Lupe Fiasco has taken a Twitter hiatus since he's been done promoting his his latest album, Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Part 1, which he has suggested could be his last album. Now he recently went online to make the statement that he will be discontinuing the use of his Twitter social media account. In replacement however, he released a brand new short track titled ‘LupeFiascoStore.com’. This very short record, which only lasts a little bit over 2 minutes long, is Lupe just getting his lyrical exercise on in this [...]

Lupe Fiasco is back with new song "LupeFiascoStore.com" as he announces suspending his official Twitter account until 2013, presumably to purge the beef with Chief Keef and other missives in the archives. I gotta give Wasalu credit for going over Common's classic "Communism" instrumental. Hilarious to me how many blogs have posted this track and ignored that fact. Resurrection is Common's best LP easily. This is the kind of production we need Lupe on, not some LASERS stuff. Maybe 2013 is the year. Lupe Fiasco [...]

He's out of the rap game, he's back in the rap game, he's not out of the rap game but his twitter is being revamped? Who know what's going on over at camp Fiasco but one thing is definite, they sure know how to keep fans on their toes and keep Lupe's name relevant. Personally I prefer the release new music and offer it as a free download method of relevancy, and luckily today that is exactly what we have here. With a new single "LupeFiascoStore.com" for apparently just the hell of it which features [...]

Last night, Lupe Fiasco decided to inform the world via Twitter that he wouldn't be retiring from rap anymore, and that his account would be deleting all previous tweets . Whether these are the words of Lupe himself or somebody else in his camp, we can't be sure. Instead of an actual explanation of these statements, fans are given a pleasant new track from Lupe entitled "LupeFiascoStore.com," featuring smooth production and a taste of the lyrical prowess for which he is known. Relax Lupe Fans. #LF Twitter [...]

After announcing that he would be taking a break from Twitter until the new year, Lupe decided to liberate a new track which finds him over Common's No I.D.-produced "Communism" . Short, but sweet. Hopefully, we'll get to hear Lupe, Com and No I.D. collaborate soon.
Unpredictable as ever, Lupe Fiasco completely rebooted his Twitter feed last night as a means of starting fresh in 2013. I can't really blame dude considering the nonsense he's gotten in over the past year— years , really—so I'm not about to hate on him for that. I'm also not going to hate on the new track he dropped, "LupeFiascoStore.com", even if its title is basically an advertisement. But hey, at least it's kind of dope, right? This is the Lupe I think most of us truly enjoy, sans the few political lines. You [...]

In case you didn't know, Lu recently teamed up with Vans for his own edition of the Vans OTW Stovepipe. The premium shoe is now available for purchase and you can peep it above (and below). Cop 'em now at select OTW retailers . Props to LupEND for the heads up.
We've already given a round down of our favorite artwork and music videos of 2012, and now we're diving into our choices for the best songs of the past year. To be blunt, we loved a lot of singles in the past 12 months from across the genresphere, though hip-hop and its off-shoots remain the backbone of our selections. For example, Baauer 's "Harlem Shake" most certainly isn't rap music, but the genre's influence breathes through the floor-shaking bass and synthesizers. As such, we didn't want to throw all 100 songs at [...]

If you're at work, or school, or just chilling hit play on the interview below with Lupe Fiasco and just let it play as you go about your business. This is one of the best interviews I've heard with Lupe as KC Chopz of Miami's Power 96 gets Lupe to talk about how Twitter is good and bad for the music biz ("instead of just competing with Mos Def and Doom, you're competing with the world."), why he wouldn't sign to G.O.O.D. Music at this time, and his move into the indie space when his contract is up at Atlantic. [...]

Chicago hip-hop hit it big yet again at the Grammys, with a handful of homegrown artists scorning nominations. The nomination ceremony was held this evening in Nashville (the first time outside of LA in five years), and No I.D., Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Da Internz and R. Kelly all have a chance to bring home gramophone's in February. No I.D. scored big with Nas, nabbing noms for both "Daughters" and the Life Is Good album. Da Internz are also up for their work on Nas' most recent release. Lupe is up for rap album of the year [...]

In the following clip Lupe sits down with Peter Bailey of NBC for a " NiteCap " interview while in Miami headlining U of M's homecoming. In the interview Lu goes in depth explaining the examples of duality within the industry, as well as touching more on Chicago Hip-Hop and the role he now plays. Peep the two-part interview after the jump.
The Jedi chops it up with Peter Bailey. Food and Liquor II in stores now.
Lupe was recently a guest on Peter Bailey's NBC program NiteCap, where Lu sat down for an in-depth interview. Mr. Fiasco discusses the ups and downs of being an artist, commercial success and the business side of rap. It's an interesting watch. Hit the jump for part two.

Having played with the idea for a few years, there seemed no better time than 2012 for Lupe Fiasco to follow through with a sequel to his heralded debut album, [...] The post "Strange Fruition" - Review Of Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor II appeared first on The Smoking Section .

James Bond has long been one of my favorite film heroes. Growing up I would watch and rewatch my favorite Bond films (mostly tapes on VHS from TBS "15 Days of 0073 marathons), and although the franchise's quality is pretty hit-or-miss, I'll always have a special place in my heart for the suave secret agent. The latest film Skyfall opens today, and I've been anticipating this one way more than usual due to amazing cast ( Javier Bardem is an amazing villain choice) and acclaimed director Sam Mendes , who previously helmed legitimately great films [...]

Lupe Fiasco has again joined forces with Sky Gellatly for the side project SNDCLSH. Even better is that they're giving all of the proceeds raised form the sales of this single and their upcoming EP Don’t Drop The Flag EP to help youth in need throughout the city of Chicago. People definitely need to stop overlooking Lu's contributions to the city. Stream the song below and spend a buck to help the youth.
The world has come a long way since the Who released Tommy in 1969. Tomorrow night, a stage adaptation of the Flaming Lips' seminal 2002 rock opera Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots will premiere at L.A.'s LaJolla Playhouse. It's not Broadway, but it is an indicator that the era of the rock opera could make a comeback. And this is the perfect time for a revival of the style. Read More...
