Can't wait for Coachella :) Hit play to start a playlist of all the chill electronic music featured on Sunday Night Chill. Three descriptors for each track + genre for easier selective listening. [RSS Readers: See post to listen to audio] This is the second in a new series of interviews where one artist interviews another, five questions each. Lately i've been hearing daily interviews and I've noticed too many similar questions keep coming up again and again. I'm hoping that the artist/artist format can give readers a better idea of what's on the artist's minds. I've also asked each artist to pick two songs which they've been listening to, all of which are posted above. LOSCIL INTERVIEWING LUSINE LOSCIL : If [...]

A 10 song experience of Ghostly's artists, each with a unique mood. The Music for Ideas compilation is a joint effort between Ann Arbor-founded Ghostly International and TEDxUofM; it's release coincides with TEDxUofM 2011: Encouraging Crazy Ideas , the second annual self-organized TED summit at the University of Michigan. Music for Ideas is meant to awaken the creative flow, the tenet on which TEDxUofM 2011 is based. Source: Ghostly Download: [...]

Sorry to be long-winded, but this is very deserving. If you can't read, or don't have time to read, click the "play" button on the bottom left corner of the screen. This is my first decibel festival , my first electronic music festival, and definitely won't be the last. Here is my day-1 experience. 830pm-Just showed up at the opening gala at pravda and from the outside, it looks like an office is holding a charity auction. I seriously heard more noise coming from a dance class across the street. [...]
By Curt Busch The 7th annual, five-day Decibel Festival kicked off last night in Seattle. Every September a handful of the biggest electronic names in the world infiltrate several clubs throughout the city. Electronic music isn't necessarily my thing, so I didn't recognize many of the near triple-digit performers, but a couple names that perked [...]

We're big fans of Lusine and all things Ghostly here at the Labs and we're also partial to Nic Fanciulli's productions and mixes, so when the two come together we're definitely happy chappies. Fanciulli has inevitably retained the vocal hook and put it to good use in this lush wee tech house number, it's a cracking piece of summery house sure to bring a wee smile to your face and accompany many a jaunt to the local beer garden. Available now at Beatport . Lusine [...]
Currently residing on Ghostly International , Jeff McIlwain, previously of Texas origin and now based in Seattle; has been producing abstract electronic music as Lusine for 10 years now. Lusine has preformed his ambient music across the globe, including a set at London's very own Fabric. According to Last.FM: "Having attended CalArts to study 20th century electronic music and sound design for music and film, he has since recorded for labels such as !K7/MAS, Hymen, Delikatessen and Isophlux. Since making the move to Ghostly in 2003, [...]

I know I say this all the time here, but I am continually impressed at the unique, out of the box and most importantly really captivating artists that are a part of Ann Arbor's Ghostly International label. I truly think it's one of the most progressive labels out there, and the fact that it's so close to home makes it even more of a gem. I first heard this fantastic track by Lusine a few days ago in my friend Meg's car on the way to a show and was not surprised when she told me [...]

Lusine AKA Jeff McIlwain produces a brand of melodic abstract electronica which normally involves a stripped down vocal version of his songs before getting some interesting friends on board for remix duties. His new release on Ghostly , "Twilight" is no exception. As with last year excellent EP "Two Dots" , the first track has an almost acoustic feel. We then see remixes from Type A and Jeff Samuel. They're all good tracks in their own right with the Type A remix of "Crowded Room" my current favourite. Right click and "save as" [...]

If you've been following this whole lo-fi lazy summer meets surf rock movement with bands like Real Estate , Washed Out , The Young Friends , Small Black , etc. there is a whole range of tones and tempos. One band that needs more releases out is this Beach Fossils group which I think has some great guitar parts, i'll keep you updated on new material by them since they sound pretty promising. Sbtrkt is one of the guys that has hit me over email with tracks, I really love [...]

I came across this yesterday when an e mail hit my inbox from seminal label Ghostly . They are giving away their 2007 release Break-a-Way Planets. Great news!!!!
