Don't back up the hippie bus just yet. Secretly Canadian, 2012 7.1/ 10.0 To borrow and slightly modify the parlance of another well known musical community, what a short, strange trip it’s been for Luke Temple, and the rest of Here We Go Magic. In the relatively brief [...]
This really happened, earlier today, "in the middle of Ohio," according to @HereWeGoMagic : Iconic eccentric filmmaker John Waters hopped in the Here We Go Magic band van after sticking his thumb out on an interstate highway. Here's the tweetstream: Just picked up John Waters hitchhiking in the middle of Ohio.. No joke.Waters in the van. — Here We Go Magic (@herewegomagic) May 16, 2012 I wasn't kidding. Here We Go Magic at Black Cat. Luke Temple is one of the best song writers (Taken with Instagram at Black Cat)

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars When Here We Go Magic first jumped onto the scene, it was clear that the work was mostly done by Luke Temple. But, through two albums it has become clear that the band's blossomed into more of a group effort. So with their third proper release, A Different Ship , would the title indicate a final change in the music itself? The answer to that question can go both ways, and therein lays the problem. "Hard [...]

ATG has previously expressed their deep love and affection for Luke Temple and his cohorts in Here We Go Magic . The group is back with a brand new song, "How Do I Know," just in time for Summer. The song has all the elements that we have come to expect from HWGM. There's a snail-paced crescendo as each new element and instrument adds texture and complexity. The volume increases at the same pace, making it feel as if you are surrounded by the subtle variations in harmonies. It's got a bright and fun guitar riff that really [...]
HERE WE GO MAGIC ’s just released the second track from their forthcoming album, A Different Ship . It’s a joyful ditty, drawing very much upon frontman Luke Temple ’s folk background. It’s also got pretty synth and some lovely back-up vocals with a fast tempo, like a babbling brook. Just like a babbling brook. If babbling brooks made indie pop music, this is what it would sound like. Temple speaks about the album: “The music is beautiful, but feels like it’s [...]
Stream: Here We Go Magic- "How Do I Know" Brooklyn-based group Here We Go Magic has released a new single from their upcoming LP, A Different Ship , which is set to be released on May 8th. "How Do I Know" has a fun, upbeat tempo that continues to build, creating a progressively fuller sound; once the bass line kicks in, it becomes a pretty nostalgic rock song. The lyrics capture the feeling that the instrumentation presents as singer Luke Temple asks the question of how does one know if they are in love with [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Music , New Releases Greg Mitnick Here We Go Magic 's upcoming record A Different Ship is a slight change-up from the band's previous work of indie-rock collages. Though their new album has a similar off-the-cuff quality, it shines brightly as a tight and elegant package of ripe tunes. The Brooklyn band's new single "How Do I Know" is a perfect representation of [...]
Here We Go Magics' new video for Make Up Your Mind is naughty and fun.

The offhand, distracted brilliance of Here We Go Magic’s “Make Up Your Mind” raises just one question; was Nigel Godrich the genius, or was Radiohead? Because this, Here We Go Magic’s first revealed material with Mr Godrich, stinks of all those wonderful Radiohead-associated qualities; the disinterested, yet sharp, lyrics, the linear structure with subtle progressions and eccentric additions, the irony that a song that is essentially so simple just feels so different; the wonderful untrodden territory that nobody had thought to tred. Maybe. Probably not. But as Here We Go Magic’s three guitars walk all over each other like a [...]

Luke Temple is no stranger to ATG. The evidence is clear : we like his style. Temple and his cohorts from Here Were Go Magic are back with a brand new song from their upcoming album, A Different Ship . Their class of psychedelic electro-folk is in full effect on "Make Up Your Mind." Temple sings has if he is struggling to contain himself, slowly releasing tension at the end of the chorus. It is one long crescendo that would be perfect for a daylong montage crammed into four minutes. MP3: Here [...]

Does Luke Temple ever sleep? It really doesn't seem that way. The guy is constantly recording, touring, and putting out new music as a solo musician and with his steady outfit Here We Go Magic . This new tune "Make Up Your Mind" features a pretty funky beat on top of the typical Temple/HWGM chanting verses. A new album from the band, A Different Ship , is due out May 8th on Secretly Canadian . Download: Here We Go Magic - Make Up Your Mind [MP3]

Welcome to FWBA's best-of 2011. This has been such a meaningful year in music to me that it's tough to represent in one post. I'm going to be honest, this took me quite a long time. I wanted to do this year justice because personally, it was a total dream: living in San Diego working with some of my favorite artists, going to SXSW and Lollapalooza, seeing Dave Bazan in stranger's living rooms, Feist play a hometown show, saw tune-yards electrified show at Soda Bar clocking in as one of my favorite performances, watching Zach Rogue and my boyfriend playing [...]

Wow 2011, where the hell did you go? I feel happy and saddened to say goodbye, but 2012 should be a blast because no one's going to care about anything, since we're all going to die anyway. Am I right? Bring it, apocalypse. I'd say this year was pretty impressive as far as successful album releases go for many already established acts. With that being said, one thing I noticed about some other "Top Albums of 20113 lists was that a lot of well-deserved underdogs were missing, their slots filled with some hyped-up groups that possibly just have [...]
