Loyal Divide's Stolen Van (2000 Ford E350 Super Duty) Jeez. Another week, another case(s) of local band band thievery. It's unfortunate to report but the most recent theft cases involve psych-poppers Loyal Divide and indie rockers Scotland Yard Gospel Choir . According to the Bloodshot Records website, the members of Scotland Yard Gospel Choir were throwing a going away party for band member Elia, who is bolting for NYC, at The Whistler in Logan Square. While the [...]

Funky psych-poppers Loyal Divide debuted a new track over at Prefixmag.com yesterday, and it's quite a departure from the digi-grooves that made their latest, Bodice Ripper , such a success. Titled "Otto," the song feautres a guest appearance from Rachel Sarah Thomas of Chicago indie rock outfit Automata . Her delicate vocals and melancholy acoustic picking make up the bulk of the song until a little more than two minutes when Loyal Divide finally make their presence known with a wave of pulsating beats, synthy [...]

As soon as this post is done and up online we're off to flagellate ourselves repeatedly in the hope of some atonement. We're supposed to be recommending emerging, new music, so if any of you lovely readers have come across this band before then we can only apologise and serve up our intention to repent for hours on end following this article. You see, this band have been floating around for some time, so there's a danger you know them. We don't like to recommend bands that are established in the public domain, it's kind of pointless. Not that we [...]

Seeing how our staff has distinct tastes and opinions on music, it would be nearly impossible for us to determine a 10 Albums of 2010 list as a single entity without excessive bloodshed. So over the next couple of days, we'll be posting Top 10 Albums of 2011 lists as determined by individual Loud Loop Press staff members. Today, contributor Britni Day body slams us with her list for Top 10 Albums of 2011. This year, I felt like I was inundated with a lot of crap on the radio. If I wasn't learning Jagger's moves [...]

Indie bands using the studio as an instrument is typical fare these days. Most of the time with results range from noisy to spacey to danecy and just plain poppy. Yet on Loyal Divide's full-length debut, Bodice Ripper , the Chicago outift injects a soulfulness into the digital sphere with punchy synthesized grooves. Bodice Ripper is an outlier in the electro-pop/psych/whatever genre that usually references buzz bands like Animal Collective or Yeasayer. Loyal Divide go for a decidedly different approach [...]

Earlier this month, Chicago's Loyal Divide released their debut LP Bodice Ripper on Kilo Records . The standout track on the LP is "Vision, Vision," which is perfect baby-making music and features a deep bass groove, haunting vocals, and a pulsating synth line. Overall, Bodice Ripper is a combination of electro and indie rock, which results in a dance party that one cannot help but be sucked into. Currently, Bodice Ripper is available through Kilo Records on a gorgeous blue vinyl, which also includes a CD version of the LP. Order your copy here . [...]

Loyal Divide - Vision Vision (Directed by BBGUN) from bbgun on Vimeo . Been really liking yet another Chicago band - LOYAL DIVIDE - and this track in particular.

Via Floating , this phunked up song by Chicagoans Loyal Divide does the same thing that Allo Darlin 's did the other day, which is to skate off the song's main riff and sail into some serene air. The screech throughout is a nice touch, too. Good Good . Loyal Divide: Vision Vision.mp3

The number of quality Chicago bands sent my way the past few months has been increasing, with Loyal Divide continuing that trend. I was just sent a few tracks by the band this morning and am particularly enjoying my snowy jam session with "Vision Vision". [MP3] Loyal Divide - Vision Vision Trade in your analog time piece for a new, high-tech digital watch because these guys don't mess around with too many "old school" or "boring" things. Loyal Divide [...]

While we were all stuffing our faces with food, unwrapping presents and spending time with the family, Netherfriends was hard at work on a brand new album that was just released on Saturday. As Shawn Rosenblatt, the main man behind the Chicago psych-pop outfit, explains on his blog , the new album, titled Alap , isn't a typical Netherfriends release. He goes on to explain... This album is basically an improv album with elements of ambient and drone. It is entitled Alap, which is a term used in Indian [...]

Since MTV seems to stand for "More Tween Waste" these days, musicians have decidedly taken to the Internet when releasing music videos. Sites such as YouTube or Vimeo have opened the doors for bands who wouldn't have even received airplay back during MTV's heyday to create their own music videos, which can be seen by hundreds or thousands at the click of a button. Chicago's massive music scene features quite a few acts that still see the music video as a prominent art form. There were literally hundreds of music videos from local bands and artists released [...]

Chicago/Columbus psych-poppers Loyal Divide are getting into the remix game with their remix of the track "Slowdance" from DJ and avant-pop artist Matthew Dear . "Slowdance" comes from Dear's August 2010 release, Black City . On their remix, Loyal Divide strip it and slow it down to give it a bit more of a electro-groove than the original and push Dear's voice to the front. Listen to it at the left. Be sure to check out Loyal Divide tonight, Friday, November 5, at the Metro , where they'll [...]

You may remember the psych-groover "Vision Vision" from Chicago-via-Columbus, Ohio quintet Loyal Divide from earlier this year because of its violent stick figure animated video . Well, Loyal Divide posted a very cool remix of the track to their twitter today. The "Vision "Vision remix" offers a killer beat from the original's bouncy bass and features Chicago MC Ill Legit throwing down some fire on the mic. Listen to the "Vision Vision remix feat. Ill Legit" below:

[caption id="attachment_13223" align="alignnone" width="445" caption="California Wives"] [/caption] Well, if you couldn't tell by stepping outside this morning, Summer is ending and Fall is near. It's practically chilly in the shade! Still, Chicago's festival season and outdoor performances roll on. Of course there's the North Coast Music Festival set to take over Union Park this weekend. Be sure to check out our North Coast Music Festival Preview before heading out there this afternoon. Also set for this weekend is the Joyous Outdoor Event with music curated by the Metro and featuring [...]

In case you need some new tunes for wherever you may voyage (or not voyage) this weekend, here are some suggestions: 1. DJ Self Help: Clusterfunk Mix Summer 2010 (Soundcloud) Self Help , the co-host of Columbus/Athens' Dance or Die and rising DJ talent on his own, recently dropped this summer funtime mix. Crazy mixes and interesting choices make this hour-long mix jam from front to back. 2. Loyal Divide: Flights (Bandcamp) For whatever reason, I'd never been that into [...]
