Last month I asked if you guys would be interested in a monthly Ninebullets Spotify playlist. You seemed pretty responsive to the idea so here is the first one. This playlist features every band that was featured on ninebullets in the month of January that was also on Spotify. I hope you enjoy it and if you do, pass it along to some friends. Like I keep saying, every new pair of ears these bands reach is a potential fan/head at show. This month's playlist features: Lauderdale, Ryan Adams, Jason Isbell, The Far West, Will Hoge, [...]

Woot! Three months in a row! I think it's fair to say I've gotten my groove back with the ninebullets podcast. This month's show features the Ninebullets Radio/Ninebullets Podcast theme song written and performed by my buddy through music, Todd Ferrell. I'd love to know what y'all think of it. I think it has a solid Nashville Pussy feel to it and love it accordingly. The show also features the brand new Lucero track called "Sometimes" as well as new music from The Porter Draw , Greenland Is Melting [...]

"Why is Aimz going to see Lucero on New Years Eve? Has she lost her mind?" - My Latin friend Isabel referring to the Mexican soap opera/pop music star. I know people hate New Years Eve, and that it's "amateur night," and blah, blah, blah, but damn I love ringing in the new year by rocking out! For the last four or five years I have spent my New Years Eve in Toronto at the Horseshoe Tavern having The Sadies start my year off by giving me significant hearing damage. But I no longer [...]

Brooklyn experimental pop outfit Dinosaur Feathers released its debut LP, Fantasy Memorial , in 2009. At the time, the album's tropical vibe and sunny instrumentation were right at home amongst similar-sounding acts also on the rise. Since then, the group has toured relentlessly and reconfigured their own sensibilities for their latest LP, Whistle Tips , due out April 10th via Ernest Jenning. According to press for the LP, the band haven't left the beach-esque sound behind entirely. Rather, they've infused it with influences from The Soft Boys, The Olivia Tremor Control, XTC, and Paul [...]

Those of you who've been fortunate enough to follow Lucero over the years surely know how great of a songwriter Ben Nichols can be, and with his group filling in the empty spaces, they always craft great songs. Ben's voice always provides a bit of scratchiness to your listening experience, giving a nice little twist to typical Americana. You'll find just such treasures on the group's new album Women and Work , which comes out on March 13th via [...]

The new Lucero album will be titled Women and Work . That image up there is the cover for it. The album will be out March 13 but the lead single, "Sometimes", has been released today. Unless you're oblivious to Facebook you've probably already heard this but if not: Lucero - Sometimes

Punk-infused alt-country rockers Lucero have always sought to capture the spirit of their Memphis home on record. However, the sextet looks to take one step closer in becoming "the 21st century voice of that great musical city," according to a press release, with the March 13th release of their ATO Records debut, Women & Work . The album collects 11 original cuts that "range from barroom brawlers to lonesome laments, and cut deeper than anything else in the band's extensive catalog." [sic] Women & Work sees the band joined once more by a [...]

The Memphis truck-rockers give a taste and a tracklisting for their upcoming full-length.
Ben Nichols has been playing some new Lucero tunes during his solo tour last Spring and Women and Work is the album I'm most looking forward to this year. It'll be released on March 13th, right before they hit Austin for SxSW. I expressed my regrets to Woody yesterday for missing Lucero two years ago after our SxSW party. He informed me that I was indeed there and that I had a great time. I think this strange form of amnesia is a common phenomenon among Lucero fans... Here's a brief trailer for the album: [...]
