix from last May (find and download if you can, its phenomenal), and as a result I couldn't get it out of my head for weeks. Aeroplane specialise in slow, colourful, italo influenced disco house, but when you really listen to Aeroplane's music, it becomes apparent how ridiculous it is. It often verges on being completely overproduced – everything is saturated in reverb, flangers are [...]
The Chromatics gig on Saturday night was something pretty special. It felt like the kind of night that'll be talked about for a long time.... if not by anyone else then by me anyway. They were amazing! Afterwards Mike Simonetti turned the place into a grimey studio 54, laying down the disco nuggets to an appreciative crowd. It was so good that i'm going back again tomorrow (Tuesday) night, where

low in the city - low motion disco (2006) so chromatics released 'in the city' to myspace last week or something. adam also sent me a version called "zombie vocal", which is their own sorta "all the nite" screwed version of the track, and a minimal beat + acapella. whilst trawling myspace today i came across this little gem, which i'm guessing is someone else 's screwed version? how many similar brainwaves working at once? everyone is screwing! woah.
