Indie Diva Editition I was going back through the archive of previous Hump Day Power Plays , and I realized that there's only one female vocalist showcased thus far. To make up for lost time, I've compiled a playlist entirely of indie music's most powerful women. Hope you dig it. Hear it by simply clicking here . Playlist is below. :: Hump Day Power Play (2-22-2012) :: 01 :: "Help I'm Alive (Spotify Acoustic Session)" - Metric [...]

Really looking forward to the new album from Miike Snow, "Happy to You". Of the three tracks released so far from the album, Black Tin Box is my favorite, the other two being Paddling Out and Devil's Work. Steel drums, moody vocals, and of course Lykke Li makes for wonderful sonic treat. Miike Snow - Black Tin Box (ft Lykke Li) Track list for "Happy to You" 1. Enter The Joker's Lair 2. The Wave 3. Devil's Work 4. Vase 5. [...]

Lykke Li - Unchained Melody [Righteous Brothers] | zs watch the original ❤ Happy Valentine's Day ❤

I have a serious love/hate relationship with remixes, but I'm definitely loving this Saturday, Monday rework of Lykke Li's "Love Out of Lust" (a phenomenal track in its own right). Even though the track has been out for a while, this version takes it to a new place, one filled with glitch and dirt. Make the most out of these dark winter nights with this one, free download below.

Not much is known about Saturday, Monday beyond the slim tidbits of the producer hailing from Europe, being the newest signee to Sweden's Despotz Records and having a new single slated to drop in a few weeks followed by an album sometime later this year. What we do know is that we're pretty fond of this introductory piece, a remix for Lykke Li's Wounded Rhymes ' cut "Love Out of Lust" that finds him applying to the tune stutter-step drum patterns, stop-start effects, doomsday piano [...]

Theo Wangemann - "Otto von Bismarck (October 7, 1889)" The past didn't speak to Edmund, it barked at him. His great grandfather, Georg, was a lunatic, which isn't a nice word, but a nicer word would be an apology. Georg had three kids and then, according to his great grandmother's letters, "left forever in a flurry of violence." , in the late 1800's, he moved to New York City and lived on the streets, getting arrested for drinking and fighting and public blasphemy. Edmund's grandfather, Martin, had set himself on a journey to find his [...]
Here's a totally baffling video for a killer of a song. I wonder how many drugs were consumed in the thinking up of Miike Snow's 'Paddling Out'. It's taken from the Swedish group's second album Happy To You, which is due out in Ireland on March 23. Have you heard [Read more]

Filed under: News Jonathan Short, AP Florence Welch doesn't need to watch those ' Hangover ' movies -- while she's on tour, she lives them. Consider a recent trip to New York City, where she turned into Florence the Drinking Machine, left a tea light burning overnight and nearly burned down the Bowery Hotel . "I think I must have had about 17 dirty martinis," the Florence and the Machine singer [...]

Nic Shonfeld From the outset, The Twilight Sad weren't shy about proudly pronouncing their influences. The publicity photos for their 2007 debut Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters may as well have featured the band staring intently at their footwear, so obviously indebted were the Glaswegians to the walls of guitar construction techniques laid down by their shoegazing forebears. But what set them apart was the songwriting blueprints they applied those lessons to, choosing to build giant monuments to miserablism from giant slabs of distortion, mortared together by James [...]

Jan Ken Po - Unlimited Man By Stef Siepel The Weekly Froth! A weekly take on six tracks, most of which have recently popped up somewhere in the blogosphere. Bit of a mixed bag with a slight leaning towards house, disco, and remixes, but generally just anything that for some reason tickled the writer's fancy. 'Colour Wheel' by Jan Ken Po (Max Essa) No he didn't! Max Essa just released an album as Jan Ken Po , putting the [...]

I jumped on the Miike Snow bandwagon quite late in the game. It was only after copious amounts of Facebook creeping that I realized what I had been missing. However, I'm happy to announce that after three years these Swedish babes are still my favorite "Socialists". They're the perfect blend of emoish pop-rock and danceable indie, or in other words, a one stop shop. After an intense make-out session at your parents place, you won't have to change the song for a post petting spooning session. They simply have a little something for everybody in any situation. [...]

Hey, good news, I can still see! So you're not free from me just yet. In other news, Sweden wins again. Miike Snow is releasing the long awaited follow up to their 2009 debut album aka my favorite album of 2009 with Happy To You , out on March 20th. Of the couple of songs we've heard from the album, this somewhat brooding tune is my favorite so far, and it's not just because of some guest vocals by one of the most babetastic babes out there, Ms. Lykke Li. It's almost as if this song was [...]
