We know. They're hopeless, right? During their current trek through the UK, the men of Vampire Weekend stopped by the BBC 's Maida Vale studio last week to record a session for Radio 1's Zane Lowe . Instead of doing their usual , they decided to lay down a relatively polite, delay-smeared cover of Rancid's "Ruby Soho" instead. You can have a listen over at Abeano right now and while you're there check out a Minimix the band's Rostam Batmanglij spliced together for the Annie Mac show. In addition to the 6th's "As [...]

There's something... something to be said about the sense of recognition and knowing you sometimes experience when listening to a song for the first time. While rock critics and music bloggers laud and yearn for the unknown, the innovative and cutting edge, the sense of instant relate-ability and reliability is often taken for granted, or worse yet, mistaken for convention and derivation. Just wanted to plant that little seed in your brain before introducing you to this sweet, sweet winter gem. With bass lines reminiscent of those reinforcing tracks sung by a Knowles sister and a voice delicate enough to [...]

This song was a recent discovery for me, found off the back of many people's best of 2009 lists, El Perro Del Mar's 'Change of Heart' this time with back up from Lykke Li.
El Perro Del Mar has an album out called Love Is Not Pop and this is a song from it. Although I had not heard the song before, I have seen videos of Lykke Li live and she usually kills it but El Perro is as at least as good as her. She plays guitar [...]
What do you get when you put two beautiful Swedish ladies on a rooftop in LA? Well, I guess that greatly depends on a lot of things, including what 2 Swedes we're talking about. Don't get excited, Merv the Perv, this isn't a homemade voyeur video, but it is just as exciting (in a different kind of way). Here's a video of El Perro Del Mar (Sarah Assbring) with my favorite indie pop star, Lykke Li performing "Change Of Heart" from El Perro Del Mar's latest album Love Is Not Pop . Pigeons and Planes

Unfortunately the music industry will not wait for me so I'm taking the opportunity to compile all the important things that happened since my last post on 1/12 up until today. Okay we'll admit it. We have a hard time resisting the musical charms of the Swedish indie ladies. That's why this one is so great. LOOK! I said it sounded like a Lykke Li vocal production, and now Lykke Li's gone and met El Perro Del Mar (Sarah Assbring) on a terrace in L.A. to show us how it would sound! This is as good (if not better) than the studio recording, thanks to the lush harmonization and skilled use of a metal cup. I could play this again and again and again...and so I shall.
Here's a sweet little video of the two performing the song live above a house terrace in LA. The announcement has been made of a co-headlining tour with El Perro Del Mar and Taken By Trees . Ms. Assbring seems to never tour anywhere remotely close to me, so the list of dates is a bit disappointing. One of these days, though! It shall happen! Tour dates can be seen here .
