The Great GoogaMooga has arrived! Sounds like an enormous gelatinous horror from beyond, right? Well, you're wrong - it's much more pleasant. And what's so special about this festival? It's rare to see a band mature as fast as Lucius did. Started as a mellow and rather ordinary duo of female singer songwriters, this project in the last 2 years or so has expanded and grown in unexpected, abnormal yet wonderful ways. Their impressive performance at our Deli NYC B.E.A.F. 2011 event showcased a band that, with a little imagination in the arrangement and performance departments, can take traditional songwriting to an entirely new level. Every March, the music industry packs it's bags and moves to Austin, Texas for South By Southwest, a festival that manages to get bigger and bigger each year despite it's already gargantuan/beastly size. Given the overwhelming number of performances by over 1,400 acts, we've compiled a short list of ten bands that you simply must see. Many of these bands may not be on your radar right now, but with some luck, they'll come out of SXSW as indie household names, gaining more traction and playing bigger venues and as a result of this four day period [...]

After a freakish water main break that turned most of the Bowery area into a large body of water the night before, Bowery Ballroom cleaned itself up in time to welcome Other Lives and supporting bands WIM and Lucius on Friday night. Indie folk band Lucius was a pleasant start to the evening.
